Southwest is giving 50,000 points again

Have you gotten the companion pass by combining the 2 enrollment bonus and the marriott point transfer? When I was reading the rule about companion pass, I though that enrollment bonus does not count toward qualifying points of 110,000 for the companion pass? thanks

I haven't gotten the companion pass yet, but plan to, and know of other people that have. The rules have said that for years, but the reality is that it has worked for years. Worth a try:) If not, then I have 100,000 miles to spend.

They did not seem to be very picky about my business. I just explained that I was an independent contractor, discussed my income record (I have none, because I have been salaried and am just starting back again after a year off) and then they moved over some of my other credit to the business card. Easy peasy. But we have good household income, excellent credit and pay our cards off every month.

Good Luck Everyone.

Is it trully only given to first time card holders or is there a time lapse where you might be eligible again?

not a first time cardholder- just got the 50k points in my account.....:cool1::cool1::cool1:

Companion Pass Qualifying Points are earned from revenue flights, points issued on Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards Credit Cards, and points earned from Rapid Rewards Partners. Purchased points and points earned from program enrollment, Tier bonuses, flight bonuses, and Partner bonuses do not count toward Companion Pass status.

So what you are saying is that this rule is often overlooked? So it is possible that they would consider the enrollment points towards the companion pass???

Also I'm confused if you have 2 cards, one business and one personal, how is it looked at as 110,000 will they combine the points??? So if I have a card & DH has a card would this also work or does it have to be in one name???? If anyone can chime in & explain I'd appreciate it! I'm so confused! Also my sister has a business so I'd like to be able to explain how it could benefit her as well.

Thanks!

Okay I just found this site that confirms what QueenDoOver has said. DH & I cannot combine points but can use 50,000 toward CP. Also my sister can open 2 cards one personal & one business to get 100,000 but she may have to call a few times & put up a fight for all the bonus points.......

now I'm learning something new.....what is a companion pass?

I just opened an account for myself & was instantly approved! Then DH opened one & his income is almost double mine & his is being reviewed & we will be notified in 10 days...I hope that they will allow us to both have a separate account!!!

Has anyone else had this happen???

When are the points posted to your account? DH signed up, with the 50k bonus points, we've already made a couple purchases on the card and I've already paid a couple purchases off and still no points. We have not had it long enough to get a bill yet, so I was wondering if they won't get posted until the statement comes through. I have a flight I want to book.

That was my experience. Right after the bill closing date, the 50,000 points showed up in my Rapid Rewards Account! :thumbsup2

Hi! Thanks for posting this thread.

I applied through the link provided through this thread and was approved.

But when I look at the southwest.com website, I do not see this offer available. How can I know if I got the 50,000 points or the 25,000?

Thanks!!

I applied this weekend and got the 'we will get back to you message', so I called the reconsideration number so see the status. In the past I have always been approved on the spot for credit cards.

I was a stay at home mom and recently got a part-time job while DD is in school, and I could only list that income due to the new credit card income reporting regulations. (No more household income, only personal income) I have stellar credit and a Disney Visa, previously had different Chase cards and a car loan though them. This morning I called the reconsideration line at Chase to see the status and was told I was declined due to low income and the new income reporting guidelines! :headache:

So, the person I spoke to suggested that since my Disney Visa has a high limit, we could away take some of the available credit from that card and they aprroved the Southwest card with that amount as a credit limit.

Hope this helps anyone if you get a decline and you are in a similar situation!

Everytime in the past I have applied for a bonus though a link (that was a better offer than on the home web page), I never had a problem getting the correct bonus. I read through tons of posts on this offer (on DIS and Slickdeals) and no one has reported issuses as long as you go through the link.

now I'm learning something new.....what is a companion pass?

:confused3 I'd like to know to. I just applied at got approved. My husband has a business, so I'm wondering what advantage we'd get by him applying other than another 50,000 miles.

If you open both a personal and a business account under the same name, with this promo you will get a total of 100,000 points....In order to get a companion pass you need to earn an additional 10,000 for a total of 110,000 points. A companion pass allows you to bring a companion with you on your flights for FREE! I don't have one but please correct me if I'm wrong, but If I'm understanding this correctly, even if you fly for free yourself using points you can still bring a companion for free with this program!

Check this site out it explains it better!

How much do you have to spend on the card to earn 10,000 points? I'm wondering if I can do this in time for our trip.

Essentially you would have to spend $10,000 because for most purchases you get 1 mile for every $1 you spend

Earn 2 points per $1 spent on Southwest and Rapid Rewards Hotel and Car Partner purchases.
Earn 1 point per $1 spent on all other purchases

As for when points post to your account, we received ours less than 2 weeks after we got the card. I just booked our trip this morning :)

Can you share the reconsideration phone number? I think I need to call them. :)
