Jodie- sorry to hear about your tooth. Glad you got a dentist appt for tomorrow.
Congrats on Mike's promotion! :cool1:

Well.......
I finally got GREAT NEWS!!!!!
DH's job is going PERMANENT!!!!!!! :cool1: :dance3: :yay: :woohoo: :cheer2: :dancer: :dancer: party: :rockband: :jumping1:
He just got offered the job permanently from his boss/CEO late this afternoon!! There was quick talk of it on Monday w/ boss and DH, but not offered on Monday, it was kinda a tease on Monday. He is offered $2,000 less than what he asked for originally, but that's ok, we'll survive. It's still all good!! :) DH will be on their payroll as of Wed of next week. He is on the temp payroll til Tues.

So it is finally official!!
Gee, it took 5 months to go permanent, couldn't go any quicker,ya think?
Now I can officially start planning a UO/WDW vacation!!:cool1: :dance3: :woohoo:

Thank you all so much for your prayers and thoughts throughout these past 5 months, it was very appreciated!!!:thanks: :disrocks:
I was kinda on wits end with all this and I was ready to go over there and slap this guy around :headache: It was so emotionally draining on me and DH (mostly me).

THank you all!!! :flower3:

Rose, that is GREAT news! :cool1:

I started planning our next camping trip. Yes, we camp and we don't have one of those 100,000 campers. We ride 4 wheelers and dirt bikes (actually, dh was only a year away from pro earlier in his life). Our girls have all been riding dirt bikes since they were 5 years old. . . riding bicycles without training wheels since 3. . . and now they have 4 wheelers. DD15 rides a dirt bike, DD's 11 & 4 ride 4 wheelers, dh rides FAST dirt bikes and your truly rides a big pis%$ed off 4 wheeler. We have a hauler that converts to a camper with 2 queen size beds, but alas, no shower or bathroom. It is heated and air conditioned though. So I only go camping if there are nice bathroom and shower facilities. We've reserved our campsite for June 12 - 16. . . Father's Day weekend. My dh can ride until his butt can't take it no more. I don't get sore butt, my wheeler rides like a Caddy (plus I have some extra padding of my own - and no, it's not charmin stuffed down my pants!). Last time we went camping, I lost 12 pounds in 4.5 days. . . we usually only eat 2x a day and we get TONS of exercise. . . walk to the bathroom, walk to the showers, walk to the laundry, all the work to keep up camp, not to mention all the riding. It's funny. . . my dd8 will ride hell-bent all day through sand, mud, water, dirt, be filthy & muddy helmet to boots, hop off her wheeler and demand I take her immediately to the showers because she's just got to wash her hair:dance3:

So anyway, it's tons of fun and such a wonderful, wholesome family getaway. . . . we pray together. . . play together. . . stay together. Any other dirt biking, 4 wheeling, NASCAR fans out there?? (I know, I know, can you say redneck??)

I totally understand your stress. . . my dh's ability to work in the winter is totally dependant on the weather. . . um, we live in Illinois. . . . 70 degrees one day, frigid ice storm the next as you well know and understand.

Excellent news about your dh's job!!!!!! Not enough happy dances to celebrate that kind of relief, right?!?! So happy for your family :woohoo:

Stopped by to say hi to all the homies and say my eye is doing a little better and swelling is going down slowly and DW is doing a little better but her mother is acting like stranger toward DW since she was told the home she lived in with DW's grandmother will be turned over to her and is acting like she is better than everyone and to beat it all the house is a dump .
well enough venting for me and if I don't get back on tonight everyone have a great evening.

I love Madeline Kahn!
I don't know this movie, but I do remember her in Young Frankenstein, History of the World Part 1(even tho parts of it were raunchy), and Blazing Saddles. "I'm tired, tired of playing the game ...." -from Blazing Saddles. :rotfl2:
Rose...this is from the movie Clue. It's a great movie and is pretty funny...in a "camp" kind of way...plus there's a great cast! Here's the link to the IMDB page: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0088930

I would definately check it out. I'm going to get the DVD soon!

and thank you mr todd for getting me hooked on another game.

chgo has the high tax on the cigs. i think it is about $10 a pack there but no one buys smokes in the city, they go elsewhere.

wisconsin upped their tax another buck jan 1st on the smokes.
now they come to illinois, lake county to stock up. marboro lights are the same here as there for you todd. ( lake county does not have the high tax cook does.)

can't smoke anywhere in illinois but your home and yard and car but you can drive to wisconsin and smoke in the resturants there.....
Mac...which game did you try? I warned you the games were addictive.

