Springtime Surprise Weekend (April 13-16, 2023)

Back to normal for me, but I can totally imagine that they're starting to prep the site for more race details.

I'm going to disagree and say it's not back to normal, the weekend appears again on the dropdown but now it's with the 2023 dates. Prior to that I was getting the old 2022 dates for that race in the dropdown. Ok maybe I'm obsessing a little!

You are correct. It's been the old dates up until now. Nice that they finally updated it.

Based upon the Princess Half Marathon reveal, I'm guessing that we'll find out about the Springtime Surprise themes on August 9. Does anyone agree or disagree?

I sincerely hope that they don't wait that long. At least with Princess we kind of knew the distances, etc.. With the "surprise" aspect of Springtime, I think that it would be nice for Disney to give people some more advanced warning about distances, themes, etc.

That being said, this IS Disney so anything can happen.

I'd guess it will not be longer than a half. I have zero information to back that up, just a hunch.

I would think the middle of April typically gets too warm too early in the day for anything much longer than a half.

It could be - it is a surprise after all - but I would bet that it won't be.

I'd love to see something creative like a 15K (9.3 miles) or a relay for the long distance. Disney does three other half marathons so I'd love to see a different distance, but that's just me.

For a typical runDisney weekend, the 5k is the first running day. This could be the night of the first day the Expo opens (13th) - or the morning the day after the Expo opens (14th).
However, since this is Springtime SURPRISE, and we’ve only had one year of it, anything is possible. Maybe a 5k will be on the last day.

Been away for a few weeks. Was hoping to come and see some news about what the races will be. I'm really hoping for another night race (I'd love them all to be at night, but I know that won't happen). I hop they'll release something soon. I'll register no matter what they do, I've already got my DVC room reservations and we'll just hope for the best.

I got excited when all the rD channels blew up yesterday, but it was just for the W&D medal reveal. Surprised that came before this announcement with registration looming soon!

I noticed they did that before the most recent registration. It was like they released the medals as a way to remind folks how "awesome and not-to-be-missed" the races are. Then a few weeks later the registration opened.... or at least that's how it seemed/felt to me at the time.

Yeah I don't see SS themes being announced this month. Early August....9th or 4th are my guesses.

I'm also switching my guess of theme (which I could absolutely love if it were pixar) to the Dumbo Double Dare and Tinkerbell Half. Because it requires no creativity from them whatsoever.

I thought about that as well. Since no runs in the Land they could recycle those over to the surprise weekend. I know it wouldn't be creative but I sure miss the Tinkerbell run and would love to see it back. It was the first RunDisney event I did. Also did the Pixar themed weekend which I think might have been my last one there.

Not a bad guess! I think it will still be attraction based for each race and they will tinker with the distance.... but who knows! I am excited to see what they can come up with

-Space/Future theme (overlaps with above)

-Spring/Flower and Garden (bonus for “Golden Afternoon” flowers or Isabella madrigil themed distance… bringing back DL’s Tinkerbell theme here fits too)
-Muppets (pipe dream I know lol but Disneyland had a Muppet themed cast race)
-Disney Afternoon
