South Beach Dieters......... Unite

marydmjj, welcome back. It is a wonderful way of eating and it does take you sticking to it. Only gaining 4 pounds is not bad. However, we are here to help and motivate you in any way that we can. Good luck starting over.

Welcome back to the Beach Mary!

You can do it and we will be here to give you support. Gaining back 4 pounds isn't all that bad and you'll probably have that gone in your first week on Phase 1.

Have a great SBD weekend guys!

I've just read about 30 pages worth of this thread (it's Saturday and I had a few moments! :)) But you guys should be SOOOO proud of yourselves...seeing the transformation of many of you since January is soooo inspiring!!!

I had lost 55 pounds last year and took off in February to adjust to a relocation (dh has been working in AL since then and we've been trying to sell our house! AAAGH!) Lot's of stress led to putting back 10 or so pounds...I won't even look...but my husband who had lost down to 188 and is now 224 is also doing South Beach with me...we are on day 7 of Phase 1...and hoping to make it through day 14 then adding some berries and whole grains gradually.

My biggest problem I think is low blood sugar...I drink loads of water a day and am eating enough....it's just a shock to my system I guess...have any of you experienced this? For me, it's standing up and the room starts spinning and my vision turns dark....meaning I can't see for a few seconds. Also, when I wake up in the morning it's like pulling a bulldozer out of bed...after about 20 minutes of getting around I feel much better. Any tricks to help this...or does it get better as your body adjusts to not receiving so much sugar?

My husband and I hope to lose 60 pounds between the two of us by our next vacation at the end of January...I was supposed to walk the marathon but the timing (we should be moving into ournew house around that time) and lack of room discounts makes us plan for later in the month...but I should be able to manage 12-16 miles a week of walking and once we move I should be up to 20 miles.

Loved all your posts and thank you for keeping in touch so us newbie SBD's can be inspired by your experiences!

Tara

Welcome Tara. My first few days were a little dizzying. But my body soon adjusted and is now doing wonderfully. It is a great plan to be on. Now, I think I'm on the hardest part and that is maintaining my weight loss. However, the weight does come off consistently and the results are great. I hope you and your husband do a great job on the beach. Come back and let us know how it is going, if you have any questions, concerns or just want to vent:wave2:

Dh and I have a goal of 60 pounds by 1/28...after our first week of SBD...we're 18 pounds closer!!! :) He lost 8 pounds and I lost 10 pounds! :) On to week two of induction....

I need to go back and read the posts more closely...but after such a big weight loss this first week do you experience many plateau weeks? I just want to prepare myself because this week was too good! I'm expecting 1-2 pounds a week from here on out...anything more would be a plus! :)

Thanks!
Tara

Tara, how wonderful for you two:bounce: :bounce: I experienced some plateau's. They are frustrating!!!!!! However, each persons body is different. How long you stay on a plateau is up to you. Don't go in looking for one though, it may not come and you too may lose weight steadily (although slowly) your entire time.

Well, I'm back from the FW Festival at Epcot. The beginning of Phase II started the day I got to WDW. We always go to FW Festival so I was excited to have a little more flexibility. I was a little worried about being able to eat well but I needn't have been.

We did FW twice, and ate in restaurants for the rest of our meals. For the dinner-in-a-restaurant days I ate Phase I meals until dinner then I could enjoy a little (just one little) something from the buffet for dessert or a side. During FW Festival DH and I split the entrees I could eat and there were a TON of things I could eat. Anything with carbs I spaced out over the two days so that I could enjoy a little of everything I wanted to try. It worked out well and I got stuffed on all the good food.

The good news is that with all the walking I still managed to lose some weight while on vacation for the week. I even squeezed in some outlet shopping for some new, smaller clothes. Gotta love Old Navy outlet prices!

WTG!!!! Welcome back. I'm glad to see that it was doable for you and you still was able to stay on track:wave2:

maleficent1959 Congratulation on you sucessful trip to WDW. I went in September and found I could eat OK as well. I did mainly counter service and still had a good variety.

Over the weekend I gained only 1 lb. Not bad considering all the candy and sweets around the house. One holiday down 3 more before the end of the year. I am not going to allow one pound to get me down. I am still down 4 lb over last Monday. I am not going to get to worried until I have a week over week gain. It will hopefully be gone by the end of the week and then some.

