We leave for Disney in 12 days. 5 years ago at the exact time my family went to Disney just 3 weeks after I had a radical hysterectomy (abdominal). A lot of people thought I was nuts to go then but we had it booked for a whole year and even cancer wasn't going to keep me from my trip! My ADR's were done and my DD had a BBB booking! No way was I missing out!

As the days led up to the trip I had a lot of issues, I was in pain, had difficulty walking any length of time and mentally I was a wreck. But we still went. From the moment I stepped foot on that plane it was like someone had flipped a switch. We got to Disney and it was EXACTLY what I needed. I somehow managed to walk everywhere at my usual speed (which is hard for people to keep up with me!). We had a great time and the best part was, mentally I was myself again! I came home from that trip and I was ME, not someone that was terrified and scared. It was SUCH a blessing to me.

So, here we are just 12 days away from this trip and I am SUPER excited to celebrate being 5 years cancer free. I just got the results back from my 5 year check up a couple of days ago! It truly is the most magical place on earth and it will always be special to me!

Oh, wow, that's an awesome story! I had a total hysterectomy at 27, and I can't even imagine trying to do WDW right after that! I'm so glad it has been your happy place! And congratulations on the five years cancer free, that's a huge blessing! :yay::yay::yay:

:goodvibes Thanks!!!!! I am beyond excited!!

What a wonderful story! And congratulations to you on 5 years of hope being fulfilled and cancer free! I'm a bit like you - walk faster than anyone I know; had a total hysto years ago for many, many problems and I feel so much better overall since! After my surgery I got up and walked around and did more quickly and it really changed my attitude towards so much in life that I had been holding back!

I'm sure your trip this fall was wonderful! And congratulations again!!!

Have a wonerful trip and congrats on 5yrs cancer free. Attitude has so much to do with cancer recovery and WDW has so much to do with poitive attitude.
