I understand why. Last May I went to Universal for the first time since the park opened in 1991 and was blown away. Definetly going back for more, but Disney will always have my heart

They were running cars two weeks ago but the outside looks like it still has a ways to go. Not sure how much of a sign this really is.

ETA - the video shows the old cars. The new cars are still being refurbed and look really great from what I have seen.

Oh YAY! We really missed it during our most recent trip in May! Also missed the TTA or as I still like to refer to it as the Wedway! Can't wait to ride them next time!

yeah i was on this tonight--and the smell of fresh paint was a good sign and the cars were being tested on the track.

TTA on the boring side with new spiel--which is basically quiet the entire time?

I thought when I rode the TTA a few weeks back a sign inside SM said re-launching in late Fall but now it says Winter 2009??

Are the new cars the same seating as the old ones. Only single file or will two people be able to sit together side by side?? DD6 wants to ride but she is barely 40 lbs and I worry that she can't hold herself in all by herself.

Does anyone know??

Same arrangment, but the lap bar will hold her in just fine as they pull down snug on the lap. Anyone who meets the height requirment is safe on the ride.

darn! This is very, very disappointing to me. I had so much hoped that we would get the same (or similar) refurb that the DL version got years ago. If you've ever ridden SM at DL you know what I mean- it literally blows the MK version away. I'm gonna' still hang on to hope until it officially opens.

That would have taken about a year and a half. I think Disney did not want to spend the amount of money it would have taken to redo the entire ride. I read somewhere that they would have to have taken the roof off to replace the entire track. I don't know if that is true or not.
It would have been nice though to have the side by side seating.