Let's say it all together:

I WILL NOT EAT CANDY...I WILL NOT EAT CANDY...I WILL NOT EAT CANDY...

It's 2:00pm and I haven't touched it yet. The hardest part of the day is still to come - after school 'til bed.

Stay away from the candy. I'm lucky, I have none inthe house!!:teeth:

I have been offline and off program for months now. I am a MESS. We have had some severe stress going on in the family and I fell off of my Beach. Ugh.
I am up 10lbs from before. So now I am looking to lose 20 lbs. I could just cry. I need to get back on track. So here I am Day 3 of Phase 1 for the 3rd time. I need to do this. I want to look good for my cruise in January. I want at least half this weight off by then.
Ladies, please take me back and HELP ME!!!!

I'm new to this approach...but I'll be right here with you! We are taking a trip in January and I want the bulk of my remaining weight off....anywhere from 30-40 pounds. You've done this before so you know you CAN! Just stay strong for that first week weigh in and let that carry you through the second week. I'm on my 2nd week and have 4 days to weigh in...hoping I can stay the course before I pounce on some strawberries! :) I just need 2-3 but not having them is hard!

For all the SBDs in mid-stream, the end, or beginning...please share any tips....I'm looking forward to broadening my food choices and would love some creative recipes to keep it fresh. Keep up the great work...only three more holidays to go before this year ends...let's kick it in the hiney by feeling really finey! :)

Tara

Thanks Tara. I needed the boost of encouragement. I will keep going until Saturday's weigh in. I hope to be down at least 2 lbs.
I am going to try to up my water intake,as I am noticing that I don't drink as much water as I did. And I am planning out my meals for the next week. That really helps me stay OP.

Thanks!:wave2:

hello all. Just checking in. I'm still at goal. Actually I'm down to 128, which brings me to 55 pounds lost. I eat pretty much the same as I did before, except if I want a treat or something out of the ordinary, I have it. How wonderful is all of this!!

Tara, look on the web for good receipes, there are a lot out there. Also have you seen the receipe board here on wish? Good low carb receipes there. I keep cream cheese and heavy whipping cream on hand for desserts. I whip up the cream cheese, mix in some davinci syrup (I prefer vanilla) and some splenda. I then eat them with tortillas (I love the vanilla) put some whipped cream on it and wow. I also am learning how to make my own ice cream. Make wraps, grilled chicken and top it with some light cheese and tomatoes eat with sour cream if you like. There is so much out there.

Great going everyone:wave2:

Melissa, you can do this. I know it is really hard to control emotional eating. Just go 1 day at a time. You are almost to Saturday and I think you will have great results.

I've been off SBD for a few months as well and just started up again (3 days ago). I'm finding that it is easier to get back on track this time around. I'm looking forward to my weigh-in.

Thanks Mary. It does seem easier. I mean, I do know the "rules" so its not like the first time trying to remember what not to eat. Even when I was off program, I knew each time I cheated. It was just too stressful to try to worry about it at that time. But I am happy to say I am on track.
Congrats on staying away from the candy! Way to go. I am glad to have others here who are just starting up again too. It really helps.
And seeing how well everyone else has done is just amazing!!
Saturday is almost here. I can do it.

Yeah! No CANDY! ya know I'm not even tempted....we have about 150 pieces of all the good stuff...(threw out all the junkie stuff) and the kids get 4 pieces a day....and I'm not even phased by it! I think this induction phase really stops your cravings...granted the first week was tough but now I'm okay...well, I have cheated some...because I started TOM on Monday I had to have chocolate and so each day I allow myself 10 semi-sweet chocolate chips...it's just the touch to satisfy me and it's under 2 grams of fat....I had some last week, too and it didn't stop the weight loss. So I may just let that be my exception on the way to goal.

And today I squeezed into some tight 14 jeans that my PM buddy sent me....my hip bones feel squeezed (they're those low rider types that I could never see buying but make me look much smaller than I am) but it feels great to be back on plan....I'm stopping no matter what my weight is when these puppies are loose and I can fit into my size 10/12 inspiration jeans hanging in my closet! :) So, maybe don't rely on the number as much as finding a piece of clothing you look at and say you'd like to fit into. Keep up the plan and thanks for the recipe ideas...on the tortillas do you use whole wheat? low-carb? I've been making lots of fajita salads lately...they're yummy!

Thanks!
Tara
