South Beach Dieters......... Unite

Jeremy, hang in there. I think if you have the chance, throw in some exercise, it can work wonders and get off a plateau. I'm hoping things work out for you!

Well I down about a lb since I last checked in. I know it's not a lot but every bit helps.

How is everyone else doing. Things are real quiet on this thread recently.

That's what I've noticed too. I guess we are going thru a low period around here!!!

I've went back to my nutritionist diet, but incorporated some SBD knowledge. I am staying way from white flour and candy/desserts. I am down 11 lbs. Seems like it is taking forever, but with exercise (weight training) I know it is the best way to lose it. I hope to have the remaining 9 lbs gone by mid-May.

Hi all
I'm still hanging in there. Not really losing but not gaining either. Just bumping this up to see how everyone else is doing.

Hello Jeremy, nice to hear from you! I've kinda given up on the thread. Not that I still haven't maintained my weight, just that it's hard to keep a thread alive by yourself! Keep up the good work, and that goes for everyone too!!!!

Hi Jeremy and Sheree - things are still going pretty well with me - still need to lose the 5 or 6 lbs I gained over the holidays and reconnect with sticking more with the SBD principles......I let beer back in to my life and I'm sure that's not helping - when it comes down to it - I know what I need to do, I just need to do it!

Sandy, I've read that drinking definately doesn't help. I've never been a drinker, so I don't have any answers for you. Hang in there though!

Sorry about the long absence. I'm back in graduate school and forgot how much time that can suck out of your life. I started SBD again on Ash Wednesday and have lost 11 pounds so far. Thanks goodness, because I did an awful lot of back sliding! It's good to know that so many of you are still doing so well. It takes a lot of time to make sure that your life is "South Beach friendly", but it makes so much sense and I feel soooooooo much better. I wonder if you can hire someone to whack you on the head when you forget how much better it feels?

Thanks for this thread! I didn't know it existed. I tried South Beach almost a year ago and loved the recipes but then fell off the wagon. I started again on Monday with Phase 1. So far so good except that I have trouble finding time to eat all the meals and snacks. I am feeling better already, but need to find time to exercise. I joined the web site and love the idea of the shopping list tool. Anyway, I hope I stick to it this time and thanks again for this thread. Congratulations to everyone on their success!

Lori, Hello!!!! Glad to hear from you again. 11 pounds is great, keep up the good work. Also I know what you mean about grad school. If you're not careful.......................

Dash, welcome. Yeah this is a two year and running thread. It is a great plan if you can stick to it. I find that it is extremely adaptable and if you can use me as an example, doable once you set your mind to it!

Signed up for the April exercise and 5 pound challenges -- hope they give me an extra kick in the pants. Welcome Dash!

Lori

Check out my story under Dr.says South Beach thread. I need some inspiration, motivation and a real good kick in the butt. I'll be 48 Fri. I'm 5'4" and weigh 207 and want to see 180-170. Will take any advice you can hand out. Thanks alot, Pam

Pam, just wanted to say welcome. I will check out your story as soon as I have a chance. Come back with any question you might have and I or someone around here will be there to answer and help out in any way that we can!!!

Pam --
Glad you followed through and found the SB crowd. Go back over some past postings here and read Sheree's success story. If that can't give you a jump start, there's no hope! Congratulations on the first 6 pounds and good luck the rest of the way...
:thumbsup2

AAAAAAAARRRRRGGGGHHHH!
I had some nasty strain of flu last week. Of course, the doctor put me on the brat diet -- bananas, rice, apple sauce, and toast. Of course, at that time salad was about as appealing as drilling a hole in the top of my head, but I feel like I've had such a set back now. Back to phase one -- again.

steve'swife, how are you doing? Are you feeling better? Sometimes that's something that just happens, you roll with it and then you get better. I've had to go on med's that messed me up, but it was back to phase one and then it came off again. Gotta love phase one!

Okay.. well, you all have inspired me to jump on this SB Bandwagon.... So... of course.. it's my first day of Phase 1.. and I already have a question... I think I know the answer.. but here goes.. does anyone know if Balsamic Vinegar is allowed in Phase 1? Or regular vinegar for that matter...

Thanks in advance.. and I am looking forward to getting to know all of you! Anyone heading down for the Minnie?

Kathy

Welcome Valentine and good luck !

I'd have to look it up, but I'm pretty confident balsamic vinegar would be ok in phase 1. Any salad dressing with 3g or less of sugar per serving is ok on phase 1

Hi Sheree'
(& Welcome Valentine)

I'm doing much better, thanks! It's nice to feel human again. As you said, it's back to phase one to get things back under control. I'm strategizing about Easter Sunday dinner now -- but that looks bleak. There's a big family dinner at my mom's. Ham, creamed turkey, candied sweet potatoes, au gratin potatoes, and so on. Eek!
