Souveniers I Just Would Not Want To Miss!

I usually buy magnets and the refillable mugs--the mugs are great for work once I get home.

antenna toppers (use them as pencil toppers or I have a "garden" on dowels stuck in florist foam in a flower dish then covered with river stones), pins...only ones that are "special" to that trip, popcorn buckets (we use these for popcorn at home or DDs use them to store their crayons/colored pencils), resort mugs, t-shirts/sweatshirts, usually DDs want a new set of ears (I think we are up to 8 varieties!), and some kind of pen for my purse.

I love this thread! It's interesting to see what people continue to enjoy AFTER coming home :)

DH and I really go for clothing the most...usually 1 sweatshirt a piece and and least 1 or 2 TShirts. I would also go for a nice set of PJs, but can't ever seem to find a set I like at WDW or DL, only find them on the online store :confused3

My DH is also a big fan of the resort mugs...in addition to his own, he has comfiscated both mine and DS's for his hot cocoa use!

My DS(7)s favorite keepsakes are the nighttime light-up spinning toys...I think he has about 5 now, and uses them quite a bit even when at home. He also still loves his light-up "swords".

Finally, this last time in DL we started the pin collecting...I can tell already this will be a dangerous activity! DS really enjoyed pin-trading though, so I think it's here to stay :earsboy:

We are big fan of the Wishes CD... although I did not know it existed until we got home, so I bought it off of eBay.

Another thing we have come home with on our trips and even asked others to pick up for us is the hot chocolate that changes colors (Blue - Cindy; Pink - Sleeping Beauty; Green - Tink). I have read from others on the boards that they did not like the taste. My daugther actually prefers it to regular chocolate and of course loves the different colors... Speaking of which, I should have asked my friend, who is down there now, to pick me up a can. Oh well...

I wish I had purchased the Jello shooter trays.... Not for the purpose of that, but as Ice trays....

My mother in law bought them last year ( and really thought that they were ice trays!! :rotfl: ) She uses them for the kids. They love their Mickey shaped ice......

She bought them at the store in Epcot that is at the International Gateway....

I am going to purchase some this year for our house.... :goodvibes

We will also be purchasing a passport for Epcot... This way my littleone will have the world to bring home ( stamps) :cool1:

I've never seen these. What's a jello shooter tray and what do the Epcot passports look like? Do you have any pictures?
Thanks so much,
Robin

Anybody know more about the hot chocolate that changes color for princesses?

princess:

Thank you

I usually get get a pin that reminds me of the trip....I'm not an avid pin collector, but, I have all my pins on a denim jacket and its full....anything you get to remind you...my hubby is into teeshirts....he gets five or six from his favorite areas...its definately individual.....

I have most of the usual things like cups, magnets, T-shirts, atennna toppers, pens, but last trip I started collecting something I haven't seen mentioned here, yet . . . patches.

We were standing behind a man and lady, one day, waiting to get on the monorail, and I was fascinated by their denim jackets. They were covered with patches from all over the world. I decided to see if I could find any patches at WDW, and lo and behold, I came home wih 10 (a Test Track Mickey head; an Epcot Mickey head; Mickey Mouse Club; Disney Vacation Club; WDW: An American Tradition; each of the four parks; and a little one that says WDW, established 1971).

Since then, I've also picked up patches on bsiness trips to Salt Lake City, UT, and Palm Springs, CA, so this has really turned into a fun collection.

We also LOVE the Wishes CD. I think we bought it at the gift shop outside of Space Mountain, but we saw it everywhere! When my 5 yr old DD can't sleep I put it in and tell her to close her eyes and pretend she's standing in front of the castle on the bridge and picture Wishes going off! Works everytime, she's asleep before the CD is done. We also get a WDW photo album each time for the pictures we take, they hold lots of photos and we never have a problem filling the album. We've also bought the picture frame with the castle on it, and the one with all the princesses on it for a special picture. Also we buy a porcelain ornament at DTD Christmas Store, and have the year written on it for a keepsake. The girls always say, "when did you get that", when we're putting up the tree. :rotfl: Love the idea about mounting the pins in a frame, think I'll try that for a Christmas gift for the DD's . Maybe then hubby won't mind how much we spent on pins the last 2 trips. :rotfl: Be careful this is a highly addictive souvenir, and costly!!! But very fun to look back at, and remember where you got what pin.

We usually get magnets and pins from the resort we are staying at as well as an xmas ornament - they have resort ones with the year on. We also get mugs, pens, pads of paper, popcorn buckets, shirts, ughhh.....the list goes on!

We always buy our souveniers outside of Disney, we look around the parks for what we like and then we head for the irlo bronson Hwy and hit all those stores that have everything for much cheaper! And no one has to know we didn't get them in the park. It's our little secret. :smooth:

Another thing I usually get is stationary. I really enjoy letter writing to my friends and putting it on disney stationary is a lot of fun :)

I got the hot chocolate at the Disney Store at DTD, they also had it at the gift shop at POFQ, where we were staying. Another favorite suvenier of mine is a Tigger that suction cups to the window, he was small enough to put on my rear-view mirror and he turns on a chain, so somtimes I can see him and sometimes I can see him admiring himself in the mirror :cool1: . It makes both my DD and me happy to watch him (especially while listening to our EPCOT cd!)

I always make sure I get a Christmas Ornament each time I go :Pinkbounc :earsgirl:

I bought a bonsai tree in Japan at EPCOT back in '96. I think they shipped it to me. I ended up killing it, but I may try another one this trip!

I love pins !!! You can really go crazy just choosing from the incredible variety available at WDW so I go on a theme, Usually it's a ride or a Park or one that has an original Mickey(my fave) on them.

I also love ornaments!!!I usually buy the Mickey heads. This year we had our names put on them...They are now looking great on my X-mas tree.

I love the knick-knacks like mickey pasta, mickey mints, cookies, pens and keychains.

I try not to buy to many photopass pictures too! But I have to have a picture album or a frame.

But I have to agree, the most use I got out of a souvie is the CD's I have bought (Wishes, Magic in the streets, radio Disney christmas jamsetc.) They just are the best.
