I would not book SW either, for one simple reason--with their boarding scheme, you and your husband could very well not end up seated together. You can't prebook your seats on SW like you can on most other carriers.

I have flown Southwest many times and I have NEVER had an instance where I was not seated with my travel companion. As long as you leave enough time to check in early and get an 'A' or even a 'B' boarding pass, you will have NO trouble finding two seats together.
I have seen many people complain about the open seating for Southwest. I have found that many either do not understand it or get to the airport WAY too late.
Another tip for Southwest, online check-in.
