**spoilers*** Lost Season Five **spoilers**

Oh and what did they mean by saying maybe the pilot can be a 'candidate'?? A candidate for what?

To replace Jacob? I remember when they showed us a silhouette of Jacob in the rocking chair in the cabin and it kind of looked like the pilot. It's the same time Jacob said "help me". :scratchin

I know crazy talk but you never know!

I think it was the guy he was talking to at the beginning of the show. :thumbsup2

I was not paying really good attention tonight but I know there were a few things, should have written them down:sad2:, that made me go "hmmm"

Nope, it was the guy at the very beginning that was sitting with Jacob. He found his loophole with a fake Locke and an angry Ben. :(

wow I feel like a moron--so sad! I LOVE Locke!

So all these years, both sides (the Others/Losties) were pawns in a war/battle between Jacob and that other guy. We're suppose to think it's over and the bad guy won. I don't think so.

Sorry I keep posting but this show was just awesome! I keep thinking about it and remembering more things.

You know, it seems to me if drilling would cause that magnetic whatever to bust open that a large blast would rip it further open, not dampen it!

oh. my. JACOB! What was that?!?! Such a good episode, now I can't wait for 2010! I wish it just came back on in the fall, but then it would it would be over sooner too. I knew that wasn't Locke this whole episode, I kept saying, "That's not Locke..." Oh I wonder what hapens after the kaboom!!!!!

How did you and the other people on here know it wasn't Locke? I had no clue!

I guess a couple of things. First when the real Locke went to Jacob's cabin he heard Jacob say "help me" and Locke always wanted to do what the island told him to. So whenever he said that he wanted to kill Jacob... I was thinking there's something wrong here! Then also thinking back to when Ben went to be judged by smokey in the temple- Locke disappears and Smokey appears and then Alex... As soon as Alex is gone, hey Locke's back! Plus, I didn't think that they would have an entire episode titled "Dead is Dead" for no reason.

Holy hell that episode was amazing. I was left speechless at the end.

To be honest...the "death" didn't really bother me, it was the reaction that broke my heart (I don't want to spoil it too much for anyone who hasn't seen it.)

I still have SO many questions though. When does season 6 start again? :rotfl:

Vincent, Rose and Bernard!!! :cool1::goodvibes

I was SO happy to see them, even if Bernard started growing that Jack-esque beard

I saw that Destiny Found thing, quite interesting.

Does anyone know what language they were speaking?

I was thinking maybe Latin? I wish I knew!

It hasn't been mentioned yet, but it appears that the statue is of Sobek...Egyptian god of protection, power and fertility (I know there was a lot of discussion that it might be Tawaret, Horus or Inubus). My guess is that once the statue crumbled the women on the island started having fertility problems. Google Sobek for more info.

I'm also wondering if the two at war (Jacob and they guy at the beginning/fake Locke) are Good and Evil or, perhaps, the embodiment of warring Egyptian gods.

I am wondering if it could possibly be Egyptian? Or whatever language they spoke back in ancient Egypt. I think that statue is the biggest clue as to what this Island is.

"What lies beneath the statue?"

"ille qui nos omnes servabit" which means...."He who will save us all"

I looked up Egyptian Gods and some that stood out to me are Amun, the God of Creation, and when I clicked on Ammit it went to Annubis who was the guide of the dead!

http://gwydir.demon.co.uk/jo/egypt/index.htm

Anubis was shown as a hieroglyphic on the wall near where Smokey emerged. They did a quick shot of the image and it was Anubis facing Smokey. Anubis has the head of a dog so the statue is not him. Horus has the head of a bird and Tawaret has the head of a hippo (and a very pregnant belly) so it's not them. Sobek has the head of a crocodile and is usually shown holding an ankh. Bingo!

I'm thinking that this whole thing is a God vs. Satan kind of thing, but with the Egyptian god equivalents.

awesome!!! what language is that?

I've always thought the statue was Anubis and there were some other Anubis like drawings in the temple.

What I meant was that Jacob and this other guy could be one off those Gods. :thumbsup2

I think the notion that the destruction of the Sobek statue could be the reason that the women were unable to have babies is a good one.
