South Beach Dieters......... Unite

Just remember - I didn't come on in a day, won't come off in day either!

give it time - The weight will come off -

I really like this diet - I feel better, I am eating better -

We are all here to help - get some encouragement when you need it -

I agree that this is a great place for support. I know I couldn't have been as successful with out reaching for those cheat free, exercise and pound clippies plus keeping a journal and having my WISH buddies checking on me.

I went from size 26 pants to my current size 16 pants in six months. I think that's pretty good. Give it some time and you'll see the results you're looking for. Don't forget the scale isn't the only way to tell your progress. Measuring is another good way to keep tabs on how well you are doing. I seem to lose between 3 and 10 inches per month. I've also gone from a size 9 to a size 7-1/2 shoe. You'll see the positive changes soon, just keep up the great work!

Zera - 60lbs is awesome! What an inspiration!

So what do you measure to see inches lost? I am assuming waist, hips, thighs -

I know I am missing something -

I've lost over 50 inches and believe me I measure everywhere I can get that dang tape measurer!!!!

I start at the top with my neck, then I do both arms, my wrists, chest, waist, stomach, hips, both thighs and my ankles. I've seemed to have lost the most in my chest and stomach (and I'm not complaining). When I first started SBD, I was wearing a size 52 bra and now I'm in a size 44. I just love this way of eating! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

OK, here are my breakfast ideas:

Phase 1- besides the usual eggs, I would heat and crumble up 2 Jimmy Dean Maple Sausage (0 g of sugar) into a bowl and top it with a poached egg. The sausage crumble takes the place of the toast. I love it. OR, I make a mock french toast. A beaten egg, a little lowfat or fat free milk, pinch of cream of tartar, some cinnamon, a splash of vanilla. Mix it up. Cook like an omlette. Top with sugar free syrup or some butter substitute. It doesn't taste like egg, it tastes like french toast. ( I got sick of eggs too. Phase 2 gives you more options) OR, I have a ricotta creme for breakfast.

Phase 2- My favorite was a low carb pancake mix that I doctored up by using lowfat milk instead of water, added blueberries and some almond extract. I served it with crumbled pecans and sugar free syrup.
I also love my oatmeal with fat free half and half and again, my sugar free syrup. ( I love that Smuckers stuff! Yum! I've even drizzled it on my ricotta creme. And I am losing weight!! I love the Beach.)

Hope this helps.

Melissa - you reminded me of one of my favorite breakfasts that I haven't had for a while, the mock french toast. I know what we're having for breakfast this weekend! :)

For Phase 1 breakfasts - I liked making the quiche cups that are listed in the SBD book except I added crumbled bacon to ours.

For Phase 2 breakfasts - I like the mock french toast with breakfast meat and sugar free syrup or having 1/2 a bowl of whole wheat cereal with a couple of pieces of breakfast meat. I also like to take a couple of slices of whole wheat toast with simply fruit spread, 2 scrambled eggs with low fat cheese and a couple of pieces of breakfast meat together like a breakfast sandwich. Who needs McD's?!

:wave2: Hello everyone, I'm back.........

Again welcome to all the new SBD members. There is always room for everyone. We seem to keep growing and growing. The more the merrier.

Lisa, I'm glad you had a good trip. It was still raining after you left. I'm not sure I know what dry is.

Well all, I am sort of tired now. So, I'm gone. I'll check back in later.

It is nice to see so many new faces here. More people to encourage, and to receive encouragement from. As of yesterday, down 13 lbs. This is week 7 of SBD. I was hoping to lose a little quicker, but I think I am right on target with 1-2 pounds per week after Phase I.

Allyand Jack- I know how you feel about fruit. At the end of Phase I, I just could not look at another egg for breakfast. I think I ended up eating ricotta cream some mornings instead.

The mock french toast sounds interesting. I have been making regular french toast with high fiber wheat bread.

I'm off to the Wisconsin Dells this week-end for my family reunion. Luckily, my DS and SIL are on Atkins, so it will make it a little easier for me. Sometimes I think it would be OK to cheat for a few days, but then, those carb cravings kick in, and it is difficult to stop. I think moderation is the key.

Have a great week-end everyone!

Think I forgot to mention that the mock French Toast also needs a little Splenda in it to sweeten it up. I think I use a half packet per "omlette".

Hey guys, today makes 200 cheat free days for me! I haven't had one taste, lick, bite or sip of sugar or flour products (at least knowingly). When I completed the first 100 day cheat free challenge and started this second one, I thought it would take me forever but the time really went by fast. One thing I have learned is that even though we are allowed a sweet treat every night, I think I need to give them up for a bit and see if the scale is a little more cooperative. I'll let you all know how I do. I used to have a cup of hot tea before bed some nights instead of dessert or a bottle of water and a piece of sugar free gum, I might try that again too.

