Southwest just had a Ding for $59 one way for all the Chicago Flyers to Orlando, FL. Aug 1 thru Sept 30. This is great deal. This will even save you more if you are going at the time of the dining plan like we are. I just received a $339 credit for my flight on the way there. Now I need to wait patiently for another Ding for my flight on the way back. The Ding is until 3:00 pm Central time. Sign up for the Ding if you have not already.

I have a question about this because I just saw that Ding. We received a credit earlier this week because we found the internet special to be cheaper than a Ding we got over a week ago. Now we saw that this Ding is $10 cheaper than the internet special we got earlier this week. We can only use it on our return flight, but hey, an extra $20 is an extrra $20. How do you apply a Ding fare to your already existing reservation?

I know how to do it with the internet specials, but can't figure it out with Ding. If I access the travel center to change my existing reservation, the only prices it lists are the one I currently have and others. I don't see an option to do a Ding fare. If I go through the Ding link, I don't see where I can access the travel center. Any help would be appreciated!

Yes! I just changed our flight tix and saved $144!! The only thing that changed with our original flight plans is that we are now leaving a few hours later in the day. We're heading out at 6:15pm now, so it looks like we'll either head to MK for the morning/afternoon or to DTD.

I wonder if the prices will go down even more!!!???? So far I've been lucky that the great DING rates are coming up while I'm at work.

Mary - how did you get yours changed? I was trying to do it but it kept prompting me for payment...well our tix are already paid, we just want to adjust the price to save money.

I have a question about the DING! fares. I see that they have afre of $33 oneway from Nashville to Orlando. That's awesome. Travel dates are between August and Sept. My question is this: We're not going until January, what are the chances these fares will come up again for Jan/Feb? I was just wondering, because we would definitely fly for that price. You can't beat it!!!! Otherwise we would drive, which isn't a ton of fun with three kids under 7. Thanks.

It's difficult to say if these fares will be the same by the time you go. Last year we flew outof Chicago for $39 each way per person (total, taxes included) and we haven't seen that offered again. There's always a possibility, but don't hold your breath for it. You can always book when you find a good deal, and then get a credit if you find an even better deal through Ding.

I think I read somewhere here on the DIS that if you are getting a cheaper rate that is posted on the SW website, you can just adjust it without canceling everything. But if you are trying to get a new DING rate, you have to cancel everything first.

This is how I changed an original DING rate to a new DING rate:

You have to first go in and cancel your original reservations. Then it will tell you that you have $xxxx nonrefundable monies to be put in your account for later use. It also gave me $55 of it to either be credited back to my credit card, or to put in my account. I opted to get in back on my cc.

Once you cancel, then you have the money in your account. Then you go ahead and book your new flight (from the recommendation of someone here on DIS, I had a second screen with my new flight already opened and waiting...don't want to waste too much time just in case the flights get booked quickly). You will then get to the screen that asks for your payment. There is a button to click that says something like, "SW account"...or something like that...can't remember exactly, but you'll find it. You will still need to fill in the info with your billing name, address, and phone number.

Hope this is clear. It was a little bit confusing for me, but if I can figure it out, anyone can...lol. And I was SO NERVOUS between the time I cancelled my original flight until I got confirmation on my new flight. I thought for sure that with my luck, the new flight would be all booked up before I hit the proper buttons!!

I'm hoping for an even lower rate before our trip! :)

Ah ok that makes sense....not worth the hassle for just a $20 savings. Thanks though...it's good to know for future use!

I made our SW reservations on Friday around 5 o'clock with a great price of $49 each way for our trip Sept 14-19. I was on the computer Saturday and got a DING notice. When I checked on it, the fares were $39 to Orlando and $31 back to Nashville. I couldn't believe it. I called them right away and since it had been within 24 hours since I had made the reservations, the guy said I could cancel the old one and make new one before the special ended at 3 o'clock. That's amazing. I got round tirp fares from Nashville to Orlando-$81.60-ROUNDTRIP!!!. WOW!!!!! I also got ASMU for $59 per night. This trip is meant to be. I am so excited. :woohoo:

Sorry, don't know why this posted twice.

hello neighbor,

I flew from Nashville last Jan/Feb to MCO and it was $24 each way. The week before that ding, it was $37... I think that the times when fewer people travel you will see those rates... I got the $33 rate for my Sept trip! I was so excited...

Good luck with your dings!

I also just wanted to add. ALWAYS book your trip in one way segments. That makes cancelling and rebooking much easier. If it is just a sale fare you can go through the travel center link off southwest dot com, and then change your itenerary that way. If it is a ding, you need to call to cancel, then rebook online through the DING! link. It's really simple to cancel and rebook & totally worth the money, IMO. We go to Disney a lot and the only way to go is to get the awesome dings & so if we have a travel credit that is fine with us, because it will get used. We also share our travel credit with our friends. So, if they are travelling first, they will "buy" our credits and vice versa.
