SSMC2006 cruise friends

WOW, did everyone see that power post from Amy!
Big news from our house. The circle journals went in the mail today to Tina. And with that, I hear I am officially done!!! :dance3:

It's been fun, but boy, does it feel like the SSMC06 was a long time ago.
Yep, that was me!! :rotfl2: I was trying to catch up, since it seems like it's been forever since I had been able to do more than just read!! I keep up with you guys, but I never seem to have time to post!!

I still have a few sets of CJs left to do. I have Gail & Diana's that I will do this week, then I'm just waiting on the ones that Julie has and then I think that I'm done (or pretty close to done).
Guess that means time to schedule another cruise together ?????
Sounds like a plan to me!! Anyone up for December 2008??? :rotfl: That's my next one!!!
Well, we officially don't have to watch Animal Planet anymore! This afternoon I was working in my craft room and I looked out the window and saw a gator. This is typical, there are 3 in the pond behind our house--2 6fters and a 12 fter. Well this guy today was pretty close to our side of the lake and he had this weird hungry look in his eyes.

The next thing I know, the things JUMPS out of the water and leaps about 4 feet and pulls back a huge fish! Here's a shot of him swimming away with his catch.

We didn't have anything like this in NY, that's for sure!!

ETA---these pics were taken from my upstairs window, I was no where near the gator, or even outside and the girls were standing right next to me getting their education on the circle of life!
Where was he yesterday, when we were there??? :scared1:

When are you cruising in December?

Diana - looks like you have a new kind of neighbor - better than NY?

I do have to admit, the gators are WAY better than all those chipmunks and squirrels we had in NY. I haven't seen a chipmunk or squirrel in this neighborhood--my guess is the gators eat them all. :lmao:

Amy, I thought the same thing. That would have been a great show for you guys!!

And Julie---he's the small one!!! He's only about 6ft, his "cousin" is 12ft! After the little guy ate that fish, he came back and watched these two sandhill cranes for about 15 mins. I really think the little guy thought he could take them on!

We're also cruising on the Dec 20th Magic! Come join us for my big birthday celebration cruise---oh and Christmas too. :lmao:

Has anyone cruised in late June/early July? Is it ungodly hot then (please remember it's been in the 80s here and we already have the air on)?

We're not doing the repo now so we're possibly looking at a cruise next summer before a friend hosts a get together at the world (and it happens to coincide with my sorority convention too - woo hoo) but I'm worried about being hot all the time. Growing up we always went to the beach in November so I'm used to "normal" island temps... no idea what summer is like.

Hey Julie - I haven't ever cruised during the summer, but I went to my best friend's wedding a few years ago in June down in the Bahamas. It was hot, but not really that much different from Sept or Oct. I think that the island temps stay pretty even year round. They don't deviate as much as ours do.

Wow Diana, nice neighbors that you have  Let me guess the girls thought it was cool when the gator snagged a fish.

Our newest neighbor isn't quite as big as Diana's gators but she sure is causing us some trouble. Every spring (I think it's spring here) this momma and daddy duck wander between our backyard and 3 of my neighbors backyards looking for a place to nest. We were picked this year. We have some bushes planted at the end of our patio (to block the 3' drop to the yard) and she decided to lay her eggs in there. Our dog found the momma duck in the bushes, so now until these eggs hatch we have to put him on a leash and take him out to the front yard. He can't get to the eggs but his barking scares away the momma duck and I know the daddy is lurking somewhere near and I don't care to get in the middle of a fight between him and my dog.

Hello all!:goodvibes

Well no cooking on the grill since the other day since we have had a bunch of rain (plus alot of thunder and lightning tonight). Tomorrow is the Boy Scout court of honors and it's a potluck so the grill will be idle till Thursday.

Diana - Yikes!!! I'll take the chipminks & squirells thanks!

Amy - The new pic of the girls in your siggie is cute.

Steve - I was thinking of you the other day. I got an email from stickerplanet.com and they had scrapbook paper of Mt Rushmore and that made me think Of you & Coleen and you big trip.

Julie - Oh boy babystuff. I loved shopping for Nick's baby furniture. It was white and natural wood colors. We still use the dresser and the crib is at my parents house still.

How is Boy Scouts going for Nick? What rank is he now?

Cameron is still enjoying the program. It's amazing to see how "young" the new Boy Scouts are. There is no way Cameron was that young only 2 years ago. Time sure goes fast!!

