Southwest's schedule extension TOMORROW!

Wow, the prices are not too bad for Phila to MCO but yikes the number of non stop flights have been reduced greatly.

Not sure what was going on with SWA website but that was the most painful transaction I've ever encountered. One minute the website said thru "Aug 10", the next thru "August 28th"... i had to keep refreshing over and over before it finally accepted my reservation. Fares were not as good as I had hoped but we did book non-stops in mid-August, although we had to tweak our vacation plans by a day on each leg. We are now going Friday-Friday rather than Saturday-Saturday. Pixiedust to all that you find the fares you had hoped for!

Agree with other posters - the number of non-stops from Pittsburgh to MCO is down to one, from three right now...and both at horrible times, down at 6:05 AM, return at 7:15 PM. I used late September dates, and can't believe it will change much the next schedule release for our trip starting Oct. 4. So bummed . . .

Number of nonstops to/from Columbus, Ohio was 1 each way. I bought because I have a 17 month old and this will be his first flight so I really NEEDED a nonstop if possible. I was afraid if we waited we would end up with layovers. I'd rather entertain him in Disney than in an airport. :goodvibes

We fly Southwest from Long Island (ISP) and as of June any flights that went to or through Midway Chicago will no longer exist. So if we want to go anywhere from Long Island our choices have been greatly cut. Not sure why since flying to and through Midway flights have always been pretty full. I did email them about it and was told they constantly re-evaluate. Hope so because we love Southwest but if we can't get where we want to go with them we'll have to look elsewhere.

What dates are you looking at? I looked at Sept 8 - 15 and there are 2 each way. Plus AirTran has 3 each way. I don't think PIT could fill more than that, I'm surprised there are 5.

*Using Sept 20-27 (Thursday) I do see only 1 Southwest but there are 3 AirTran. My guess is they are shifting some Southwest flights to AirTran to fill the new flights SW took from AirTran in Atlanta.

It is crazy how they reduced their non-stop flights. Along with leaving ABE. I think I might have to look into other airlines for our September trip

We had at least one non-stop flight to MCO from our home airport. SW totally did away with it. :sad2: Not going until December, but this doesn't look promising.

The dates don't go far enough for us (October), and the last flight of the day in September is 5 PM. DS doesn't get out of school until 4 PM, so we will have to pick him up early to make a 5 PM flight. :headache: The fares are about what I expected, so at least that's a good thing. On the other hand, no telling what October fares will be.

From what I heard, SW is cutting the number of flights from Philadelphia. I know they eliminated PIT-PHL. It's hard to compete when it's another airlines hub (USAirways). Business travelers tend to favor the legacy airline because of elite benefits & international destinations.

I was just kind of looking to maybe sneak a trip in for September but I think I may hold off. Now I am worried about my trip in December. I try to get to Disney early but coming back I usually come back in the late afternoon. I hate late flights in the winter.
I do have FF miles for USairways, I might use them instead of my RR points with SW. I'll wait until the next release, if it does not include my dates I can judge the flight times and decide from there.

What are Southwest big hub airports? I usually fly out of PHL, and there seemed to be a lot of flights. I'm disappointed to hear they are counting back.

BWI is a hub, but they cut back on the non-stop flights from BWI to MCO.

Booked our flight down today. SWA from San Antonio. Like many of you, bummed that there wasn't as many non-stop flights as usual. Got the next best thing-one stop, no plane change. Paid more than I wanted, but got good times.

Have to wait a few weeks to book return flight, since their calendar doesn't go into October yet.

Overall, I'm happy! :)

I'm so glad I saw this post!

Just bought tix for our September trip for less than my budget. We have to fly out a day earlier, but I saved enough to be able to cover that extra night! Yea!

I'm considering myself really lucky right now since our return day is Sept. 28.

:cool1:

This makes me so sad! 1 non-stop on our way down, and 2 on the way back, only 1 of which is in our time frame

BOOOOOOO!
