We flew from BWI to Orlando on Saturday. The gate agent asked if anyone was willing to get to Orlando later than scheduled as the flight was overbooked. We are 2 adults with no real schedule so we volunteered. In exchange we got $300 + the amount we paid for our tickets given to us as a travel voucher. That was a total of $825!!!! We got to Orlando at 6:15 instead of 2:30 but we were OK with that.

I would soooo go for that deal. Even with my kids....although they're teens, so biggie there.

Last August there were people on stand by for our flight and I was praying for the agent to ask if anyone would give up their seats. The next flight to MCO was the afternoon nonstop and it would have gotten us in about 2 hours later than we had planned.

If I knew I wouldn't get in too late, I would've taken them as well. By late I mean after 10 pm at night. Glad you scored a good deal.

Happened to us with Virgin once - took a 6 hour delay (next flight home) and they gave us a free return ticket to anywhere on their flight schedule each, to be used within 18 months - we used it to go to Miami and the Keys!!!!!!! No bad from the UK, saved us at least £600 each
