I was not totally set on flying Spirit since I use to work for them and its not my #1 favorite airline. But when Delta cost almost 1300 (DTW to mco) for 5 tickets and I was able to book Spirit for only 547.00 I had to jump all over Spirit. The baggage fee is only 18 per bag but we get 5 free carry on, I really had to go with it. We will only have two checked bags each way so we are still saving a TON of money.

Hope others can get as great of a deal.pixiedust:

Yes that is my question too? How are you avoiding carry on charges.

And a checked bag now is $28, not 18. How did you manage that as well??

Good for you if it is true!!! But I would double check things if you don't have some "magic" helping you out.

Have a great trip!!

Carryons are free on Spirit as long as they fit under the seat. If you need to put them in the overhead, THEN they charge you.

You get one free small carry on, (the size of a small back pack) and when you have five tickets you can cram enough stuff in five small bags to work.

When your a member of the $9 fare club check bags are only $18

ONLINE (Member) ONLINE (NON-MEMBER)

$18 $28

I know its not the best copy and paste but here is the link if you go down and check the prices of the checked bag and look at the $9 fare club you will see I am right.....

Camera bags are the perfect grey area. I have a camera rollaboard that I've never been charged for... as long as a camera remains in the bag.
