Thank you for the clarification on how all this will work. :goodvibes

woo hoo!!!! I'm totally excited!!!! I just booked Mom's birthday present!!!! We're doing the Backstage Magic Tour at WDW on August 28!!!!! I can't wait!!!!! Based on the brief description provided by the CM...it sounds like the tour has changed a bit (we took it back in 2000) and now lunch is at the Whispering Canyon Restaurant at the Wilderness Lodge instead of Mama Melrose's at MGM....opps HS (I think it will always be MGM to me). Also saved 15% with our annual passes. Now to keep it a secret until Mom's birthday on August 4th!!!!! Wish me luck...I'm not too good at keeping secrets!!!!

We took it in 2000 too... on August 4th, when Joe turned 40! LOVED IT! Hey! Were you on our tour? Wouldn't that have been something!

Let us know how it has been updated. :thumbsup2

I know! YMMV
THE anwser is no! :furious: :(

I know this will sound stupid as I've been posting here for years, but what does YMMV mean?

And you mean that no, they won't help us book SIL's Palo? Great. Just want I need to hear right now when I'm still angry with my husband over forgetting to book it.:furious:

Your Mileage May Vary?

It's not likely they will help you. If you wanted to add them to your reservation, they may be able to help with that, but not for themselves. If they are new cruisers, it is likely that they wouldn't have gotten a reservation in advance anyway (so go easy on your hubby).

Really? Was everything gone at the 75 day mark? Wow. Our first cruise was before the time of internet booking and we were in a Cat 3 so we had no problems booking anything.

We do want to add them to our reservation, I guess. We have a Palo brunch and dinner booked and we want them to join us. So they would be eating with us, not alone, if that makes any difference. I so don't want to miss Palo, but if they can't go then I would feel really guilty going without them. Ugh.

Just contact concierge (and have their reservation number available when you do). They should be able to help you.

Maybe if you link them.

Can someone please explain this to me.

we are trying to book a stay at the all-star resorts at WDW a few days before the sail date. I wanted to stay 3 nights, Aug 28-31 (we are visiting my Grandmother the night before the sail date) It shows no rooms available. Now if I change my dates to Aug 28-Sep 3, suddenly there is availability. Does Disney just not like to book a room for 3 nights???

We ended up booking for two nights at Pop Century (Aug 28-30) and we are going to try and tag on the third night at a later date, or switch to another resort for the 3 nights. It just makes it very difficult.

Contact Winotracy, She can help! ;)

Question prior cruisers! Have you ever used private transportation to get to the port? Trying to decided whether to keep our rental car or not. There isn't much of a difference in cost but we have always rented a car for the week. It just never made sense for us to do a split rental.

May want to try it , the split rental it is painless!
hop on Avis shuttle and put stuff in car and go!

Ok going to update roster and informational page...

Peter,
Is it easier to load up all of your luggage on the shuttle and then go get the car, or can you take the shuttle and come back and get your stuff?

I was going to drop off my DW and DS with the luggage and then drop off the car and take the shuttle back to the port on the way in and I was just thinking of doing the opposite on the way out.

Thank you for the clarification on how all this will work. :goodvibes

Forgot to mention that sometimes, several cabins will team up, to make the cost better for them!

Such is the case, with the Lanyard group.

As the cost for that project can be overwhelming!
but when split with many it is affordable.

We did that on our last cruise and it worked very well. We will be doing it again this time a round.

Does your whole family get on the shuttle with all of your luggage or does someone stay at the port (or on the boat) and wait to be picked up?

My Dh drops the family and luggage off at the port, I'll be checking in the luggage while he returns the car and catch the shuttle back and then he'll meets us inside. We will be doing the same thing when we return. This seemed to worked much better for us. On our first cruise, the entire family and luggage went to the car rental and tried to take the shuttle back but we had to wait awhile, there was several large families aheads of us, and on both trips there seem to be an extra seat for one.

When we tried this week for rooms before the cruise--most were showing sold out! We were in a panic. But I think people call and cancel all the time, since after we had tried to book on line, then to call Disney, we got back on line and there were openings...go figure!

Good luck!

Ok, I booked the Aug 28- Sep 3 at All Star Movies. Made the deposit. Now I'll cancel the 2 day at Pop Century, and at some point "shorten" our vacation plans and drop the extra days.

Thanks for the help.

Very cool, I already booked both rentals, but wasn't sure of the details.
Did you hang out on the ship, or wait with the luggage for your DH to return with the car?

We got a rate of $250 for the week thru Hertz Simply Wheelz. The rate for a split rental wasn't any cheaper probably because of our precruise stay. I will probably just stick with the rental I have.

We all left the ship together, and Me and the kids just waited outside at the drop-off area. There's CM 's that will guide you to the drop off area.

That was $250 taxes and fee included for a minivan. It does make a difference to know what kind of vehicle. DUH!
