Everyone's school break is at different times in March/April.

But for your area, do you feel like airfare prices remain high for your particular week or so they go down? :confused3

We are needing airfare for 7, March 14-21, from Oklahoma City. When I look at the current available prices, everything is great up until that week. The price is crazy! :scared1:

I have even looked at renting an RV to travel in (we are DVC so wouldn't need it to sleep in). :drive:
If the airfare remains this high, it will almost be a break even....including the gas!! But that's a 20+ hour drive that I don't want to spend on the highway. I'd rather spend it in the parks :woohoo:

I don't know. Airline prices overall are much higher now than previously. I paid almost as much for DH and I to fly down in a month than I did for DH, DS and I in June!
I have booked SW on April 1 for $132 each outbound for our spring break and have to wait for SW to open the return date the following week. But the same dates on Delta were running over $500 a person, so even if the return flights are $200 I'm on the good side of things and paying less than this October trip.

We're flying down April 5 and have to fly out of Flint instead of Detroit to use SW non-stop! I needed 11 tickets for our group and we lucked out with $148 flight to MCO. We're also waiting on the return flight home.

Keep checking on prices because they do fluctuate a lot!!! We originally booked at over $200 one way and prices dropped this past weekend and we rebooked. Delta wants over $1000 roundtrip for our dates if we chose to fly out of DTW.
I think it's worth the one hr drive to save this amount of money.

Good luck :)

Yes, everybody's break differs but the closer to Easter, the higher the cost. We went to WDW this past Easter break and ended up paying a lot for airfare. I was watching flights 11 months out and thought for sure it would come down, especially since I was looking so far out. It didn't. And worse, my choices got less, times and connection choices were terrible. I live in an area where I only have choice of two carriers. It's not worth it to drive to a major airport and do the hotel/park your car scenario. Ends up being more. From now on, if I see an airfare than I'm comfortable with and in my budget, I'll buy it then and stop looking. Airfare, especially during high travel season such as holidays, will always be more expensive and prices just keep going up.

I hear ya, we're looking at that next week and it's higher than I've ever paid. I've widened my scope of airports to look for deals, found good (well, still higher than I'm used to, but lower than regular carriers) rates on Allegiant out of Tulsa. But, I'm scared something will happen and there's only 1 flight out per week. Plus car rental rates are higher at Sanford than MCO. I did the math on driving too, but I'm with you--I'd rather be in the parks than on the road! I always used to buy right when SW would open their dates, now I'm going to sit back and watch rates instead. Good luck to you!

Got lucky with outbound - $112/person from MSP. Our inbound dates have not released yet, but other airlines are sitting at about $150/person. Ugh. We got the outbound 'free' because of FF miles, but still.

We have SW and SC that are sitting at the same price. Dates are 3/30 - 4/7 (over Easter)

ETA - we went 3/11 - 3/18 last year and we ended up paying under $200 a person. The prices came down mid December..

I am making myself sick worring about this. I have promised my 2 girls get to take a friend. So that is 6 tickets I am paying for and could cost a fortune!!
