Spring 2015 Dapper Day

The weather.com predictions are driving me insane, they change back and forth multiple times a day (as I suppose weather reports do). Last night it showed no rain on Sunday and now it says rain all 4 days we're there Sunday thru Tuesday. Rain doesn't bother me, but sheesh, can the weather gods chill out (not literally please) for a few days!?

Me too!! We have BB F! package booked for Monday night, and now I'm trying to guess if we should rebook it. I think I'm just going to re-do our whole plan and do that on Wed instead. Ugh. I know SoCal rain isn't predictable or the torrential amounts of other parts of the country, but it sure does mess with my planning!

It's so funny how we beg and plead for rain in this drought, but the one time it decides to show up is when we're going to Disneyland! Seriously...quit mocking me, rain!

I hear you sister!! I have a BB F! ressie booked for Sunday! I figured it would be worth it with the dapper day crowds, a guaranteed thing to do, but now I'm a little worried. They told me I could cancel last minute if weather was a factor and I wouldn't be charged the $10/pp. Here's hoping the weather participates and it all works out. I don't whine when it comes to Disney, but I would be lying if I said it wasn't annoying. Toddlers and rain are like Gremlins and food/water after midnight.

Isn't it the truth!! I can't even figure out what to pack. My Dapper outfit may look truly weird, as I hate cold so I've put in a big old ugly vintage coat to go over my dress, and since the coat isn't waterproof, a big clear vinyl poncho and an umbrella. Not exactly the elegant Club 33 look I was hoping for, LOL. I have NO idea how my shoes will do in the rain, either. Well...maybe the crowds will be smaller!

I still don't even have shoes yet! My espadrilles won't exactly work now, so I need to find something tonight, likely just black flats, but if they get wet, it's going to be squishy and gross. I even bought a whole new dapper outfit two days ago because my cute summer halter dress wasn't going to work. Here's hoping that new sucker fits when it comes via UPS today! Packing all these layers is killing the "carry on only" plan I was shooting for. Dd's cute dapper shoes are now purple wellie rain boots! Oh well, gotta just laugh and be damp I guess

I've decided to just resign myself to the fact that my feet are going to be damp. Over my dead body, will I be using a poncho on Dapper Day, however! I worked too hard on my outfit! I'm out of time to figure out different footwear... oh well. It will be ok. I don't think they are expecting even .1 inches of rain, even. That's hardly anything. I think we are all going to be OK!

We drive tonight, and I just can't wait to be back at Disneyland!

I'm trying to decide if I should pack an umbrella for DS, or just bring mine and squish the two of us under it. I'm just not sure it's a good idea to arm a short 7yr old boy with a Star Wars umbrella in a crowded place. Even if he's on his absolute best behavior, he's still likely going to be bumping into people with it. And heaven help us all if he's in a mood, in which case the umbrella will become an active participant in whatever plot line he's got going on in his head.

I finally found shoes that will work - a pair of black mary jane style keens. I had to get a 6.5, but I normally wear a 4.5 or 5! Totally weird sizing. I also tried on a slightly different style that had a few hot pink accents (they were very cute and perfect for the Maleficent disneybound), but the size 5 was way too big!! So strange. But the ones I have should work okay in the rain, and I've been wearing them around to break them in. There's one spot that rubs on my heel, but just putting a bit of moleskin on my foot solved that problem. I wore them all day yesterday and they were very comfortable!

I broke down and ordered a little fascinator because the custom hairclip I ordered hasn't arrived. I found a woman on etsy who said she could make me a Maleficent inspired clip, but after I ordered it I never head back from her. Such a bummer - it would have been cute and the perfect way to tie my outfit together. Oh well. DS is going to be excessively adorable, so I figure everyone will be looking at him instead of me anyway!

Can we just not have rain, please? I have this beautiful Belle disneybounding dress, but I don't want to freeze to death in it! We are actually thinking of not even trying to dress up if the weather is bad at this point because no one's nice clothes are made for the winter.

I know it's a little off topic but just can't help posting . I booked our hotel & airfare today--- we're coming for the fall Dapper Day Soiree!!!!! So excited to see everyone in their DD finest. We won't do period clothes, but I'm looking forward to wearing a nice flowery sundress. Hope you all have a great time this weekend & the rain holds off.

I've been enjoying having a room INSIDE DCA all night. I'm directly over the gch entrance facing grizzly. I have a nice view of grizzly, Napa and the fireworks. If I could get this room location ( but higher) every time I'd be in heaven. Can't wait to see everybody in their dapprt finery come Sunday

Don't forget about the DIS meet on Sunday everyone. 3:00 on the 3rd floor at the Grand (Above the check in desk). If it's rainy, at least it will be a nice place to stay dry and visit with some friends.

The real question. Will be if they question me going up there with a Manhattan in each hand and my wife with a side car in each hand. Can u send an 8 year old for refills?

We're considering just dressing up for the party at 1 and the meet. I worked too hard on these outfits to ruin them. Of course I only got DS, DD and Dhs done and not mine.

I'm in a jocular mood this morning. The weather isn't going to spoil my fun!! If I'm a little soggy, so be it! I'll take one for the team Lcasa is bringing enough premixed tiki rums to keep me mellow, I think! Whoever, just send your kids down with Starbucks cups and have them discreetly refilled Your room sounds awesome! Party in Whoever's room! LOL.
