South Beach Dieters......... Unite

Welcome Angela! The Beach is a great spot to be. I just got my butt back here after a little hiatus that packed some pounds back on me. I am currently on Day 11 of Phase 1- and with NO CHEATING! A first for me. Just 3 days to go until I can have a glass of wine or some fruit. I have family coming over this weekend. They are on the Beach too so I am planning a SBD friendly menu. Should be fun. I have gotten some great recipes by going over old cookbooks and seeing what recipes are already legal or how I can make them so.
Best to you and everyone else. Have a great day!

The kids are battling the stomach flu, which has been tough. I have been trying hard to stick to Phase 1, but I think I ventured into what I refer to as Phase 1 1/2 yesterday! :sad1: We always go to dmil for lunch on Sunday. Well, with the kids throwing up, etc, I told my husband to tell her we were staying away! So what does she do? Call on Sunday morning saying he can come PICK UP OUR MEAL, she will have it ready at 12:30. She has a sweet heart but it is not like we are invalids... Anyway, one of the things she sent was salmon baked with rice. I had a 1/2 cup of rice(it has a lot of veggies and sliced almonds and stuff and is baked and is great). And my ricotta for dessert!!!! :flower: Back on track this morning. These Sunday dinners are hard for me with South Beach. Mil is german and ALWAYS cooks potatoes. I just don't eat them, but I am making lifestyle changes, so that helps when I look at it that way.

calena, I hope the kids feel better! It really seems to be going around.

Hi guys! my name is meghan, I'm 19. I went off to college last year and found out what people ment by the "freshman 15" :scared1: . I was always an athlete in high school so the weight gain/loss of my athletcism has been really hard for me. I'm finally ready to get off this extra weight and I think SBD is for me! I was wondering if you guys had some easy meal ideas. I eat at the dining hall for lunch and dinner and I'm confident that I'll be able to eat well there, but i was wondering if you guys had any ideas for breakfast foods that are easy to make in a dorm room (I have a microwave). I usually eat cereal obviously i won't be able to do that in phase 1. Any ideas or tips would be great! Thank you guys, and I'm sure I'll be around here often looking for encouragement!! :flower:

I made it past my first week! :cool1:

I cheated a bit, :scared: but I managed to take off 6 pounds. :worship:

I think I'm going to stick with Phase 1 for an extra week.

I'm surprised by the number of good meals I can eat. Now, if just get managed to work out each day.

I'm back, too! It's been over a year and a half since I first did the SBD (and was successful!! :cool1: ), but now I am back at the exact weight that prompted me to start the last time. :scared: I've been following SBD faithfully for 7 days as of today - but tonight I cheated!

So...here I am looking for support and hoping to lose 20 pounds in total! THanks for letting me join in! :goodvibes

Welcome and Welcome Back. I think a lot of us found that SB is the way to go and we need to make it that "lifestyle" commitment. Look how awesome Sheree had done. Myself, I am at Day 12 of Phase 1- still without cheating (unreal for me, I am so amazed-Lord, knows I have wanted to) and I have been doing my Pilates faithfully. I actually have a 2 pack now, just need the other 4. :rotfl: I finally have more energy, glad that kicked in. Have no idea what I have lost until DH gives me my scale back on Friday (my punishment for obsessing and weighing constantly). I feel thinner and I can't wait to see if I made progress.
As far as easy breakfasts, the new Quick and Easy SBD cookbook has an almond smoothie you can make. If you have a frig and a blender, that would be an easy one. Throw it together and off you go. It sounds yummy! I would think you could make up your own with SBD legal foods, just avoid adding fruit until Phase 2. Natural Peanut Butter would be good in one, I do that for my DH.

Disneyjunkie, WTG!!!!!!!!! The first two weeks is always the hardest, and then if you can maintain control, it get easier from there.

Cinderellafifi, welcome. I say there are room for cheats, but the less you do, the more you will lose. Hang in there, ad we are there for you.

Melissa, doesn't it feel good to be away from that dang scale???? I want to throw mine in the trash sometimes, so the mere fact that sometimes it just won't say what I want it to keeps me off the darned thing!!! Keep up the good work. The fact that you feel slimmer is a good indication that you are doing great!

Hi all and welcome to those who are new. Yes, I am back on the beach, too. I lost all of my weight so easily the first time...put some back on over the holidays, etc. So, back to Phase 1 for me. I am only in Day 3, but so far so good....no cheats and no desire to cheat!

