Something positive

We have been going to WDW since our honeymoon 40 years ago. I don't complain about the changes, there is always something new and exciting!!!
My Fav's right now-
FP+
Magic Bands
The new 7DMT
FoF Parade (AWESOME, and I haven't been excited about a MK parade in many years!)
BOG
EE (new record of 12 rides in a row!!!)
Water Parks! (lets hear it for the lazy river!)
Riding Disney Transportation! A big boost to DH not to have to drive
Family that loves Disney as much as I do!
The Crab Rangoon Sushi at Kona Café

Going again in 2 months! Will post new favs then!

Ya know what was really quite good (and bad for you) was the Fantasyland Pot Roast Mac n Cheese, also the strawberry short cake next to that, and the Mini No Way Jose Sundae (not as good as B&C but sufficed) at the Main St Ice Cream shop. Seafood Mac at Columbia House is good as well IMO.

I keep missing the Buffalo Chicken Mac n Cheese at DHS-it always closes too early.

I've been going for over 30 years since my son was 3. It's been fun to watch as he's grown up and how he still has the same delight with the world that he did then. I love going to HS and watching the little kids do the jedi training, so cute and they have so much fun. I love walking around WS in Epcot and just enjoying the different countries and their food and their drinks. I spend hours just looking in the shops at MK, always something different. I love going on the trails at AK and hoping to see a tiger. I'm going during F&G this year and I spend hours and hours just looking at the different flowers and enjoying the food booths. I love disney food, no matter where it's from, QS, TS, Food cart, love it all since I didn't have to cook it. I love sitting and watching the fish at the living seas. Saw the lion king show for the first time ever in Sept., how amazing was that? Loved it. I love watching the silly street performers. I saw devine for the first time ever at AK in Sept. how exciting. I love the silly jokes the boat drivers make on the Jungle Cruise. I love going to tea at the Grand Floridian and pretending I'm grown up. I love going to lunch/dinner at the Brown Derby and pretending I'm grown up. I love riding the Carousel of Progress, hokey as it is. I love riding the mine train and pretending I'm a kid. I love watching tinker bell fly over the castle and pretending I'm a kid. I love sitting by the pool and not pretending I'm anything. I love Disney World, always have and always will.

Our favorite positives from our trip in January....
1.Magic Bands worked awesome!!!
2.My daughters face when she saw the castle for the very first time. She didn't even care about the crane, to her it was still amazingly beautiful.
3.Having our fp+ set for our most favorite rides, knowing we would for sure get to ride them with no wait at all basically, at the busiest parts of the day!
4.Churros. I love my churros, especially for breakfast with a coffee. ;)
5.FOF parade is absolutely amazing, we made sure to watch it twice.
6.Every CM we encountered was friendly and helpful, and I can't even tell you how thrilled my daughter was to be called Princess everywhere she went.

I've been going since the first year it's been open, and though I've slowed the time between trips, the one positive about WDW is, it's still magic.

I am so excited about our trip right now! I cannot wait to see the Festival of Fantasy parade. I had never put any thought into seeing it at all, but after all of the great comments about it I am super excited! I googled it and I think my kids will love it.

Isn't it amazing that even after 30 years of trips, there are still new things to see and do?! And even if we've done something 50 times, the old and familiar become fresh again when we experience them with someone for the first time. I love seeing Disney through my children's eyes.

I forgot to mention in my previous post that DD is finally tall enough to ride the 'big' rides this trip!

I love that their is still some unexpected and random pixie dust from Disney. An example...
We were leaving Animal Kingdom one day during our September trip. We were hot, tired, cranky and covered in melted Mickey Bars. All I wanted to do was get back to our hotel (Wilderness Lodge) and take a shower and a nap. On our way to our bus we were stopped by a very pleasant woman with a clip board who asked us what resort we were staying at. I assumed she was taking a survey but when I answered "Wilderness Lodge", she told us that she was offering us a "Magical Ride Home" courtesy of the WDW Bus Operations. She then proceeded to bring us to bring us to a private WDW bus which was located 5 feet away (instead of at the end of the "bus depot") and we were given a private bus ride back to Wilderness Lodge. It was AWESOME!!! There was no waiting for other people, no stopping at other resorts or anything. It was literally door to door private service. It was so unexpected and Magical.

