Sooze's Surprise Trip for DS's 8th UPDATE! p.20 #287 11/3 Link to New TR p.19

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: I love that you went "spying" with the water mouse!! That is SO ME!!! :lmao: Love the update. Looks like Ty did have some fun.

We are home now. Thanks for the prayers! Everything seems to be ok over here. Thank goodness.

Looking forward to hear the results of the pirate cruise.
I saw your family in the Indy DISmeet thread-Shae is so big now!

My goal is an update Friday night!! Hope you come back.
Yes.. my little girl is growing up MUCH faster than I care for her to!

Great update Sooze! Hooray for Matt saving the day by buying Tyson that sword!:cool1: I hope Tyson enjoyed the cruise, our boys did the one from the Yacht Club 2 years ago when they were 6&4 and they LOVED it! I was glad they had each other to go with though, so I completely understand why he was apprehensive!:thumbsup2 So great that you got to have a DIS meet/old friend meet!:goodvibes Looking forward to more!popcorn::

I was so proud of Matt for sensing the need and jumping on the solution before Ty got even a teensy bit upset! It was a great moment. I sure wish Ty had a brother/sister/cousin to go with him, I think he would've liked it much more!

I almost talked myself out of spying, but knew I'd regret it later... and I found out that my little spying excursion actually helped Ty enjoy himself even more. Hope to tell about it in my next update.. hopefully Friday night!

Glad y'all are safe and that Ike is sparing you... kinda...

Thar be Pirates! pirate: Argh! You know, I'm really bummed my kids are too old to do the Pirate Cruise. I can't wait to hear Ty's review. :surfweb: Too cool that you got some 'adult' time when Ty was on the cruise. :thumbsup2

Oh, and by reading your replies, I see that you just recently/are in the process of adding-on! :yay: WoooHooo I wasn't sure what the details were when you mentioned it on my TR. I know you said something about wanting to add-on earlier this year. CONGRATULATIONS!!! :dance3: I'm so happy for you! I warn you though, expect another one in about 4-5 years... :rolleyes1 Something about having enough points to retire and spend a month or more at OKW during the cold Midwest winters just sounds appealing, doesn't it? LOL! I'm just getting OLD. :rotfl:

Hey Susie, so excited you guys are adding on!!! At AKL I assume? How does that work then, do you have to pay dues at both places? Does it make your payments go up a huge amount? You can PM me if you want. Maybe you guys will make it down in the summer sometime now and we can "bump" into eachother;) :thumbsup2 .
Have fun with grading papers, can't wait for another update to hear how the pirate cruise went.
Lesley

Stay tuned.. update coming up!!

Yes.. WE ADDED ON!! 100 points at AKV ;) We were going to wait out the BLT.. but decided the incentives, timing, and price of this deal were just too much to pass up. We probably won't be able to afford BLT until we win the lottery.. but we can always try to stay there on our points, right? And, dang.. I never thought about a month at OKW during the winter.. but, then again, DH and I plan on retiring to Orlando so we can be there ALL THE TIME!! (and work in the parks, of course!)

Yes! 100 Points at AKV!! We will have to pay dues at both. Our dues went up about $100 a month, which isn't too bad. We were able to put a large chunk down because of some extra work Matt did over the summer. We are sooo excited. I also just called and got into the Beach Club for Spring Break. 5 nights! Now we're ready to get planning. 20 more days until we can make our ADRs!!

And we will definitely be doing more travel in the summer, so I'm sure we will bump into each other! Still want to meet you at KI, but that just keeps getting pushed aside...:sad2:

We strolled back to the marina to pick up our little pirate, hoping he had not contracted scurrvy on his long voyage. I needed to take a picture of this plant:
08DisneySurprise116.jpg

Does anyone know that name of this? I just think it's gorgeous.. and it's all over WDW. I need some in my yard!!!

The boat came back filled with singing and "AAARRRGGH"ing little pirates. Tyson was all smiles when he saw us. We were relieved.. maybe he did have a bit of a good time!

I have the most precious video of him telling us that he had fun, but missed us "so much". He said "I had tears in my eyes a little bit". My little guy... but he did mention that when he saw me in my spy-boat, he got very happy!

His overall thoughts:
Best part of the cruise: When we found the treasure, because we had to use our map to find it.
Worst part of the cruise: Me leaving you, because I love you guys.

:rolleyes1 No.. I did NOT ask him to say that!! In fact, I just said, "Was there anything about the CRUISE that you didn't like?" He said, "mmm, mmm":sad2: (in other words, nope)

So there you have it.. fresh out of the mouth of babes!

Our plans had us heading over to DHS next. Tyson was BEGGING to ride ToT and said he wanted to do RNR too!! Seriously, it's all because his cousins came here earlier, and his younger cousin rode these things. So now, Ty had a new braveness about himself. SWEET!!

