Split Stay at Same Resort - How Will This Work?

I booked a 3 night stay through Orbitz beginning on 5/23-5/26 at Pop Century. I added on one more night to the beginning of the trip (arriving 5/22 now)... the addition was done through Disney (much cheaper than what Orbitz wanted to charge me). So here's my question...

On 5/22 our plan lands at 7:15pm. Our luggage should arrive by 10pm that night but we'll be leaving for the 24 hour event the following morning (I'm guessing about 4:30am) and staying at MK till 6am the following morning. I'm supposed to check out and check back in on 5/23... will they combine the two stays and let me stay where I am?

I'm not sure what to do with the luggage... bell services isn't open that early, are they?

They could link the two stays for you and then you have a chance of being able to stay in the same room, but it is not guaranteed. You will still have to check out and check back in.

Bell services is always open.

We did this at BWV last year (still using KTTWs) and while we were able to keep the same room (same class of room for both reservations) we did have to re-check in and get new KTTWs.

With MBs now you may not have to check-in again if you are in the same room - recommend you discuss with the CM at the first check-in.

You will have to check in again, because you made one reservation through a third party broker and the other through Disney. You'll need to ask when you check in for the first one about linking them, but it won't be guaranteed you can keep the same room.

I didn't realize that bell services is always open. That solves that issue...

I'm hoping they'll be accommodating with the 24 hour even going on. I'll have to check out at 4am and then check in again... lol but technically we won't be back until the 24th. Yikes!

I don't think you can check in for the next day until about 6 AM but they may be able to help you with that at the desk.

Yep.

I'm hoping they'll be smart enough to have contingency plans for people taking part in that!

You can ask that the two reservations are linked. Regardless of who they were booked through, you will need to check in twice.

I would say that when you check in the 1st time, that is when you should ask if it's possible to stay in the same room. Again, you will still need to check in a 2nd time.

That is what happened when I did this in September, with two consecutive bookings at POFQ. :goodvibes

I've had split stays at the same resort before and they've never made me change rooms. I just go down to the lobby that morning and checkout and check back in. I don't see why you'd need to change unless the room category you booked is different?

We did it at the BCVs too. Villas and regular resorts do have differences that make villas less flexible. But yeah, we had bell services come and get our bags in the morning, early (as you found out, they're always there) and then we went off to the parks and checked in when we got back and they brought out the bags. It's a pain, but if it's what you have to do, you roll w/ it. It was the ONLY way we could get 3 days in a 1 bedroom at the BCVs during Food and Wine. Since they have 2 different types of 1 bedrooms, our reservations couldn't be linked to 1. Hopefully, at a value resort, they'll be able to finagle things to keep you in the same room. Have fun! :goodvibes

Thanks! My worry is that I'll only be able to check out/in at 4am before we head off to MK for the 24 hours... then I won't be back till the following day. If NEED BE I suppose I could leave the park for a bit but I'd rather not :) I'll just have to see my options when I get there.

As long as you leave a CC on file, you won' need to check out at all. But then you're saying you won't be checking in until the following day after you leave? Like, in the midnight hours or....? You're sleeping somewhere right? Just a little confused. Trying to help tho. There's always someone at the check-in desks though, no matter the hour.

I can tell you what happened to us on this subject. I don't know if it answers any questions you have :)

We had 1 night at all- star music with the rest of the stay at all-star movies and the front desk just let us stay our entire vacation at all-star movies :)

The other time it happened was at beach club....we were in our first room for 2 days had to check-out and check-in to the next room.....now they did say we could of stayed in the same room but OMG am I glad we checked into a different room (a little bit of disney magic from the front desk :)).... She upgraded us to a king room overlooking storm along bay.....such a cool room. :thumbsup2

Good luck ....and I'm sure they will just set you for the same room the entire time....

But she's leaving the first room BEFORE the computers switch over to the next hotel-day. She won't be able to check IN to the next room at that time.

She is doing the 24 hour event. I think it is on the 23rd? She's going to be at a park for 24 hours. She's leaving the resort at around 4:30am on the 23rd, which is before she can check in to the second reservation (b/c hotels switch over at around 6am). She will be playing the whole time until the following morning which is the 24th on the calendar. She will be arriving after 6am on the 24th. She will have completely missed the window to check in for the night of the 23rd.

That's why one hopes they have a way to deal with this and not release her room.

When we were arriving at POR at around 2am due to a late flight, I was able to indicate that on the online checkin page. Our awesome room was ready and waiting for us when we got there.

I don't know how far into the morning the online checkin goes.

The OP will want to spend some time talking to the CM at initial checkin, to see what can be done to keep that room so she doesn't have to bring bags to be held during the time she's at the 24 hour event.

(I personally would be tempted, if I knew I would be there literally 24+ hours with no urges to go back to the room, to just not have a room for the 23rd, but I probably would chicken out on that, LOL)