PS- They definitely didn't pick us because we were the "prettiest" family. Trust me...we were a mess. My kids (4 and 2 at the time) were literally COVERED in melted Mickey bars and we were all wearing bits and pieces of their ice cream. Somehow that made it all the more Magical. They didn't care that we were all a hot mess. LOL

There's always that smell......of chocolate.

When asked if she wanted to go to Universal this time, my 12 year old daughter whispered in my ear "I want to go to Disney World so I can be a little kid again" and I whispered back "Me too."

It's all about the Magic, baby!

Some of my favorite things that happened on my last trip:

  • How excited the kids were
  • Little towel Lightning McQueen in our Cars Suite
  • The little Cozy Cone pool by the Cars section - it was practically empty, and felt like our own private pool
  • The Lanterns in Fantasy Land at dusk
  • Star Wars Days!!!
  • The Sci-Fi Dine-in was awesome! And the CMs were so wonderful. We had a party of 10, and five of our party were really, really late, but the CMs were so nice and kept our reservation until everyone had arrived. I will forever be grateful to them - they really started the trip to a great start. Plus, the inside of the restaurant was amazing!
  • My husband and daughter making funny poses for the ride photos
  • The first look at the Castle down Main Street! So beautiful!
  • The Pirate's League - the kids looked so cute in their pirate gear!
  • My kids all loved Epcot and it was their favorite park - and it's mine too!
  • I think my older son fell a little in love with Belle in Enchanted Tales.
  • And last but not least, sitting by the window in Cinderella's Castle, watching the fireworks outside while we ate dinner on our last night in Disney.
So Magical! I can't wait for the next trip!

(NJ! Woo!)

My kids went nuts for characters this last trip and we met such nice people waiting in those lines, even in the peak of the heat. (Also helpful: Grey Goose Citron Slushes. LOL!) It threw off my schedule a little bit, I can't lie, but FP+ was a big help there and we managed to get to everything we wanted to do!

I'll start I love the snacks all over Disney, School bread, Dole whips, Mickey bars anything from France!!! Looking for new things to try this trip too!

I know people have been throwing recommendations at you, but I just had to chip in that I have a very serious problem wherein I'm in love with the churros. :D The ones in the carts, mind you. For some reason the ones at Mexico in EPCOT just aren't the same! I made my husband run around two streets at HS once just to find me churros! To be fair, I thought I'd seen them just up the street we were on, and when he returned 15 mins later he said I'd been wrong but he went to find them anyway. Times like that I remember why I married him!

Something positive: My BFF, who has been an annual passholder for probably her whole life, saw the FoF parade for the first time on our last trip. Somehow she'd managed to miss the new Maleficent steampunk dragon, and when she saw it her eyes lit up like crazy. It was very impressive, I have to say. My whole group were ages 18-29 and we all loved that parade. Me and the youngest got so excited we ended up standing up even though we were beat and waving wildly to every float.

I also love the new videos they take at 7DMT and ToT. I had a Memory Maker last time and the video from ToT makes me fall out of my chair laughing-- literally the first time! One of my friends has the funniest cringing look on his face, while the other one and I look so excited and happy! lol And we all laughed when we discovered a girl on the 7DMT in the video who looked like she was taking a selfie.

Oh! And putting a little effort in with the characters has thus far helped me have fun experiences a few memorable times. Pluto got us in trouble at Ohana by stealing some decor and shoving it into our hands for a photo, and his handler came to scold us! We blamed it all on him and Pluto just danced around like it was hilarious. Bad puppy! Not all my friends were super keen on a character breakfast, but they all left saying how fun and amazing it was.

Things at the parks are still great! The new queue for Peter Pan is supposed to be amazing! Also, Festival of Fantasy is the best parade they've ever done. Enjoy the sights and have a great time!

You are so right! FOF is amazing. I was lucky enough to spend three days in the MK last summer and I had to see it all three times. Watching it from the train platform for the first time as those floats came down Main Street with the castle in the background and that wonderful music drawing it all closer to me is one of the most magical Disney experiences I have ever had.
