Southerns - door mold question

We're experiencing a new thing this summer - door mold! I just spent yesterday scrubbing it off. Blech. I'm guessing it comes from the heat, humidity and frequent rain storms? Is there any cure? My neighbors don't get it, but the wife is home all day so she leaves the doors open. I think mine comes from the doors being shut and all the yuckiness of the humidity being trapped in there.

You might could get something at Lowe's to help prevent it. We haven't had a problem with mold. It's been a wet, humid summer though. Mold loves wet and humidity.

I live on the ocean and have terrible times with humidity. When I get up in the morning my hallway literally is wet with humiidity. We had to sand and wax the front door because it is swollen and sticking. We have had to spray down parts of the bathroom walls with a diluted bleach spray twice to get rid of the mold in there. And my new thing, mold around the molding (lol) on my fridge door. It actually is spreading all over from there if I don't catch it. These aren't green mold but black spots. I used to have a problem with another house with siding that got the green mold and I used diluted bleach in a spray bottle on this also. Just do a test spot if you are worried about hurting the door. I am much happier when it rains because then the humidity is gone.

UGH! We have had this problem on our entire front porch!!! Never had it before. My DH just power washed the front porch, putting a little clorox in the water.....worked like a charm!
