Speaking of sharpies... I was just reminded..

WHAT!!!! There's GRASS on the ship???? Where??? :scared1:

I wish I could post photo's of the character suites! You really wouldn't believe how demanding the characters can be, such diva's!

Pluto and his freshly mowed grass (changed twice a day), Donald and Daisy with their own oceanview pond, Goofy's private putting course, and don't get me started on the BIG M and speciality cheese platters.... :)

Ex Techie :)

I'd like to make a comment about Chip & Dale and cans of mixed specialty nuts but somehow I suspect it would only go South from here......:lmao:

Thanks extechie for the laughs!! This past cruise *I* got to make several of the CM's laugh OUT LOUD with some of my Disney jokes including Cruise director Julie, Clayton, and some of the other Ships Officers, oh and the guy in charge of the adult entertainment from Scotland I believe. I love being able to return the favor and make them smile! :goodvibes

We got ours signed on the Magic last January. I sent in all of the different colored Bic Mark-Its in a gallon baggie, and got all of them back. My daughters both have their pillowcases hanging in their rooms.

OK, the only "Cruise Director Julie" I can think of was on a TV show about a million years ago. Are you thinking of Rachel or is there a CD I haven't met yet?

Yep, I did not get my markers back. They noted on the sheet how many markers I turned in.

I also did not get back the 7 colorful sharpies noted on my sheet. I was kind of upset, since they were brand new, but oh well. At least DS's pillowcase had been signed colorfully!

Oh my Gosh!! Yes, I meant Rachel!! :lmao:
On our cruise, when She introduced herself she said something to the effect of 'go ahead call me Julie, I'm used to it and chances are, I'll answer!' We all laughed. Clayton was also onboard as he was scheduled to take over in a week or two. I had both of them LOLing in the atrium at some of my Disney jokes. Clayton took me and introduced me to one of the other officers and said I HAD to tell him my jokes as he NEVER laughed and hardly even broke a smile when they told jokes. Well I got one LOL and all smiles! That was a really good time that evening. I enjoy meeting the staff. They really are a great crew!! :goodvibes

Since most of you have done this before I'm wondering if you think bringing the pillowcase is a better idea or if this would be a better keepsake?

Technically I've already ordered the personalized pillowcases before I even remembered I had this artwork coming. I'd probably need to order a 2nd one if I went with the art since I only have one but have two children.

Thanks in advance for any responses :)

If it were me, I would probably go with the pillowcases.
I like that piece just the way it is!! If you must get it signed, I would only get it done by Mickey & Minnie. The problem is if it by chance it isn't done neatly (which usually doesn't happen, but can...) than you risk having the look of the piece compromised. So that call is Totally up to you....
Good luck with your decision! but whatever you decide, Have a FABULOUS cruise!!! :goodvibes

I thought this was a nice reminder to all of us of how hard the crew work to make the cruises magical.

As a former Crew Member in another department, I am aware that signing these items is a volunteer service the characters are providing. This is often done on their rest time between meet and greet sessions. While there is little excuse for lost markers, one can't even be sure if they were lost in the Guest Services/transport process of if this happened during the signing.

Items are obviously signed by one character and passed to the next. It truly is based on which characters are available to participate at any given time. If Pluto needs a dog biscuit or a walk in the grass, he might not be available to sign an item.

The CMs really do try to meet guest expectations, and succeed most of the time. Please be aware that they have chosen to give up their "free time" to provide this service to the guests. If there is truly a problem, by all means report it--that's how they improve service.
But if it is "item 2 wasn't as pretty as item 1," remember that they might have been done at different times or that the characters may have had other things to take care of. The alternative might be to charge for this service and have them do it "on the clock," or to eliminate the practice totally.