We CAN do this!

Well, I have great news everyone! I got may bloodwork and stuff back and it was all normal. my cholesterol levels are lower than they were before I started eating this way!!!! Before I went on the plan she wanted to put me on meds! Not any more. This is a plan that really works for me, and I'm going to stick to it.

Whoo Hoo Sheree!!! So happy all looks good. I know I feel better on the Beach, I think this time I am a lifetime convert. The cravings are gone except for my red wine ( I do miss my Friday evening glass, winding down from a hard week) and I still miss chocolate, but not crazily. I am so proud I haven't cheated and tomorrow is my last day on Phase 1. I know I can make it one more day. I intend to go to Phase 1 1/2 for most days, slowly adding fruit and whole grains ( once a day only). I may have a glass of wine to celebrate but that's it. I am feeling great. Can't wait to see Friday's weigh in.
Best to everyone on the Beach. I'll check in tomorrow.

YESSSSS! I did it! I am finished with Phase 1 and I did not cheat. Finally, I did it. Best part, as of this morning, I am down 9lbs total!!! Whoo Hooo!!! I am so happy. Now that I have a choice of having whole grains or fruit, it takes the pressure off. Nice to know I can have a meal replacement bar now, if I want or am busy running around. My goal is to add more exercise and more water, I still need to do better there. I am sooooo excited. So glad its over, hardest 2 weeks of my life.

Hi all.
Haven had a chance to post recently so Happy New Years. It good to see so many new people and so many people doing so well.

I made it to the Petra concert in North Carolina for New Years Eve. Definately got a work out there. During some of the faster numbers I was dancing and jumping up and down. I didn't get back to the hotel until 3:30am New Years Day. We were up early the next morning to go to church. Greg X Volz, the former lead singer of Petra was doing a solo concert at the services. We got up about 8:00. After church, ate lunch and headed the 9 hours back home.

As far as how I did over the Holidays, I ended up almost 10lbs although at this point that's down to about 7lbs up. I'm back teaching and getting into a normal routine so hopefully I can get my eating back into phase 2.

Melissa, :cool1: :cool1: Keep up the good work!! Go slowly on the grains and fruit, or your progress will be slowed considerably!

 everyone!

I don't know if you like eggs or not, but if you do, if you mix up an egg in a microwave bowl, you nuke it for ~1 minute, voila, modified scrambled eggs. I like to add a little low fat shredded cheese and salsa, but that's just me :)
You could also cook some turkey bacon in your microwave. Put the bacon on a microwave safe plate between some paper towels. You'd have to play with the time to figure out how long it takes your microwave, but it is pretty tasty. My daughter likes turkey bacon more than regular bacon, because "it doesn't have that white stuff on it" :rotfl:

Good luck!

I'm going to go gradual with the grains and the fruit. I did have my glass of wine I have soooo been looking forward to. It tasted yummy but made me sick afterwards. Guess my body's way of saying, we don't want that stuff in here. :rotfl: Since that was really the big cheat I was missing, don't see any roadblocks ahead for me now. Should be able to lose this last 7 with no problems, and maybe a few more to boot!
Have a great weekend everyone!

Hey there, South Beachers, and Happy New Year!!

(Okay, the New Year is pretty well underway already, but it's been a busy time!)

I'm back and ready to recommit myself! I had been a happy Beacher but let daily life gradually muddy up my focus on healthy eating, and in fact completely went on "diet vacation" between Thanksgiving and Christmas and lived without any rules until the holidays were over. As it turns out, ice cream still tastes good, and what I already knew about myself remains true -- if there's a sweet treat around, I'm going to eat it until it's gone, regardless of quantity.

So, here I am, about 10 pounds up from my lowest point, and ready to melt it all away until I reach my fabulous self underneath it all!

I started Phase 1 again this week, and want to give it my all -- I hope I have the same exciting results as the last time around, and this time I want to take it all the way!

I honestly have no idea of what my goal is -- I suppose I'll know it when I see it -- but I'm hazarding a guess that in about 25 pounds you're going to be looking at a very very happy thotfulspot indeed. (I'm 5'4" and just about 160 at present.)

So, I'm glad to be back, and looking forward to meeting up again with familiar 'faces' and getting to know new ones!! I hope you'll forgive me for not reading all the pages I've missed -- this thread has been hopping!

I hope that 2006 is an incredible year for us all!!

:sunny:
