If Mickey Mouse was standing next to Rush Limbaugh in a photo, their would be such a fit on these boards, a lot more than 1 post on liberals.

He'd be slipping Mickey some Viagra! Minnie would have a GOOD time that night! A GRAND GATHERING! :rotfl:

I might get flamed to hell for this but... that thing there is a shining example of why I absolutely detest liberals.

I'll bite. Why does this make you detest liberals? Would you, being a conservative, force him to wear a button up shirt and tie? Or would you merely force him to listen to W speak on, well, anything and drive him to take his own life? I'm editing to add that Marilyn Manson is hardly indicative of a morally corrupt culture. Our culture has always been morally corrupt if you look at the government and entertainment. Look at a variety of cultures historically and their forms of entertainment:

Gladiators, bear baiting, public execution, stoning, lynching, orgies, eating massive feasts while people are starving not 50 feet away, etc.

You REALLY love to generalize because you need someone to hate. You throw out a comment filled with bile and then you respond to your opposition with persecuted sounding one-liners. I don't like it because you foster a mentality of intolerance. I'm curious as to why you like Disney so much if you are so abhorrent of debauched entertainment. Rich and languid people eating until they can't eat another bite, purchasing that which they can't afford...it's all the seven deadly sins in one, and I love it!!

You hate liberals because a person (not a thing) named Marilyn Manson is pictured in a publicity photo with a person dressed up like Mickey Mouse? Your post is offensive, inane, and :offtopic:

I agree with some of the posters in this thread. Johnny has done some pretty....selective movies. No different from Manson. Who cares! Everyone can like Mickey.

Seriously, if it'd let me spend the evening hanging out with Johnny Depp as well? I'd definitely rub elbows with Marilyn Manson. (Heck, I'd hang out with Marilyn just to get a chance to party with Mickey.)

As for the whole guy vs. image debate, I'd like to enter Alice Cooper as evidence of how a person's persona has nothing to do with how they live off-stage. Vincent Furnier (Cooper's real name) is quite a staunch conservative.. and I'd wager a bet that he's also a huge source of inspiration for Manson.

Not to mention that no explanation is offered as to why a rather innocuous photograph of a controversial figure with a Disney character should make him hate anyone. Even androgynous devil worshipers need a hug from Mickey every now and then.

There's a marketing campaign in that somewhere, I can just feel it. :rotfl2:

Oh you Marilyn Manson bashers!!! He grew up in my neighboring community! My daughter took some classes at the same high school he went to! We are hometown proud - well, okay, maybe not. :rotfl2:

He really did grow up in the community right next to me but I honestly can't say that I am proud of that fact!

A little FYI re: Marilyn Manson (perhaps after reading this, one might understand why he chose to rebel against establishment structures)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marilyn_Manson_%28person%29

Brian Warner was born in Canton, Ohio. He attended Heritage Christian School, but was alienated by what he saw as hypocrisy, and a religion that seemed to teach fear more than it taught virtues; sermons prophesying the Apocalypse had a lasting effect upon his outlook. After transferring and later graduating from Canton's Glen Oak High School, Brian and his family moved to Boca Raton, Florida. While living in Boca Raton, he attended Broward Community College studying journalism and theatre [1], becoming assistant entertainment editor of BCC's student newspaper, the Observer.
An interesting tidbit there, too:
He is currently working on PHANTASMAGORIA: The Visions Of Lewis Carroll, which will appear on his website in Winter (USA).
Could be quite interesting. :)

So anyway...

I never said I hated anyone. Not liberals, not gays, not even Manson.
I said "detest". Big difference.

detest
v : dislike intensely; feel antipathy or aversion towards

My best friend in the world, the guy whom I'd call the brother I never had, the dude I'm takin down to WDW for his 32nd birthday in 3 months is a moderate liberal. I'm a moderate conservative. We debate stuff all the time, like rational civil adults.

When I say I have a problem with Manson, well, that's my opinion and I'm entitled to it. Just as everyone else is entitled to theirs. And I really don't see how my post is off topic when the title of this thread is "Sometimes I question Mickey's new friends."

Now, if you all would really like me to go and offer my arguement and back up what I have said previously in this thread, I'd certainly oblige.

But I still don't see what Marilyn Manson has to do with liberals and your contempt for them. I am a liberal and darn proud of it. Manson is not my favorite person. I find him creepy and highly strange, to say the least. But wait, I'm a liberal, so I must like him. Right?

I just don't get how you got from point A to point B.

Is that that Marilyn Manson thing?
I'm sure you don't like the dude, but to call him a thing? You are saying he is less than human. As much as I dislike Ann Coulter, I wouldn't ever resort to referring to her as something sub-human, no matter how hideous she is.

What does that have to do with anything? Are liberals at fault for allowing a man to dress and express himself the way he wants? Shame on us for believing in the First Amendment. Why is it first? Not the first to be disregarded, but the first to be upheld.

The hotel I worked at once had a punk band and Sesame Street Live staying at the same place. The punkers had green hair and piercings...everywhere.

One of the Sesame Street Live people got arrested at the hotel for stealing $30,000 worth of the punk band's CDs and stuff, and was taken away cursing and screaming, while the punk pierced lady leader of the band calmly and clearly spoke to the police and hotel general manager. It's a sight I'll never forget.

If you can't trust Big Bird, who can you trust?

I feel sorry for the "goth" people. Their "look" is not condusive to summer touring. Black leather or worse vinyl is NOT breathable and neither is no-run white face paint. In addition the platform boots that many of them wear have got to hurt after a long day at the parks.

Ya know, it's so hard to put any type of opinion on the boards because someone always takes them too seriously. I assume the original post was probably just for fun and yet now people are having a serious debate.

Maybe everyone should go read our exchange earlier in the thread, where we said "At least we can disagree and smile about it" and "Amen Brotha" and they'd realize that even if you detest liberals you can still hang out with them.

Seriously I would have to write a small novel to state my opinions on things like Manson, Bush, Iraq, whatever.

By the way, in my opinion we should be able to bring our unlimited coke cup back to Disney every time we visit. We should be able to pool hop. We should also be able to get adult meals on a kids dining plan :yay: just kidding :)

ITA. And btw, I am not a "liberal". I am socially liberal, yes...but I am a Libertarian and quite conservative on TRUE political issues. The OP was pretty offensive to me, as well. :bitelip:

:sad2: Folks, get your undies out of a knot. For real.

Trus story. Orange Bowl, Miami FL, Late 1998. We went to go and see the Rolling Stones in concert. Dave Matthews Band (Dave is another hard core lefty, and also one of my favorite musicians) opened, followed by Blind Melon, and then Marilyn Manson. Dave rocked, Blind Melon was alright... Marilyn Manson totally got booed off the stage. 70,000 or so people booing so loud you couldn't hear what they were playing. They just stopped playing and left. When they did, the house lights came on and everyone cheered. It was a good night.
