Southwest is giving 50,000 points again

Just want to be sure this will work. If my dad has 50,000 points from the credit card offer, can I purchase tickets and use his rapid reward points to pay for them? I would log into his account, as I have all the info. Thanks in advance.

You should have no problem doing that.:thumbsup2

I just saw the offer on the southwest site thtee days ago, was approved, and should receive the card soon.

As long as he is aware of it, and you are not commiting fraud.

Why not get your own SWA credit card?

Actually I did get my own. Also got one for my husband and since I fly out to see my dad I asked him to get one too. He hasn't flown in years so I figured that was a good way to get some more points.

I've already got the 50,000 credited to my account. Just now received the card for my husband so we haven't used it yet. My dad just got his as well a couple of days ago so I don't know if he has used it.

So, pretty soon I will have 150,000 points :cool1::cool1::cool1:

+1...just raising my post count.

why??????????? I have seem some moderators are cracking down on these wasted posts and I gotta wonder why the hell are you wanting to raise your post count?? If you have enough to post and PM (which you do) what is the issue:confused3

When do we get our 50,000 points? Is it after the first billing statement? I sure hope not....I got my card about 10 days ago and made my first purchase. I just looked at my statement on the Chase website and it says my due date is April 10, which means that this billing cycle won't close for another month yet. I'm hoping to be buying tickets before that.

Just to clarify, it shows a due date, but there is not a statement generated yet. There is no minimum payment amount or anything.

You should check the southwest rapid rewards account on their site. I just happened to go on to it today even though my new card says my statement isnt until april 14..and the 50,000 points were there ! I was shocked. I booked 3 tickets using those points and then purchase 2 other using cash in a separate transaction. You can call them and they will check the flights you are interested in and let you know if there are lots of seats available so you can be sure all the tickets are on the same flight..that is if you dont have enough points for all of them and need to purchase some also. I am thrilled that i got 5 tickets for $600 total ! Saved me $900 !

Anyone have a current link for the 50,000 point offer? I was just looking today and I can't find it...

Its coming up 50k points for me..... What other rewards are there?? Im would be needing gift cards over the flights. Thanks!

We are in the process of snow-balling our CC debt. We have about $5500 left to go. We won't be taking a vacation until this is paid off! So I'm really wanting to get DH &me a this card w/ 50,000 pts! But since we would have to pay the yearly fee I'm questioning it? We would both need a card in order for our whole family to fly round trip for free. What if we have to both pay the fee for 2 years before we take a vacation? It's still worth it right? Since we couldn't get 4 flights for the 2 fees X 2 years....

I will tell you a coupled of things that I have discovered.

If you have chase cards already, then go ahead and apply. If you don't receive an automatice approval, then pick up the phone and call the chase reconsideration line (just google it). They will see if you can qualify.

For me, I already had 3 chase cards with high limits, so they approved a personal and a business southwest card for me (can you say 100,000 miles please) by moving my other approved credit amounts around. Fine by me, since I don't plan on using that $60,000 worth of credit anyhow.

In addition, I plan on moving 10,000 points over to my southwest rapid rewards account from my Marriott card, and then I will earn the companion pass, which means that I can book travel with my awards for myself and then have a companion travel with me for free (well there are some taxes that have to be paid). And that benefit will last until Dec 31st, 2013. Seriously! That is a huge score! Hubby currently has a personal with the 50,000 miles and I am trying to get him to get a business account and do the same thing. Then the whole family can travel for free for a few trips, and half price for a few more. I can put up with a few seat grabbing issues.

And I used the above links to apply and they worked like a charm. The business application is at the bottom of the page.

Good Luck!

You wouldnt need to pay for the 2nd year, if you dont want to. The points don't expire (i.e. you dont have to have a current CC to redem the flight pts). If you pay the 2nd year fee of $69 you do get 3K more points, but you can cancel before then and not have to pay the fee.

I got my SW Chase card last year and am loving it!! How were you able to get a business card? Is there certain criteria that has to be met?

I found it the link for the business card but wondering if they are very picky about the business you have.
