Has anyone heard how WDW will handle the bus transportation from the Treehouses at SS.

Will the TH have there own buses or will they add more stops, to the already too many stops, at SS.

I think the plan is to drop off people at the carrage house area (So they can check in/out, use the pool or resturants and spa). I personally would not stay at the treehoues villas unless I had a car.

iirc latest I've read on this was a post that THV will share bus and possibly 2 stops within THV area (?), but have read many different scenarios so not 100% sure :confused3

According to the DIS boards and several other websites, the THV will have two bus stops for an internal SSR bus loop to the Springs stop (near the Carriage House) where you can then disembark and board a resort bus.

Yep, that's about it. I don't think it's going to ruin my vacation to wait for the extra bus, but it would for some others I suppose. I'm sure the bugs will be worked out in the first few weeks if things don't run smoothly at first.

I am with you pennst8r, its not going to ruin mine either.. . :)

This question isn't about bus transportation, but about those of us who will be driving a car. Will there be enough room by an individual treehouse for 2 cars? I would hope so since they can sleep up to 9 people and a majority of the time, that would take 2 cars for 9 people. I hope so...we are going at the end of June with our neighbors in 2 separate cars.

Thanks!

I agree and am jazzed about staying in a treehouse but my mom is in a scooter and i have a stroller for my kids so I might have to switch if I need a second bus...:sad1:

A 2-stage bus system is certainly not “ideal”, I am thinking that a lot of the time it will just be easier to walk or boat over to SSR to pick up the resort busses.

I am looking forward to staying there but I will definitely have a car when I am there.

I have sent messages to DVC member services asking about this and telling them how much I hate the initial plans to only have internal buses running to the Treehouses. Under normal circumstances it would just mean more wait time. For us - since I will be using a scooter it could mean extremely longer wait times. First I would have to load on the first bus - probably not a problem since it sounds like it only runs thru the treehouses. But they drop you off at the Main stop which is the final stop before it leaves the resort. So all the people from the 2 treehouse stops, plus all the people from the Carriage house stop, plus all the people who are up at the carriage house eating breakfast, checking on their bill, swimming.....whatever will be waiting to catch that bus and it will have already stopped at 4 other stops. So odds of getting a bus with room for a scooter are slim.

We are hoping that we will be close enough to go to one of the other stops and get on there and not have to deal with the multiple bus scenario. I am also hoping by the time we get there they will have changed it to make it easier on the Treehouse people.

I read somewhere there will be a walkway from THV to Grandstand area.

It sounds like we'll have to "train" for THV like you train for a marathon!:snail:

I cannot imagine having to regularly be on a bus for 5 SSR stops PLUS 2 THV stops, especially when that includes 2 trips through the really slow guard-shack gates.
I just got back from SSR (and saw the sign by the SSR exit pointing to THV unit #'s) and my odometer showed between .4 or .5 of a mile on the road between the THV and SSR entrances (Connecting THV to grandstand would be a lot shorter internally and the only way a combined bus-route might be acceptable)
I almost say the only way to be decent and fair (500+ SSR units vs 60 THV's) might be offering additional accessible-only transportation "on-call" for the SSR and THV residents as it may be faster and easier for both populations. Or a "smart" bus stop system (punch in your park bus at the stop or in-room, then punch in your stop when you are leaving the park so not all busses have to go to every stop every time. Scratch that, it woud be too convienent and Disney would never do that...)

The THV look very close to the Grandstand area, just on the other side of the golf course, it may be a short walk to the Grandstand area.

.. if they added a path from THV to the Grandstand bus-stop.
However, I thought they were intending to use an existing walking path along the river (to OKW) that, last summer included crossing 2 bridges)

How do I travel to the main areas of the resort if I am staying in the Treehouse Villas?
Members and their Guests can either drive to the main areas of the resort or take the pedestrian path. The walking path extends from the Treehouse Villas to the rest of the resort via the Grandstand area.
I got this from the DVC web site.

I have not kept up enough on this, (and did not notice a path last week, at night while in a bus) but I thougth there was a post mentioning the THV path crossed the creek, then back near the SSR/golf clubhouse. I think the best location of the path would be in the middle of the 17th hole at LBV so that would never happen..

If you click on the link below you will see a bridge at the bottom which connects with the path from OKW to SSR, if you follow it east you end up at the boat dock at SSR. The second link shows a view of the total area

Those are old photos and I could be wrong but the DVC website sure made it sound as if there was a walkway going to the Grandstand. Those pictures do not show it going to the Grandstand. Maybe there is another walkway now.

There is a walking path behind the Grandstand Bldg. We walked it last Christmas and took pics. This is the view standing at the THV exit looking at the back of Grandstand Bldg #3. The path runs between #3 and #4 GS bldgs

It does cross a small bridge but I dont recall it being more than 4 steps long. Not crossing water or anything.
We stayed in the 3rd bldg and had a view of the golf course and THV. You can see the path and it is very close to that end of the THV. I would say those THV are closer to the main bldg than the Carousel. About 2-3 min walk if that. My boys ran down the slope from our room and we were there but due to construction, it was gated off.
After seeing how close the walkway was, I did not hesitate to book our THV for Christmas this year.
