Are the two tracks on space mountain different? I always hear people saying they are ( right is smoother than left) is this true? and if so which is which? I have been on both, and I think that the left seemed more bumpy, or jerky. might just be me though.
Anyone have any input on this? I am taking my daughter who is 11, and I kinda want to start her on the smoother one, if there even is a difference. Thanks

IMHO - The left side is darker, which makes it more exciting. I can see much more of the upcoming track on the right side.
I know many people have disputed the difference - that's why I prefaced it with the My Opinion statement......
You won't always have a choice on which side you go on - if you go in a slow season, only one side will be running anyway.
Either way, I don't think the difference is very great anyways - either side should be fine for an 11 year old...

Well, my family and I agree with you.

On our trip in December we rode Space Mountain around 10 times alternating each side. We feel that the right side is somewhat smoother than the left. The left seems to have more sudden turns and drops.

Would love to see ride with the lights on to know for sure.:D

Both my kids, ds 9 and ds 13 love either side but if given a choice they always choose the left.

Have fun!!

We prefer the right. With all the Democratic primaries coming up, it seems smoother to take the right.

The right side is usually the only one open when we go, we hop on the left side when we can. They are slightly different, but I don't know if that's because I am so used to riding the right, that I "know" what to expect. But, I don't think they are different enough to warrant riding one over the other.

The two tracks names are

Alpha (left) More turns
Otegem (right) More "sudden" drops.

I perfer Otegem. But there both good.:sunny:

I believe the previous poster is referring to the names "alpha" and "omega".

Anyhoo...we found the left side to be more exciting and "jerky". Try the right one for a novice rider.

PS We were there on a very slow day in December, and both sides were open.

Alpha and Omega are mirror images of each other with very slight variations where they cross sides. Neither side has more/higher drops than the other. One side may have a slightly tighter turn before a crossing point but that is about it.

As for one side being more bumpy or jerky it may be just how the ride broke in.

That being said... I've always preferred the right side.

here's another vote for the left (though i'll be voting right in november)...left side seems a bit rougher...might be all in my head but when given the choice we go left...but hey...both sides are great!!!!
