Spaceship Earth question

When you get to the very top and your seat/car spins around to the right, what are you looking at? I thought it was Earth, but my sister says it can't be....as we are "standing" on Earth looking out to the stars and something. Is it Earth, the moon, just a planet? Thanks!

Since the theme of the ride is communications, we are probably enjoying the perspective of a communications satellite, that has access to the whole world (sorry, half of it) at a single moment.
I don't have the script of the attraction at that point, and I never really thought about it before, but the question was interesting and I think I am on the right track.
Think of it: you are at the high point of the ride, you are looking at the dome at the inside of the top of the "golf ball," and you are at the logical end of the historical progression of the ride.

All of this is so well tied together that I cannot imagine them ever replacing it with anything better conceived.

Just get rid of the wand.

I thought it was that we are on the moon and the earth is like on the wall and huge like video thing. I haven't ridden it in a while but i remember the rocks that are around you seem like the moon and the earth is an image on the wall.

I think its earth and you are suppose to be looking back at it as if you were in space. If I recall this part of the ride, they are talking a lot about communications and satellites and the such. There is a scene with a man fixing one of the satellites. I will look more closely when I am there in a couple of months..smjj

Boy, don't I agree with that statement. I love it. Last week I told the CM loading that if they stop the ride please do it when I get to the top. I could look at that for hours.

Yes, You are looking at Spaceship Earth from some unidentified observation point. Doesn't really matter where, it is so great to look at.

I wouldn't mind if they returned the guys in their space suits repairing the satelite though. They took that out a few years ago and I wish they'd put it back. LOL


I do believe it's Earth we're looking at when the ride vehicles turn and go back down the track.

Yeah, the rocks there are what makes her think we are on land...thus the earth. I thought it was Earth we were looking at, but she seemed to confident that it wasn't.

I believe it is just supposed to be a view of the Earth, obviously from space.

Remember, the narration just before you turn to face the Earth says, "... on this, our Spaceship Earth."

I don't think where YOU are is the point, it is the point that what you are looking at is our Spaceship Earth.

Also, don't ignore the "Please remain seated" announcement. Where it tells you that you will be rotating backwards for your "return to Earth."
