Space Mountain Rehab

When Disney states Space Mountain will be closing April 19th, does this mean Sunday April 19th will be the last day it is open or will it be closed on that Sunday? It would be more logical for it to be the former.

Our first day we can get to the parks will be the 19th so this has some bearing on our plans...

Thanx, Rich

I would guess that it will close on Sunday the 19th when the park closes! If you are there on that day you will be allowed to ride. It sucks for us as we will be there beginning the 24th.

I'll have to keep watching to see what "late 2009" ends up evolving into! We're headed down at the end of October and we didn't get to ride it last trip either!

Unfortunately, I am almost positive that the last day you will be able to ride is the 18th. The refurb starts on the 19th. Sorry!

:welcome: to the DIS, richtowne!

Unfortunately, rehab dates are inclusive. So when Disney says that the Space Mountain rehab will begin on the 19th, it means that the 18th is the last day it will be open.

i have a question about TTA being open before space mountain. since TTA runs through part of space mountain could people be able to see some of the refurbishments being made on space mountain? or does the rehab that TTA is getting make it not go through space mountain anymore?

That's what we're hoping too since we'll be there late August after the TTA re-opens. I know in some years past I saw pics people posted on this board from the TTA during a Space Mountain rehab, so it has been do-able in the past, but I don't know anything about what this year will hold. I can't imagine they'd move the TTA so it no longer goes through Space Mountain , but I guess we'll have to see! I'll be watching to see what DIS'ers say when the TTA first opens!

Just got back from our latest trip. A CM told us they're closing SM down (we all know that) but he said it was going to be a 2+ year rehfurb? I'm guessing he's wrong on that but, if he's right, I'd guess they're completely replacing the ride in some way. I'd heard rumors about that last year but just rumors.

Either way, can't wait to see what's in store...

A few years ago we rode TTS during a Space Mountain rehab and it still went through it. It was very very cool to se the inside of Space Mountain, that is seomthing I'll never forget.

Does anyone know what are the chances of the ride vechicles to be changed? I have long legs and Space Mountain always kills me because of the squeeze:rolleyes:

Perhaps the CM was misunderstood. Could a two year refurbishment take place while the ride is open some of the time? Obviously, the ride mechanism itself could not be refurbished while guests are riding it, but the rest of the attraction could be refurbished while the attraction is part open...could it not?

Either way, it gives us all something to look forward to when it is completed!

woot!!!
