I'm going to buy a new vacuum today my old one just doesn't pick anything up. I need advice on which to buy. I've heard good things about the Dyson and the Kenmore but I don't know which model of each is the best.
I need the most suction power possible. I have 3 furry monsters and 3 kids too. My house is mostly carpet, but I would like to use it on my kitchen floor also. Any advice or good deals out there?

I've got 3 furry monsters too and after burning out two Hoovers and an Electrolux, I finally gave in and bought a Dyson. I got the animal version and I swear it's pulling dust up from the downstairs apartment!!!

We had an Oreck for the past 9 years. I thought it worked great but my DH was set on purchasing a Dyson. I had just vacuumed the whole house that day. When he brought the Dyson home he vacuumed the place again. The container was 1/2 full! I couldn't believe how much my vacuum wasn't picking up! We have the animal. It has a hose attachment that you pull out of the handle which I just love! You can be vacuuming and need to get to the base boards so you just pull out the hose and it's done!

I was leary but I'm absolutely sold. This gets all the dirt. they also have attachments for pets too.

I just got a vacuum. I didn't want to spend a lot of money on it, so I did a bunch of researching on epinions.com and amazon.com for vacuums less than $100 and ended up with this one:

Hoover Elite Rewind Bagless

I ran it over what I thought was a clean floor and came up with a pile of dirt in the cup! It picks up pet hair like nobody's business. I've never had a vacuum with such good suction in the attachment hose either.

I went through a long vacuum search last year, and I am not happy with what I got. First I ordered this one...

http://www.amazon.com/Hoover-U9125-900-Bagless-Upright-Vacuum/dp/B000CQVAVU

(from Etronics), and absolutely hated it. It was heavy and extremely cumbersome to use. I sent it back and took a hit on return shipping costs.

Then I ended up with this one....

http://www.sears.com/sr/javasr/prod...PPL&subcat=Upright+Vacuums&BV_UseBVCookie=Yes

and while I hate it less than the first one, I don't like it either it. I know I'll never go bagless again (I have to empty it way too often), it's heavy and does not get edges very well, and it has no edge for me to grab onto when doing stairs. The attachments are not good either. I end up using my old half broken down Hoover much of the time.

Just wanted to chip in one negative experience among all the "love my Dyson" 's you'll see. :) I just couldn't bring myself to spend that much, and when I do it'll be a Roomba. :) :)

Good luck.
