sore feet and blisters

I think a properly fitted shoe/sneaker and good socks is more important than how new or broken in they are. NBA players wear new sneakers every game and you never hear about them having blisters.

And those Glide/Friction Block products work well too.

My first visit to Disneyland California was a disaster , footwise. I had been on vacation in LA with friends and we did a one day visit to Anaheim. I had been wearing flat sandals on the other days of the vacation so on the Disney day I just put them on, not realising the heat and how much we would be walking!!

Since that first year I learnt my lesson. I now wear Sketchers, preferably with memory foam. My feet still ache but no where near as bad as the first year. Also a tip I tried on a visit to Disneyland Paris , which worked great last year in Disneyland California, each night, no matter how late I got back to my hotel, I had a bath and soaked my feet. It really help with the aching and burning soles.

You really don't realise just how much you walk during a day in the park, especially if like me you are there from early morning until park closing :)

I have some OLD Tevas that I love and have never hurt my feet no matter how much I wear them. I bought them in 2003.

Now I am worried, though, that they might finally bite the dust soon, I mean they are 12 years old! I found a pair of the teva Terras for 40 on Amazon just now. I am thinking I should try them out?

I can only wear tennis shoes. No matter what sandals I've tried, I always end up having blisters. So, I bring a couple of different tennis shoes to alternate and one pair of sandals or flip flops to wear around the resort.

Sketchers Go Walkers with 12 hour Dr Scholl inserts! Always wear socks. That worked great for me. Body glide and the liquid bandage type of band aids if needed. I also have peppermint foot spray that I put in the fridge in the room. It is GLORIOUS after a long day in the park :worship::worship:

I find changing shoes/sandals during the day helps, too. I usually wear UnderArmour flips (the ones with memory foam) during the day and switch to GoWalks in the evening (or vice versa). SmartWool makes a 'ped' style sock that doesn't show over the shoe that I really like. Another vote for Body Glide here, too! I put it where the flip flop straps are and all over the top of my foot, back of heel for the shoes. I have to wear an ankle brace due to a bad fracture a few years ago (pinned & plated) so I've also started carrying a mini-microfleece towel (not much bigger than a washcloth) in my back pack to dry my feet off after water rides or if they get really sweaty. Most of my problems arise from wet or sweaty feet rather than ill fitting shoes!

A hot shower, elevated feet/legs, peppermint lotion, & 2 pain pills of your choice at bed time.

Good sneakers (I find running shoes the best, walking shoes are too stiff) and good socks. The only blisters I have ever gotten anywhere came from wearing sandals or shoes without socks. Socks prevent the friction that cause blisters. Good socks are important. Wet or sweaty feet in good socks have never caused me any issues. Flip flops cause me foot pain and cramping due to high instep/arch. Good sneakers also protect your feet. People in flip flops and sandals are more likely to have foot and ankle injuries, everything from scraping toes to twisting ankles.

what is this Body Glide you are all talking about?? Where do you buy it and how much is it? I will be in LA for a week before I head to Anaheim so I will have time to go shopping in a drugstore or supermarket for last minutes bits

I was able to avoid painful blisters and feet issues on our last Disney trip (I suffered horribly on our very first trip) by rotating which shoes I wore every couple days. I packed a good broken in pair of sneakers, athletic type sandals, and mary jane style crocs. This worked out very well for me.

I didn't read all of the responses but change your shoes at least daily or even midday if you take a break! If you swap out it reduces the friction on the same areas of the feet.

I used to have this problem so bad. Wicking socks will change your life! The Duo-Dry ones at Target aren't that expensive and work great. I also put Band Aid Friction Block on prone areas. Never had another blister since. I never realized what a difference the socks could make.

I've worn every kind of shoe to the parks. They always hurt at the end of the day, no matter what. But as weird as it sounds, my feet feel pretty good wearing my good ole yellow box sandals. They are worn in and cushy and open so my feet don't sweat. I try to mix them up and wear sandals some days and my cross trainers another. I have the Mickey crocs which I've always loved but those big crocs are so darn ugly. They are comfortable, though, and if you go on a wet ride they dry out really nicely.

I'll never forget on my honeymoon(in 1992) when it was popular to wear the white keds-and we all wore them without socks. Yep, you got it-I got a brand spanking new pair for my honeymoon and wore them the first day! O.M.G. I had blisters the size of Texas on my heels. My new hubby and I had to go shop for me some comfy walking shoes. That was painful. :(

The most important foot rule for me is to never wear the same pair of shoes two days in a row. Honestly, that is the only thing that keeps me walking after 10 days In the parks. Also changing mid day if possible is good.

I actually find I can wear less comfortable shoes if I swtich often.

I usually do s combo of sketchers (go walks or memory foam but I prefer go walks), easy spirit sneakers, tevas and clarks or Nike flip flops.

Ditto here ... had issues for years with just about every shoe until I started rotating. I generally do change mid-day too. That keeps the "hot spots" that are bound to develop in any shoe from getting too much at one time. I also use Band Aid Blister Block anywhere the shoe is in contact with delicate parts of the foot. I take it along in a bag (or even a pocket as it is small) so I can re-apply frequently throughout the day. Haven't had a blister in the last several trips. Shoes of choice are ECCO Sport Yucatan, Teva Tirra, and Crocs Flip Flops (but not in the rain!).

I live in flip flops during the spring/summer, but when we went to Disney I knew I needed to wear sneakers. I can't walk long distances in flip flops or my heels get sore. I covered my feet in Body Glide (ordered online at Dick's Sporting Goods) and wore socks with my New Balance sneakers. I did develop a blister on the bottom of my foot one night, but I had the special blister band aids and they worked great.

I always wear tennis shoes and never thought about rotating. I usually get blisters in all the same spots so this next trip I'm going to try that body glide stuff and maybe get another pair of shoes to rotate with. I'll stick with the best broken-in ones for Epcot though!

I guess everyone is different. I wear my fit flops and the thick foot bed helped avoid shin splits or blisters and I didn't mind getting my feet wet. I just hate the thought & feeling of wet sneakers and then having to walk around in them. I haven't had any issues with my fit flops at all.

For those of you that wear flip flops, are your feet filthy at the end of the day? Mine are and it's disgusting but any other shoe gives me blisters.
