South Beach Dieters......... Unite

I flipped through much of this giant thread and picked up some great advice and recipes along the way- thank you!

I'm wrapping up Day 4 of Phase 1 and was doing good until today when I caved just a teensy bit =) The weekends evidently are hard for me as we often are out and about and grab fast food. I did well until tonight when I had a bean burrito (bad tortilla! bad bad!) and a handful of semi sweet chocolate chips. However, I have not touched a Dr Pepper in 4 days which is nothing short of a MIRACLE! I was downing 3-5 of those a day!!!!!!!

I seemed to drop a few pounds in the first few days, we'll see if my cheats tonight slow things down for my weigh-in tomorrow morning. I need to drop anywhere from 40-50 pounds.
 
welcome Aimeedyan! Glad to have you join us. Most of us have found that those cheats can slow us down. THe best thing to do is call it a day, move on, and then remember that tomorrow is a new day!! I started my new eating habits today. So far so good, but then again I've only had one meal. The dining hall offers hard boiled eggs and omletes cooked to order (you can pick the ingredients you want in it) so I have a feeling I'll be eating those two options for breakfast during phase one! I'll be sure to keep checking in a letting you guys know how I'm doing! ::yes::
 
Just started SBD on Monday. So far so good. I didn't buy the book since I wasn't sure I would read it through. I did go to Prevention.com to get the does and don't food list. I have a friend at work to help me also, she completed it a year ago or so. I was disappointed to not be able to find the recipe book at the library. Does anyone have a site for recipes in Phase I? I did start browsing here and round a cookie recipe for Phase II. I read about a crustless pizza...that sounds good.

I have 18-20 pounds I need to lose. This is pushing it. I woul be happy with even 15. I am determined this time to not go off track from eating right. I lost a lot of weight before my DDs were born and kept it off for a year before becoming pregnant...so I know it is in me. I exercise 2-3 times a week right now. With DH and I on opposite shifts and me covering all the evening running it is tough to fit it in, especially when I have early work hours.

I won't weigh in till Monday...that will be my one week mark. I'll let you know how it goes.

Good luck to you! I'm trying to lose ~ the same amount, and I started a week and a half ago. I did Phase I before Christmas, but dropped it all together during the holidays and our trip to WDW the first week of Jan.
I couldn't give up the rice krispie Mickey head with the ears dipped in chocolate!! ;)

I am on day 4 and all is well so far. I have no cravings for anything. Right now I make myself eat. Amazing how much 'extra' food I was eating.
 
Hello believe and lilosstitch! Welcome. I didn't do any of the SBD receipes but used the internet as more of a resourse. Try it, and you will find lots of information!

The greatest thing about phase 1 is how it does take away your appetitie. It is amazing and a wonderful feeling. Plus the weight you drop isn't so bad either!
 
Started to not feel well last night. Thought I had done well getting past week one without feeling bad.

Good news is at the end of week 1 I am done just over 4lbs. :banana: 11-16lbs more to go.

It's quiet around here. I just stopped in to see how everyone was doing. I celebrated by 2 year anniversary on the 25th! How good it feels. :thumbsup2 I have never had more pride in myself than I do now, simply becasue I know how much work it takes to make this plan work.

I've been on it a year now and catch myself once in a while saying "this won't hurt" or "I can have a little of that" ...... I have to change that mindset so I don't take a backward slide - overall I think I'm doing ok......all my new smaller size clothes still fit nicely :) They will be my barometer that's for sure if things start getting out of control........there's no way after all this work I want to ever go back to where I was !
 
Well my sister and I are on modified SB. We are having our own Biggest Loser edition family style!
 
Sandy, wtg. I know what you mean. I sure don't want to go back either. I love these size 2 clothes that I wear and I ain't going back!

Week 2 and down another pound. I had hoped for more. I am going to cut the nuts for a week and see if it goes any better. 6lbs gain so far....9-14 more to go.
 
believe, I know you are not doing Atkins, but in his book, he says that if you eat to many nuts, it can/will stall. Wtg on what you've lost so far. Seems like you're almost there!!!
 
I cut nuts out and a lot of the cheese this week to see if I can get back to losing better. This is week 3, but I haven't really added back any carbs yet....really no desire yet. Maybe next week.

I haven't cheated and in the past 3 wks I have baked the following:
Lasagna
Choc Chip Cookies (several times)
Pumpkin Bread
Brownies
Garlic Cheese Bread
Pancakes
Homemade Donuts
Cinnamon Rolls

If only I could get my family to eat better. DH is not into veggies or fruits. DD1 isn't a meat eater. DD2 is more like me. Makes this difficult to be for life but that is my plan.
 
Believe,hang in there. I will consider my self lucky in that my family loves the way I eat. My daughter will go in a restaurant and ask for a salad and some meat!! However in the beginning, it wasn't like that! If you are ding it for life, it will get better.
 
This weekend went well...got 2 hours in at the gym. Then made low fat chili for Sunday and some bean soup.

I am down almost 9lbs...about 8.5 or 8.75. Down 1 inch in the waist.

Finally added in a bit of other carbs, strawberries. Taste so good. Passed on the brownies and lemon cake I made this weekend.

I hope things get better. DH tries to support me, but it is hard at times to buy things separately or to make myself something and have to eat all of it myself. It would be nice to share.
 
Third Page!!!!!!!! I don't think I've ever seen that happen before. How is everyone doing?? I know it's only the second month of the year, but have we fallen off the wagon already???? I hope not. Check in and let us know how you are!!!!
 
Things around here are going OK at best. I relost about 1/2 the weight I gained over Thanksgiving and Christmas. Since then, I've been bouncing up up and down through the same 2lbs. With my current schedule it's not practical for me to go back to phase 1 for 2 weeks (I have a weekly dinner at the church I need to attend that I have no control over the menu). I am trying today to do more phase 1 days. I still have about 40-50 lbs to lose to get down where I want to be. If I can get my sweet tooth back under control and get the scale moving back down it would be great. For breakfast today I had Low Carb low fat Vanilla Yogert and Canadian Breakfast. I am getting ready to go out for lunch. I will probably to out to golden corral for a salad and chicken, pot roast and vegetables with sugar free Jello. Not sure what I'm having for supper. Hope everything is going better for everyone else. My rest and readjustment period has gone on about long enough and It's time to move on to phase 2 of weight loss.