We cruised in mid-June 2002 on our honeymoon. I don't remember it being ungodly hot, but it rained just about the entire time. It was a 4 day and our first day at CC was such a wash out they brought us back for a second try on our day at sea. The rain held out until about noon every day and then the rest of the afternoon was a washout.

Thanks Diana and Amy - ugh that doesn't sound lovely if it rains... hmmm

In all actuality, it can rain on any cruise you take any time of the year. Hurricane season or non hurrican season. Heck this lastFebruary cruise had gale force winds just about every day, that was just plain annoying.

It's nice when it rains on the ship because they make changes to the schedule, like add extra movies, bingo, games and stuff. I say go for it, you'll have fun, rain or shine. It's guaranteed not to snow, that's all you really need in my book. :thumbsup2

I second that! We have had so much snow here in Chicago that I don't ever want to see snow again!

Those Gators look scary! I'm glad they are in your backyard and not mine! I'm not an animal person, especially scary ones!

Tina - I am glad to hear she's healing and hope it's nothing too serious. How wonderful they did so well this week  I thnk it also speaks to good parenting :)

We bought baby furniture yesterday :scared1: and the crib gets here Monday but the paint we want isn't available for a month at our local Ace (Benjamin Moore Aura - low chemicals, almost "green" ) so we're looking to see if the B. Moore store is near us and has it.

Thanks Julie! Thats such exciting news that you guys have picked out baby furniture! Good Luck with the paint!

I got them yesterday, Cindy! And yes they look amazing! Ihave 3 to do, and then I am officially done too! SSMC06 feels like it was ages ago! But the books bring back all the memories! Everyone did a great job!

Hi there everyone. This has been a very busy week and next week is worse. I am off to my annual Fireman soiree in Indianapolis. I will be back to a regular schedule after the 13th.

Coleen and I have been doing meeting this week. Her with the Village board and me on the FD.

Looking forward to getting the last two books and being done. I have really enjoyed doing the CJ with those who participated.

Our SIL says Micheals is going to have a Cricut cartridge sale in this weeks ad. $39.99 I think. I am having him save the Disney princess 2 one(I forget the name right now) and I am going to look and see if I need any others :confused3 . It is a slae after all.

I will stop in again as time permits.

Squid

Have a fun time at the Indy Firemen Convention - not sure if my brothers are going to be there this year - at least they haven't invited me!

My goodness, 4 days without anyone posting!?!

Where did everyone go? WDW again? :) I know Steve's in IN, but where is everyone else?

Has spring has sprung and everyones outside enjoying the nicer weather? We had a couple of beautiful Chicagoland days. It's about time!

Has baseball season started? Cameron's did. Mr. Powerhouse hit a home run during his first practice. :cheer2:

Walker's doing hockey 4 days a week and soccer 2. No doubt about it, we're in busy season in our house.

Hi Cindy!

I guess spring is keeping everyone busy. I'm sure everyone will chime in sooner or later - I know the tv schedule is not so great so it has to be the weather.

I'm trying to enjoy it but still have so many dr appts and the meds they keep trying aren't doing as well as hoped. Oh well, I'm going to try and enjoy whatever nice weather we get and we're waiting on "baby news" around here - my son's little one can come anytime now - but I seem to remember saying that about Christopher. I will have to post some pics of the new one and Christopher soon.

Hope all is well with you and yours -

Hi! :wave2:

I'm here---watching Dancing with the Stars.

We've been on Spring Break and thankfully, the girls go back to school tomorrow. I drop J off at 8:15 and Emma at 9 and then my hair appointment is at 9:15! :lmao: I definitely need some "me" time!

We went to Epcot one day and Sea World another last week. Flower and Garden Festival is my favorite time of the year, so we'll be back to Epcot soon. The opened up the Wonders of Life pavillon to do little workshops and have a shopping area set up. It was nice to go in there again.

But tomorrow we're back to the stress schedule, both girls have school, then 3:00 is dance and 4:00 is swimming. Yes, we're swimming here, it's been in the 80s and gorgeous!!

I'm here! Taking a break after spending all of last week trying to get all the tax stuff done. Glad that's over!

Outdoor soccer for Deanna starts tonight. Practice twice a week and 2 games a week until June 1. Actually, since she was playing for 3 teams during the winter season the spring schedule will seem alot less hectic.

We've had some really nice weather the past few days. It was nice just to get out and enjoy it. Today looks like rain, but it's on the warmer side which is a plus. I hear they are talking of snow for the weekend - gotta love living in the north!