Sheree - welcome back! I'm sorry the rain didn't follow me home. Well actually it did. It was raining at home before we left, rained each day at Disney and has pretty much been raining just about every day since we've been home. I hope you had a great time! I'm working on getting my trip report typed up and hope to have it posted over the next couple of days. Are you doing a trip report? I'd love to read it!

leanne2255 - have a great time at your family reunion. It's good to have other family on a carb controlled plan to so you don't feel all alone. I wish someone else in my family was on one but DH and I stand united and that's great. The mock french toast is absolutely delicious! You should give it a try.

Melissa - I agree with you about adding the splenda. It does need to be sweetened up a bit. I can't wait to make some mock french toast this weekend!

leanne2255- have a wonderful time. Plus, don't worry about the weight loss. I sometimes think that if we lost weight as fast as we want too, it will come back even faster. This way we are doing it the safe way.

Lisa, I'm not sure about a trip report. 10 days is a long report. I am going to post all of the places we ate at though. I might do a trip report depending on if the kids give me a chance.

Thanks for the kind welcome, everybody!

Well, I'm off to a good start -- I found a tasty low-fat cheese, I've tried out a number of scrumptious new recipes, and I'm drinking a delicious cinnamon-orange tea in the mornings that's made me completely forget about coffee with cream. The ricotta cremes were a serious revelation -- I was completely off desserts before this week, and I was a bit afraid that eating them would reawaken my powerful sweet tooth, but I'm finding them to give me a decadent feeling without leading to that 'must-have-MORE' urge that was a problem in the past.

I didn't think I would have dramatic results right away, since I think I pretty much got rid of the 'easy' pounds over the last six months, but (not that it counts until my official weekly weigh-in day) I'm already down a couple of pounds!! Best of all, I had been stalled just a bit over the next ten-pound increment, so now I'm in the final decade of kilograms! Woo-hoo!

I ran into a friend today whom I had not seen since last year, and she couldn't stop talking about how much weight I've lost. I've been a bit down lately about being on a plateau, and it was a nice reminder of how much progress I've made since making these changes.

Onward and downward!

Massive cravings today, all of a sudden!! I wanted a muffin this morning - it looked so good. Now, I want a brownie. I'm drinking a Diet Pepsi to get me through the afternoon. I have no idea why!!

So, two weeks on the plan and I feel a difference in the way my clothes fit in the waist/stomach area. I don't weigh myself and I keep forgetting to measure, so this is my only way to tell and I think it's working.

My plan is to stay on Phase One with the exception of some fruit that I will add for breakfast with cottage cheese since I never want to see another egg as long as I live!! I might add some low-fat milk, too since I'd like to get some calcium. Other than that, I'm going to stay on Phase One until I get into my 16s. I'm a loose 18 now, so it should be soon.

I will, however, let myself have a little piece of my birthday cake next week! :teeth:

Hope everyone is having a good day!!

AllyandJack- sounds good. I get those cravings every once in a while and I've been on for 5 months. One thing to look at is if it's that time of the month. I crave around then. Otherwise let yoursefl have a little something sweet that is within your plan (do yo like sugar free popcicles? That always works for me.) Adding in a little bit more carbs is a great idea. That way you will know when and if you are eating to much. Keep up the good work

I am really glad I found this thread, I just started SBD yesterday and I am really having a hard time. I am just dieing for a carb!!! I am not weighing myself I just know I want to be able to button my pants again LOL!!!

Kimmykins- congrats. that clippie looks real good on you and I'm sure you feel good to

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Cris-Welcome. We love having new members. It is hard the first couple of days. I was carb crazy too. French fries from McDonald's was one of my biggest weakness. I haven't had a fry in over 5 months:teeth: I'm so proud. Come back anytime you need a word of encouragement, if you need help, or need to vent. Someone here will answer your call::yes::

Well everyone, today was my weigh in and I'm pleased to say I'm down another pound. That makes 34 total. Not just that, I am now below the 150's :thewave: I hope everyone is doing great.

no Mcds french fries for 5 months? Oh my you are crazy!! I had to have a diet coke lime today to help me not feel so weak. But had a very nice dinner: chicken, baby romaine leafs and cottage cheese.

Cris- it is hard not to have all the junk food I used to eat, but I guess now I'm just making smarter choices. It takes some getting used to, but after a while once your body adjusts, you won't miss it at all believe it or not. It's doable, and after a while, watching the weight come off become so much motivation that you won't want to mess up.

One week into South Beach and I'm down by 3 pounds!! Woo-hoo!!

I've been following the suggested meal plans for Phase 1 fairly closely, but I've been cutting out more and more things as the days go by because I'm simply not hungry enough for all that food.

I really wanted to lose another 5-10 pounds before we go on vacation next month, and it looks like a have a good shot!

Happy Monday, everyone!