We walked to the GF bus stop and waited for .. a long time!!
08DisneySurprise045.jpg

Ty was glad to be back with us, but you could tell he was tired. Honestly, I think this long bus wait was what he needed.. a chance to just SIT. Then, by the time we made it to DHS, he was ready to go again!

SIDE STORY:
Matt has been really into the Pirates of the Caribbean movies lately. He insisted, the ENTIRE trip, on saying "CAPTAIN JACK SPPAAAAARRRROOWWW" in his best Barbosa voice very loudly and in Tyson's face. It was quite funny. Well, as you can imagine, after Ty's pirate adventure, Matt went at it full on! It was "CAPTAIN JACK SPPAAAARRROOOWWWW" every five seconds. Yes... it WAS annoying, but Tyson was laughing so hard about it, I couldn't get mad!

We quickly made our way to the Studios and found no wait whatsoever to get inside.
08DisneySurprise049.jpg

We made the right turn onto Sunset Blvd (any other Broadway fans out there find themselves singing that song whenever they see that sign? Or maybe it's just me... ) Since we were super psyched that Ty was ready for his first upside down ride adventure, we went straight to RNR. Unfortunately, the line was UBER long and the fast passes weren't until 3 in the afternoon. UGH! If we wait until then, we won't make it to AK in time for a Nemo show... whining mode starting to emerge.

little angel on my shoulder..." Now Susie... this is Tyson's birthday trip... and it's Tyson's birthday... if he doesn't need to see Nemo.. neither do you...."

little devil on my other shoulder..."..... .... ... um, yeah.. the angel is right!"

So we stayed.. at DHS... for a long time!

We did manage to ride ToT. The last time we rode this with Ty, he was 5... and it scared him TO DEATH. He swore he'd never ride it again. It wasn't the drops, necessarily, it was the dark, spooky, lightning-filled adventure that came before it. Well, he had NO hesitations this time. And he truly loved it, as did we!
Ty's ToT Face:

Imagine Matt saying "CAPTAIN JACK SPARRRROOOWWWW" at the top of his lungs whilst slicing the scallywag's throat:
08DisneySurprise111.jpg

The line moved quickly and we were soon in the hotel.
08DisneySurprise117.jpg

Here's a close up of the Scrabble game.. hmmmm.. they must be playing in Asia somewhere:
08DisneySurprise118.jpg

We had so much time to kill, and I had already ridden my favorite DHS ride. Tyson dragged us onto the Great Movie Ride. I really wouldn't have minded, but the line was so long.. and it's just not worth it to me, unless you get an OUTSTANDING CM driving your car. We... did NOT! In fact, our CM's accent was so strong, I could barely understand what he was saying. Oh well, Ty was loving it, so we did too!

Next stop, the Animation Building to cool off. I was SOOO happy to see Wall E there. So was my boy:
08DisneySurprise154.jpg

Well, BOTH boys!
08DisneySurprise155.jpg

They actually had a lot of Wall E stuff:

08DisneySurprise160.jpg

This was a little TV that was playing WALL E clips.
08DisneySurprise161.jpg

While Ty was watching, I saw something large out of the corner of my eye sneaking up behind him... it was Fro-zone!! I guess he had nothing else to do and was meandering around the room and decided to stalk Tyson! It was a funny moment and I couldn't get my camera ready fast enough to capture it. But we walked with Fro back to the Photo Pass area and got some shots.

Then came Mr. and Mrs. Incredible:
08DisneySurprise164.jpg

After spending lots of time in the animation building (by the way, we went in the back way, through the animation store, so we didn't have to sit through the presentation) we were getting hungry. Matt and I really hadn't had lunch, since we were waiting for the boy. So we had a late lunch near the Honey I Shrunk the Kids playground. Um... yes... I had to go there, again. Matt and I took turns, actually, so I didn't have to do TOO much time.

In fact, I only took one picture... the annual "Kodak Slide" picture:
08DisneySurprise119.jpg

I have one of these from every year, but just for space sake.. here's the first one, when Ty was a mere 3 years old.
TriptoDisney03070.jpg

Wow.. when we go back as a family, Shae will be 3... I can't believe it. I guess we'll have to start her own Kodak Slide pictures,eh?

We had one more event to see before our RNR FPs were up... the new Block Party Bash. I have TONS of pictures and even some video of this, so come on back!

Happy to hear Ty survived the pirate cruise, plus had fun. Great pictures taken at DS, really enjoyed the two picture of Ty on the slide and the pictures with Wall E.

2 things that occurred to me after reading over my latest update:

#1 I don't think that's a Scrabble game in the ToT queue. Maybe Mahjong?

#2 I forgot to mention in the Honey I Shrunk the Kids playground that they REPLACED THE NETs in the spider web/climbing area. They don't smell so bad.. yet!!

Okay.. thanks for letting me get that off my chest!

