Welcome to my newest Trip Report. Actually, "our" newest Trip Report as this is a joint venture between myself and eandesmom (Cynthia). Since Cynthia is still hard at work on her summer trip report, I will be the main narrator. Cynthia will be stopping by to add her own version of the events.

This was my first time at Food & Wine and I completely understand now why everyone raves about it. It was Fantastic. So. Much. Fun. I can't wait to till you all about it. But all I'm going to say now is - If you haven't been you NEED to go. Stop whatever it is you are doing now and start planning for next year.

The Details:

Dates: October 16-23, 2012

Locations: Villas of Wilderness Lodge for 4 nights and the Boardwalk Villas for three.

This is actually the second time Cynthia and I roomed together. We met right here on the DIS boards and we live about as far away as possible. I live on the East Coast in Delaware and Cynthia lives on the West Coast in Seattle.

I think its pretty cool that the DIS boards brought us together and I am sure we will be live long friends. We met in May 2010 during our infamous East meets West trip. If you are interested in that trip - see the link below.

Here we are 18 months later

We also had a partner in crime during this trip. Meet Poolrat Pat. You going to see a lot of her during this trip report.

So stick with us, buckle up, and enjoy the ride. This was a trip filled with lots of fun, laughter, good food, good wine, and plenty of DIS meets. Trust me, there is never a dull moment on this trip.

No Alarm Necessary

Aren't departure days the best? That feeling of energy that hits you the moment your alarm rings. Or in my case, no alarm was even necessary because I woke up before it ever went off.

I remember grabbing my phone, looking at the time, and thinking "Woo Hoo, I'm going to Disney today".

October 16th was a Tuesday and I made arrangements with Denny to take me to the airport. I was scheduled to fly out of Philadelphia at 9am.

Drop-off was uneventful and I did curbside check-in, which I love. Quick and painless.

Then I headed through security and treated myself to a smoothie because I really wasn't terribly hungry yet. Sorry, No picture!

While waiting I had a great view of the city

Southwest was also decorated for Halloween. Love it!

My flight

I was in a B boarding group and I selected a seat between two men. Hey, why not? They were both nice guys. Even though we didn't really have much dialogue, they seemed nice enough and it was a quick flight.

Towards the end of the flight there were a group of woman sitting in the rows ahead of me. Suddenly they started discussing their plans. Seems they were all flying down for some type of women in law lawyers convention. The whole trip was a write-off and these ladies had big plans for F&W themselves. Sounded like fun. We all got to chatting about our park plans and our Disney favorites.

It was nice to be at the airport at 1130, but as well all know, it took a bit longer to deplane.

When Denny and I travel we always rent a car, but I've taken ME enough to remember that Magical Express is on the B side and Southwest lands at the A terminal.

I made a quick stop for some water and then headed down to DME to find my bus.

When I got in line it was around 12:10. The line was LONG. I was surprised and I actually started to wonder whether I would get on the bus. I was pretty far back. I checked FB and checked email and probably texted Cynthia that I was there. I think her flight was getting ready to board or maybe she had already left.

Before I knew it, it was 12:30 and a woman in line asked if she should catch a cab. She said she was supposed to be at a conference session at the Grand Floridian at 1pm and if she was late she would not be admitted. She spoke with one of the DME employees who was absolutely no help. I felt bad for her. When the DME employee told her she would definitely be late and she should catch a cab, she asked what the price would be. When she heard the answer she said, "forget about it".

And with that our DME bus appeared.

Did I get on?

Yup.

But I was pretty far back in the bus.

YAY for a girls trip !! I dream of doing one of those sometime. Right now, though, my family would lynch me if I tried to go without them.

I agree that Food and Wine is an amazing time to go. I can't wait to see what you guys ate !!

I am so excited about the Grand Floridian DVC units. The points will probably be insane, but I REALLY want to stay there !!

Yay for Wilderness Lodge. We really enjoyed our time there in September.
