specials between Christmas and New Year?

My husband and I are looking to do something different for Christams this year and take a family vacation instead of buying more "stuff" that will ultimately just take up space. Our target travel time, due to my work schedule, is 5 days 4 nights between about December 28-January 2. I realize that this is the ultimate peak season, but are there EVER any specials at this time or is everything super full price? We have been to Disney before and had the most wondeful time that it made the top of our short list of places to go! Thanks for your help!!

I don't think you will find any discounts in that time frame.

I'm also not sure you will find any availability for that time frame, since it's already August. I think most of the hotels are pretty booked up already and have been for some time.

It's the most crowded time of the entire year -- the days between Christmas and New Year's.

As others have said, that week between Christmas and New Year's is the busiest of the year. It's also considered "holiday" season, so the rates are generally at their highest. It may be difficult, if not impossible to find a room this late in the year.

However, keep trying Disney reservations (call them) -bookings are down this summer, and with the worsening economy, you never know if someone will cancel their trip. If you do manage to find something, ask about any discounts -annual pass, AAA, etc. They won't generally volunteer discounts, you have to tell the person when booking the package. Allears.net also has general (public) discount codes.

Another thought -have you looked into renting DVC points from a DVC member? Search the DVC boards here (I think there is one for people selling/people looking to rent). Not sure if it's just the two of you, but maybe you could get a nice studio or one bedroom during that week?