Thanks! I always come home wishing I had taken more pictures... but the Kodak slide is always a MUST!!

I'm glad he had a good time on the cruise. :goodvibes The kodak slide photos are precious. What a great tradition.

And congratulations on your AKL add-on and booking spring break. It's always better to have the next trip to look forward to!! I confess that I am thinking a lot about a DVC purchase. I guess I'll wait and see what the incentives are when I go down there in October.

Won't it be fun when the kids are getting ready to graduate HS to make a timeline using those Kodak Slide pics?!

On the DISUnplugged Podcast a while back, they did a segment about how to overcome your Disney blues (when you return from a trip). The number one way to get over the blues is to START PLANNING YOUR NEXT TRIP!! Can I get an amen?!

Hey, if you do decide to drop by DVC to do any investigating, and you just happen to need a name to use as a reference... I'd be HAPPY to let you use ours...;) We are simply ecstatic that we joined. I'm sure there are financial folks out there that can prove we are wasting money somehow.. but I don't care. We LOVE IT!!

Does anyone know that name of this?
DOH! I'm having a total brain lapse, but I used to have some in a planter. Not croton, but it works nicely with croton. It's pretty easy! :thumbsup2

Worst part of the cruise: Me leaving you, because I love you guys.
:goodvibes

:rotfl: No, but I think you'll appreciate this: I find myself humming tunes from Guys and Dolls a lot in MGM!

THANK YOU!!! We were sad to not see Wall.e anywhere last trip - now I know where to find him! :yay:

That's what I'm thinking, too. :thumbsup2

Somebody has to know.. this stuff was everywhere!! And... ummm.. I don't even know what croton is, either... not a plant person... but I can appreciate the beauty of it!

"Can Do... Can Do.. this guy says the horse can do...." ;)

Hey Sooze! Thanks for the great update! Tyson is too cute saying that he missed you guys!:lovestruc I am glad he enjoyed the cruise! So cool that he loves the thrillers now....isn't it great when they finally come around:thumbsup2 CONGRATS on the add on! Maybe we will see each other at some point at the AKV:goodvibes Wow, what great pics. at HISTK playground to see how much Ty has grown! OK off topic but..how did the Carolina Crown do at DCI's? Did they make the finals? It is a tradition for us to watch the finals on Thanksgiving morning, they always rebroadcast it then (I know a day late and a dollar short):rotfl2: Did you hear that they were closing the Beauty and the Beast show at DHS? I read another TR where the poster said she read it here on the DIS:scared1: I hope it's not true!:confused3 OK I'm all done now!:rotfl:

Too cute about missing you while Tyson was on the pirate cruise. That would be so cute to do the Kodak pics for his HS graduation timeline. Thankfully I never had to endure the playground, my kids are much older. Did you get to ride TSM?

Great update! I am pretty sure the plant is called a Coleus. It comes in a lot of different colors. It is really pretty. I am glad that Ty had fun on the cruise. The Kodak film pictures are priceless! :goodvibes

Crown did AMAZINGLY well this year! Not only did they make finals, but they finally broke into the top 5.. placing 4th!! The made some HUGE strides this year and we are already excited about next summer.. Anxious to see how much more damage they can do!

OH NO!!! I hope not! And if it IS true, the better be replacing it with something else... like Aladdin the musical... or something. Let me know if you hear any more!

I'll show you in my next update what happened with TSM! Basically, we were too late for FPs and unwilling to wait in the standby line. We also knew we'd be back for Spring Break and had a lot more chances to get to DHS for rope drop/FP.

Great update! I am pretty sure the plant is called a Coleus. It comes in a lot of different colors. It is really pretty. I am glad that Ty had fun on the cruise. The Kodak film pictures are priceless! :goodvibes

I Google imaged "Coleus" and it looks like you got it! Thanks!!

Great trip report! I'm glad Tyson had fun on the Pirate Cruise. DS#1 rode TOT for the first time when he was 4. He declared that he would never ride it again. He surprised us in May when he declared that he wanted to ride it again at DCA. He loved it the second time around.

I grew up watching Drum Corp on PBS. I am so excited for Carolina Crown this year. I love watching them grow and get better every year. We used to live right across the border from Ft. Mill, SC. I am hoping that next summer we can make it back to Drum Along The Rockies in Denver. Such a great show.

Isn't it a good thing to know that when kids say "never again" that they don't really mean it!!

Have you been to a live drum corps show, or did you just watch on TV? Crown is just awesome to watch live. I know I'm biased, but DH has done a heck of a job with their horn line... chills every time!

Thanks for reading along!

Love your pictures. I loved that coleus too. They have such beatiful foliage everywhere. I have never gone to the playground but it looks fun. I'm sure we would never be able to drag the kids away. We take pictures every visit at the christmas scene in Downtown Disney. It's so neat to see them grow over time. So sweet what he said after the cruise. Can't wait for the next installment.
