splash mountain: lap bars now installed

My husband and I barefly fit in the SM seats because we're very tall, our knees are high when we sit, and they hit the back of the seat in front of us. With the lap bars we either won't be able to ride, now, or we'll have to see if they'll let us sit in separate seats :(

If this is any warning of what's to come, I imagine next we'll be seeing lap bar additions to It's a Small World, so those inclined to escape the frightful cruise will be forced to sit and watch in horror. ;)

I'm a little big and those type of lap bars suck. Each person should get there own. That way its not snug on one person and no good for the other

I refuse to ride that ride again unless they can promise me my DFI can fit and he is 6ft 230 pounds and it is all because that ride scares me to death

the ability to keep feeling in my legs, that's if I even will fit in it now(well enough for the bar to "click")...plus the added 30-45 seconds per boat on load and unload, plus the fact that it was an unneeded change that was only brought about by peoples stupidity

I am really tired of the name calling and the rudeness.

I thought I remembered that the man who fell out (there may have been more than one) had a panic attack about going down the hill. If you have ever been with someone in a full-fledged panic attack you realize they are not thinking rationally.

That is my fear on water rides too! Mine comes from it actually happening several times though. Mostly on the round ones like Kali.

Not to freak you out but I have to post in case anyone says-that never happens.

I have this fear too!!! on the round barge type rides(popeye and bluto in particular at IOA), its been one of those things that I generally just suck it up and get on since the rest of my group all love those rides but sit and panic the whole way round:scared1:

This is the fault of people who decide to be stupid on a ride. I was there once and two young idiots on the boat in front of me decided to get out of their seats decided to sit on top of the boat. The woman with them didn't do anything. I yelled at them but they couldn't hear me.

It is still closed, but they seem to be testing yesterday. I don't like it at all. My 3 yo granddaughter rode it in October with no problem. How much lower can the height go if a 3 yo can ride it before the lap bars. Her sister also started riding it at 3 yo. I don't see a need for it. Besides, not sure if the lap bar is one or two, but if a large person uses a lap bar with a little person, the lap bar will have no effect.

I think this is a good thing. I was on the ride one evening and it stopped on the outside by the small waterfall. Well, the family in our log decided they didn't want to wait and dad, mom and oldest child got out. Dad then pulled out the youngest (probably @5 yrs old) just as the log started moving again. The poor kid almost fell in the water. Needless to say, our log immediately stopped short, all the flood lights came and an announcement was made for everyone to stay where they were. Needless to say, the father decided to walk away with family in tow and cast members came out a side door and went running after them.

I've always wondered if they were escorted out of the park after that.

Not a fan of the lap bars. Why fix what ain't broke? Being a plus sized girl, this will only make what used to be a fun ride more anxious for me.

Lap bars or not, we will be there Sunday and I would sure appreciate them opening it just a day early:)
