Can anyone tell me how Space Mountain is configured in DL. Are riders seated alone in a single file line (like WDW) or do you sit 2 next to each other? I've heard that it is/may have been 2 next to each other. Just looking to confirm current configuration as I have a 5 year old who will be riding for the first time and the single file configuration in WDW makes me very nervous with a first time rider.

Thank you!

DLR is side by side. My DS was afraid to ride in single seat (back to back, but separated) at WDW at age 5 & age 6. On the DL version (at age 7) he sat scrunched against me.

Now, at age 8.... SM (along with the Matterhorn) is his favorite ride.

Thank you! My older DD rode at WDW when she was 5 and was totally fine (she also rode Everest 4 times in a row at age 6!) but I was a total basket case waiting for my husband and her to exit. My current 5 year old DD is not as adventerous and I hate not being next to them for at least the first time!
This makes me feel better!

Just so you know, SM at Disneyland is DARK!!! Like, seriously dark. Much much darker than at WDW. All you see are the swirling stars. You cannot see the track at all. I love it, but for a non adventurous 5 year old...I don't know. I have an adventurous 3.5 year old who loves the Matterhorn, but I honestly wouldn't feel comfortable putting him on Space Mtn at Disneyland until he's like 7 or 8. It's an INTENSE ride. It's faster than WDW's and very wild...lots of sharp turns. It's almost a constant turn, lots of g-forces and whipping around.

Just thought this info might help. I'd STRONGLY advise riding first before making up your mind about your 5 year old riding.

Has your 3.5 year-old ridden splash mountain? Our daughter will be 4 in July and wants to ride it really bad and I'm not sure. It's one of my favorites, so I want to let her but I'm afraid I'll ruin her if it freaks her out. She's pretty adventurous :). (My son rode it at 4 1/2 and didn't want to ride again until 8).....

Splash or Space?

Thank you for the additional information - I appreciate it!

Both of my kids rode splash between ages 3 and 4 and loved it! One adventerous and another less adventerous! My 3 year old niece who doesn't even like big slides at the playground rode it in Jan and loved it. I think it depends on the child. On the other hand I have seen some children cry at the end. I usually try to be honest with my kids and let them see some people go down at the end so they know what to expect and let them make their own mind up.

My youngest rode splash at 4 and loved it. At 5 she loved SpaceMT but 7 year old was scared of the dark. Last year at 6 & 8 they were fanatics on Space but it was lighted up for the Rockin experience and you could see the track some.

One measure is if your child likes BTMRR or MM there is a good chance they will be ok on Space. My daughter at 4 loved both of those.

Thanks. I think we'll give it a go. Probably just let her ride splash and save sm for the next trip.
