Spinoff: Rocky Horror Picture Show

I definitely am interested in seeing it, but I don't know if it can live up to the original. I don't have cable so I'll have to wait for someone streaming to pick it up.

It wasn't on cable, it was on network over the air TV. You just needed an antenna.

I watched about 30 min. I had to get to bed, so I did record the rest, but not sure I liked it enough to actually watch.

The original had two great actors on it: Susan and Tim.

I also saw it a few times at the Roxy and nothing can beat that. I was much younger then......great memories.

The original was on Logo right after the one on Fox was over. I stayed up to watch it. I just liked the over all mood of the original movie better.

I love the original and was surprised that it wasn't too bad, IMO. I am very glad that Tim Curry was still involved (I :lovestruc him!) and I thought he looked wonderful, given his medical history. My 1-year-old was quite taken with it (yep, Mother of the Year here :scared:  ) but DH's expression clearly said "What on earth am I watching???"
Don't feel too bad. My friend's parents met doing a stage version of the show. My friend and her siblings grew up watching it.

Can't pick up fox with our antenna. We can only get a couple local stations that come in completely clear. I don't know if it's where we have it or if it's a bad antenna. It's on Hulu now so we'll probably watch it this weekend.

It was ok. Can't compare anything to 8th Street Playhouse where I saw it as a teenager.

With a few exceptions, it wasn't bad. I didn't have high expectations, so it didn't disappoint. Decent entertainment.

Those few exceptions:

Ben Vereen was horrid.

Didn't like Columbia was a semi-comatose meth head Cyndi Lauper wannabe.

A few painful lip syncing slip-ups.

This woman redeemed things a bit.

Dreadful- it was PAINFUL to watch. I saw the original every weekend at midnight when I was a teen and have brought my own daughter to the midnight shows from around the time she was 10 or 11- but this was horrible.

I didn't think it was too bad. I expected it to be a lot worse. DD was majorly disappointed and had to immediately watch the original to wash this one out of her brain.

I must be the only one that loved it! Ha ha. I saw the original a few dozen times in the theater, with stage production and props and all, in the 90's. Let's face it, THAT'S what made it fun. The story line itself is beyond bizarre and this new version stayed true to the old one. I loved the make-up and the costumes, and the paying homage to the audience participation. Ben Vereen WAS absolutely horrible- but it worked with the overall cheesiness of the whole thing. I preferred the new Columbia to the old though- that original one was very unattractive to me. This one was much cuter. LOL

I liked Laverne in the beginning, with the red corset and hair. The end was a little odd for me, when she was ALL woman, if I'm comparing it to the original. Still really enjoyed it overall. I've watched it twice so far, the second time just to hear the music again. I think Victoria Justice did a fabulous job!

Watched it long enough to see Adam Lambert and then turned it. Didn't like it.

I watched the first 10 minutes or so. It wasn't bad, per se, but the whole time I just thought, "I'd rather be watching the original" -- so after 10 minutes of thinking that, I turned it off and put in my VHS of the original and was perfectly content.

Horrid...that's the only word that came to my mind! I am a complete and total devotee to the original, having played Columbia and Magenta both for 2 years at the Dormont Theater in Pittsburgh and I just could not stomach this. Laverne was awful. Frank is not meant to have boobs!! He is a transvestite- which is a MAN that dresses as a woman! That annoyed me to no end- couldn't get past it. This Brad/Janet definitely out sung the originals..but their lack of singing skills added to the cheesiness, and although I adore Reeve Carney....he was not a good Riff-Raff, he was way too spaztic.

Unlike many others, I DON'T want to see the original again. It just doesn't do it for me anymore. The last time was about 5 years ago on TV and it was cut up by numerous commercials.

I guess I'm too old now, or my outlook on life has changed. I'd rather remember it how it was in the "golden age." circa 1978 to 1982.

Still, I'm glad I watched the new version.

We've got Girls' Night Out planned for tomorrow night at a local theatre to see the original RHPS. . In the 80s, when I was young and hot, I went as Miss Columbia. Now that I'm older, I'm going to be Magenta. We're taking 2 virgins with us tomorrow! I can't wait until their devirginization!!!
