Oh! And I almost forgot to mention the results of my own weigh-in, which are finally moving along in the right direction again! I had been a bit miffed with my scale for a number of weeks, as I had actually put back on several pounds -- from where, I have no real idea, but I have to cast a cold eye on the couscous I ate just before this all started. First I got horrible stomach pains, then the numbers started to slip upwards. I'm thinking that even though I had been eating other good carbs, such as old-fashioned oatmeal, high-fiber cereal, and flatbread, the couscous simply were too high-carb for my body to handle, and the weight gained was more water weight than anything else.
Anyway, as of this morning, I'm at close to an all-year low, and I've lost two pounds in the last two weeks! I'm less than half a pound from my next clippie, which is just as well, since I promised my son he could be present when I change my clippie.
I have a question -- does anyone find that chewing sugarless gum affects their weight loss at all? I ask because I've never been a gum chewer, but as part of my push to lose the new pounds and more, I cut out dark chocolate, which I had been eating daily (not in big amounts, but still). I had some Eclipse gum after meals as a treat, and I was shocked to see the carbs on the nutritional information, although I calmed down when I realized they were all from sugar alcohols. But I don't know if you can totally disregard the sugar alcohols, and so I turn to the expertise of my fellow Beachers. Any input?
Thanks!
