Both Southwest and Airtran have non stop flights to MCO and they are the same price right now. We are only going for a long weekend so luggage fees are not an issue. Which one would you pick? Times are pretty much the same but Airtran does have a better return time for us.

Personally, I always choose SWA. However, if there are no big differences, I would choose whichever one works for your schedule. Afterall, they both get you to the same place.

With all the reports of flight changes on Airtran, I wouldn't count on the flight you're seeing right now being the one you end up on. I'd go with whichever airline you're more comfortable with. For me, that would be Southwest because I know that the only reason I'd need to check on my flights after booking is to see if I can get a credit for a future flight plus Southwest flies out of my preferred airport while Airtran is at a much larger airport 30 minutes further away. You need to figure out your own reasons for why one airline is more desirable than the other for you.

Well, if you read my thread a few spots down the page on the boards you'll see the issues I had last night w/ AirTran and it seems that others have had the same problems. I gave up after I got so upset at the process and the problems that I was tearing up and shaking. I went to SW and was done in 5 min. Called w/ a question and was off the phone in 10 min. I was flying from Milwaukee, I'm guessing you are too based on your location, and the SW times and prices were almost the same so it was an easy decision.:thumbsup2

Southwest..Air Tran is known to change flight times at the last minuite!!!!!

Definitely Southwest - they have never changed a non-stop flight on us. Airtran did last year, and we ended up losing 5 hours of Disney time because our connecting flight got delayed. If you're only going for a weekend, stick with Southwest. You can change your flights with Southwest without penalty as well - Airtran charges you for changes.

Shouldn't make too much difference...you might even be able to go one way on Airtran and the other on Southwest. As other posters have said, if the flights aren't soon, Airtran might change your times, Southwest won't. And, if SW does lower the fare, you can grab the credit.
