You girls are funny...I tried REALLY hard to look like that and spent a lot of time on my hair and makeup since I knew I was getting induced!

I'll tell you though, my personality did not match how I looked. I was mean and had an ugly attitude. (I didn't feel like sharing this part in the story!

) But the night after I had Landon, I couldn't sleep at all. My friend was in the room with me and we were talking. I was just resting my eyes and thought we were all alone as I said "I just want to punch these nurses in the face!" (I may have also used some more "colorful" words...) because I was so mad about all the iv stuff and everything. My friend later informed me that the nurse had been in the room when I said that!! But I'm sure they've heard worse working in the delivery wing!
Mitchell came about ten days early. It was Christmas Eve and I had worked the day before and was looking forward to a day off. DH had to work a half day and I was just lazing around in the bed and I needed to use the bathroom. As soon as I sat down, I knew I was in labor. So I called the dr. and called DH and they said to keep an eye out for contractions and water breaking. DH didn't come home right away b/c he was at work already - an hour away. He didn't think I was in labor and all of his guy friends were telling him if I was in labor, I'd know it and then first babies always come LATE. I was mad, so I stayed at hom counting contractions.
The longer the day went the more miserable I became. DH came home and I convinced him to take me to the hospital. I had called the dr. and they were waiting for me. DH was ill b/c he just figured he'd take me all the way to the hospital, only to have to come right back home. It was Christmas Eve, so not an ideal way to spend your holiday.

Well, in the car, those contractions starting coming about four minutes apart and I was hollering at him to run every red light he could! We get to the hospital, and some dumb woman asks if I'm in labor in the elevator. I know how you felt, Kimmy! I wanted to punch her lights out for asking such a stupid question!
I was four centimeters dialated when we got there and bleeding like crazy! The put me in triage to watch me for a couple of hours, gave me a shot in the rear end for the pain, and two hours later I was 6 centimeters dialated. They RUSHED me to the delivery room, gave me my epidural, and two hours later, my sweet boy came into the world. Half an hour before Christmas Day. It was an easy delivery. He was 6 lbs. 14 oz.
And I had not one speck of makeup on my face, my contacts had long since been in my eyes (pregnancy dried my eyes out) and so I had to wear my ugly old glasses, and my face was so swollen and fat looking! It was horrid. I hate the pictures of me following the birth.
But if I had known about it, I, like you, would have been well prepared with make up and hair - the works! You really did look beautiful and now you have lovely pictures that you can share. And I'm sure you're right - the nurses have probably heard way worse than that in the maternity ward!

Funny story - thanks for sharing that!
