I followed up on the threads last week about Sopranos, and thought it would be good to have one thread to discuss the show.

I agreed with everyone last week that the "Christopher" show was the best of the season so far. I was on the edge of my seat, saying, "No...no....this isn't happening!" about Tony & Ad, and Chrissy.

This week's show was just so-so to me. We knew Tony B (it is a B, right?) would be drawn back in eventually. He was becoming too involved - like interfering between Tony and Christopher the week before.

While I know she didn't intend to, it seemed to me like Carmella was using him a bit too. It just wasn't good for them to get involved. But wait until ol' double-standard Tony gets wind of Carmella's "adventures."

Not much Meadow this year -- was she too busy filming her Heidi Fleiss miniseries?

When he found the $12K and started spending it, you could see how much he missed the 'life'.
He couldn't live like that delivery laundry.

Carm...well intentional or not was using teh advisor and defending her screwed up son (how fast do eyebrows grow back?)

Its a shame that he blew all that money....But it should be interesting watching him go back to his old ways....

I think this episode was slow, yes, but it also told a story. It gave some info on Tony going back to the life of the mob. It showed Carm trying to move on with her life...and maybe reliezing that she really loves Tony...who knows...But I enjoyed it just for what it was...the continuation of the story

yeah but no one got whacked

:teeth:

I do agree that we need episodes like this week's to help with the depth of the stories.

It's just a little more exciting when they mix it in with some good, old fashioned mob stuff.

Carmella has a pretty skewed view of herself. She thinks she's
not a user? I can think of one neighbor who would disagree
regarding getting Meadow into college. Carmella and Tony belong
together and Carmella is beginning to realize she's stuck.
I think good old Bob will be one of the wackees this
season. I thought it was telling when she said "watch yourself!"
Did Tony B off Mr. Kim? He was just lying there on the floor with
his eyes open and the carp flipping around on the floor.
A.J. is such a loser. I can't believe with all the perks he gets and
the friends he has that actually are smart that he isn't seeking
to at least be on their level. Isn't peer pressure supposed to
work that way too!? hahahahaha
I love the Sopranos!

What was with Carmela looking at Tony's picture, then putting the gun under "his" pillow? Can only guess that she's afraid he'll find out what she did with Anthony's teacher, then come after her!?!
I like how Carmela said to the advisor, "just watch yourself"!

(how fast do eyebrows grow back?)

Seems it only takes one week for eyebrows to grow and facial bruises to disappear and a day or 2 for skinned legs to heal. Someone clarify this for me if I am wrong, but I could have sworn the other Tony's skinned leg was fine by the end of the show.

So true I almost forgot about that :hyper:

They also never really state how much time has gone by between the episodes...for all we know it could have been a month between them...that would explain the bruises and the eyebrows

But what happened with the bear???

That is one storyline that was left hanging. But I'm glad.

I'm much more interested in what happened to the Russian...

The Russian that escaped from the Pine Barrens?

Yep. I think they talked about him on the first episode of the season, but my memory is failing me. Did they say where he is now (if he's dead?)?

I think the Russian bought a bear suit and is secretly spying on the Sopranos.

Does anyone agree that Tony S. was most likely behind both the laundry truck hijacking and the $12K cash drop to try to lure Tony B. back into the "business"? It seems that way to me, especially since at the end of the episode he says to Tony B., "It's tough doing business with strangers."

Overall, this may have been a slow episode but some of the quotes were funny. Paulie (as usual, he's my favorite character) saying "Where's my tupperware?" and "Remember Pearl Harbor".
And Christopher: "There's a dog groomer next store if they want a snack." That was SO bad! And A.J. "She doesn't know a pop tart from a fruit roll-up." Sounds like my 14 year old's diet;)

Oh, and in reference to the previous few posts, "Pine Barrens" was positively my favorite Sopranos episode.

I LOVE this show!

You guys sound like my DH - Paulie is his favorite! One of his favorite lines of all time was just last season, when he broke into the lady's house..."I didn't know you were home!" Pine Barrens was an absolute riot! Those guys are such idiots. And there are so many unfinished stories with Paulie - the various stuff with Johnny Sacks, the issues with Christopher, and there seemed to be some underlying things between him and Sil if I remember right. Or was I just imagining that?

I honestly never thought about Tony being behind those things. I think because a lot of the time on this show they give us some indication of what's going on "behind the scenes." But that would be an interesting twist.

Oh yeah - DukeStreetKing - very funny.

So.....what did you all think? This was a weird episode to me. Was anyone else just waiting for Tony to do it with his dad's ex-lover? Will he ever admit his father wasn't "all that?" What's the deal with Christopher and Tim Daly's character. Reminds me of that guy Tony brought into the poker games two seasons ago.

I wasn't overly into this episode, but I see it as a build-up for weeks to come.

Any thoughts?

It was quite an interesting twist with Christopher and TD's character.
I thought Tony and the mistress were going to get it on! Very strange! I didn't realize Tony was still with the art dealer.
What's with the uncle and all the funerals? I know he's stir crazy being stuck in the house, but really!
