That's really tough. Is there someone else in her office that you can contact? Otherwise, I'm not sure how you can do this in advance, but you can certainly do it when you get onboard with your head server. I would suggest you try to call DCL and see if they will help you, but keep in mind if your mom checks her own reservation she will find out.

Thanks again everyone for the Birthday Wishes! I really appreciate it!

Tracy did you ever get my email with our info for late linked dinning?

I did, thank you!

I've been having a rough week, but didn't want to post about it until I knew more. Many of you know that my mom passed away last August after a short battle with lung cancer. Her dog, Buddy, has lost two owners (both of my parents) in the last five years and we have been very concerned about him. Lately he has been not eating well and losing major amounts of weight. In the last three weeks he lost 10 pounds. He was tested this week because they suspected cancer, but the test was normal. We still don't know what is wrong but it is not cancer so that is a relief. The vet did say that dogs will stop eating as much and losing weight when they are close to the end of their lives, so this has been weighing heavy on my mind. I'm leaving in 38 days and I hope he gets better before we leave so I don't feel guilty for leaving.

Thanks for listening :goodvibes

Tracy, I have had a sick 13 yo Sheltie and dealing with stomach issues - dehydrated, fever, diahrea and vomiting. I also had a 16 yo that did the same thing; stoppped eating. A vet tech told me to add a spoon full of yogurt to his food. It did help. It also introduces good bacteria back into their digestive tract. It is worth a shot. Now, he prances waiting for his food. Hope it helps.

My sister has been feeding him beef and rice and he seems to eat that. She's starting to mix it in with his food and he's eating both so it's been ok for a couple days now. He probably would like the yogurt too. When he comes by us we have doggie ice cream treats for him and he loves that.

How old is he? We give our chicken/rice or beef/rice when they have problems. Our other guy used to stop eating when we went on vacation. We would come back and could feel his ribs. Vet told us to put a spoon of moist food on his dry stuff. I like the yogurt better. I hate the smell of moist dogfood!! I hope he keeps responding to what you guys are doing.

He is 13. At one point he was 90 pounds and the vet said he wasn't fat (both parents were very big springers). He is down to 55 pounds now.

Here he is a couple years ago

What a sweetie!! I know our 13 yo has lost a lot of muscle tone. He has always weighed about 45 lbs. - I know, that is big for a Sheltie. He isn't fat, just oversized. He now weighs 35 lbs. That is a similar ratio of weight loss given the size of the dog. Our vet told us that this is part of the aging process. He may never weigh that much again but if his eyes are clear and bright, he is still doing well.

 Maybe it's the heat of too? Of course he could still be adjusting to change. One day at at ime, and lots of love. Thanks for sharing.

Tracy -
I hope all is well with the doggie. Did the vet check kidney fuction? My folks dog recently had the similar symptoms and her kidneys were not functioning. I am guessing the vet probably checked that as I believe it is routine for blood work, though. It is tough because our pets just can't tell us. Regardless, I hope all goes okay.
