I'm not on a participating airline. Does this mean that I have to get my bags from luggage claim and bring them on the bus both ways? Do I not use these tags everyone is talking about?

I thought they take my bags no matter what... I'm thinking I am now very wrong since i don't have a participating airline.

Someone please clarify for someone who is getting old and dense!!!!

I feel pretty silly asking this, cause I'm sure it's been explained a zillion times, I just don't get it!!! :confused3

DON'T WORRY!!!! OK, Breathe. :)

When you are ARRIVING at MCO, the airline you're flying does not matter one whit. Put the yellow bag tags on your luggage. Go to the Welcome Center, check in, get on the bus, go to your resort, check in, enjoy, and your bags will show up 3-4 hours later.

When you are LEAVING MCO, that's when 'participating' matters. If you have a lot of time between checkout time, and your DME pickup time, leave your bags will Bell Services or Luggage Assistance, enjoy your last day. When it's time for your DME bus departure, get back to your resort's luggage assistance, claim your bags, and get on the bus.

WOW, a couple of big run on sentences on my part, but that's the gist. I did exactly this 2 short weeks ago. WOrked like a charm.

Enjoy your trip.

Thanks, you made that sound so easy.... I'm breathing...in...out... in.... out

Can't wait to go!

I don't understand this..

Does this mean they scan every flight that comes in? I'm lost here. I know the parcipitating airlines will be scanned, but do they go beyond them to look for other airlines that have disney DME tags?

Forget you ever heard the term "participating airline." I'll wait .... :rolleyes1

Okay, now we can move forward. WHEN YOU FLY INTO MCO, THE AIRLINE YOU USE DOESN'T MATTER.

YOU COULD START YOUR OWN COMMERCIAL AIRLINE TOMORROW, AND IF PEOPLE CHECKED LUGGAGE WITH DME TAGS ON CASSIE AIRWAYS, THEIR LUGGAGE WOULD BE PICKED UP BY DME AND DELIVERED TO THEIR RESORT ROOM, AND YOU AS THE AIRLINE OWNER WOULDN'T EVEN HAVE TO KNOW ABOUT IT.

So, as far as arrival at MCO goes, just totally eradicate the words "participating airline" from your vocabulary, as no such thing exists. Everyone on every airline arriving at MCO gets the full-on DME treatment -- the automatic luggage delivery (which means skipping baggage claim), the bus ride, etc.

"Participating airline" only matters for when you fly back home from Disney. Check out the sticky titled something like "What participating airline really means" -- it'll educate you further. :goodvibes