The fact you can't smoke anywhere and society looks down on you are a few good reasons that I'm finally going to try to quit.

i'm scared of the kitty

rose - fantastic:cheer2: such a long wait for you

wendy - we camp in a tent, last time i insisted on a electrical hookup so i could bring an electic skillet for breakfast...i've had it snow, not a treat when all you've got between you & the cold, wet ground is a sheet of plastic & a sleeping bag. Still, i treaure the time we spent with our older 2 DSs, it was the only way I could afford to take them anywhere during the lean years

metro - Tim Curry was very good in that flick too...almost as good as in Rocky Horror...let's do the time warp again:dance3:

off to finish watching the Pens game

Hey Homies!!!
Just in for a minute as I have to go to town and get stuff for a birthday party that Jacob is going to tomorrow night.

Jodie, I'm so sorry about your tooth! I know you must hate that--I would! It's a shame that the dental work didn't last longer than it did...especially as expensive as it is!

Rose, that's GREAT news!!!! :dance3: :woohoo: :cheer2: :cool1: :yay: :woohoo: :flower3: :3dglasses :goodvibes

Tracie, you know they had gone up on those 7 day tickets and then went back down, but now $79.95! WOW! Maybe this means it's not going to be too crowded this summer.... I've already bought all my tickets, but more would be nice.....

Barb, I saw that story about the mom selling her son's car this morning. I think the headline was "Meanest Mom in the World Sells Son's Car". They said that the car was sold already, but she would keep running the add for the feedback. You know how many moms wish they had the guts to do something like that?

Lori, so your mom and dad are getting back together.... if it works out, it could be a really good thing ya know! I don't know them, and I may be wrong, but it sounds good....

Mac, what do you think Katie's new tag should be???? Maybe: I don't have crabs, but I can teach you about them.....:rolleyes1

Todd, I have practiced self-control and haven't opened those games you posted.....I can't or I might not do anything else.....

Lawrence, good to hear that your eye is doing better!

Hey Janet, Tricia, Mike, Jennifer, Wendy, Marcie...did I forget anyone?

Wow, I had forgotten about Romper Stompers. I had some too!

You have to stop and think about all the kids and parents it affected. They now have to go to school one more day at the end of the year. All afterschool sports are automatically cancelled when there is no school. So now you have not only the home highschool but also all the schools that were competing against us in track, basketball, hockey or whatever that now have to reschedule. Then there's all the afterschool clubs, plus all the folks who do adult ed.

Can I join the Romper Stomper club? I had them as well! And yeah, I guess I didn't think about all the stuff you said, but still, sometimes you have to appreciate a good prank. Seems like these days kids can't do anything "fun" without it being a major thing? I realize this is too much but it does show some creativity!

Sharon, I swear, some kids don't realize what they post on My Space and Face Book can be used to incriminate them. Funny, but not too bright!

Yes, this is the amazingly stupid part of the whole prank! I'm just amazed at some of the kids my son IM's - looking at their My Space/Face Book pages, you just have to wonder how they'd feel if their mom saw it. And you have to wonder why their mom hasn't seen it? :confused3

I processed an application for life insurance at work the other day for a 19 year old. In the medical questions, it asks how if and how often you drink alcohol. He'd filled in "3-4 times a week". Um, I'm sorry, but isn't that illegal? Don't you think if you were the agent filling out the application for him, you might recommend he put down "never"? DUH!

Can I share my some good news? Seems we've had a lot of bad news lately so I wasn't sure if I should post that Mike's promotion finally came through. Yippee. He totally deserves it. Even though the raise is crap, he's a really good fit for the position, and I'm proud of him.

And, we booked a cruise today. Folks turn 60 this summer, and wanted to do a cruise. We're on RCCI's Mariner of the Seas. Someone here has done Royal Caribbean, right? We've cruised, but not on RCCI yet. If anyone has words of advice or tips specific to RCCI, I'd love to hear them.

Congrats Mike! More money for the cruise!!

And yeah, I'm one who's been on RCCI. We were on the Voyager of the Seas, which is a sister ship to the Mariner. Can I ask what cabin you guys have? (class/location at least if not exact cabin number). If you'd like to see my pics, I can post a link. I did awhile back, but it might be more interesting for you now since the ships are pretty identical. I'd be glad to answer any specific questions!

Johnny Rockets - eh! Skip the time and the calories.
Portofino's (I think) - the pay restaurant. We thought this was definitely worth the extra $$ and the experience. I'd recommend it.

We went to Labadee instead of the private island you're going to. I know they have 2 different ones they use depending on the itinerary.

Hang on to your hats people. I am sitting here with a glass of wine because I am celebrating.

That's right CELEBRATING!

My mom called a little bit ago and Carol is out of surgery. The surgeon was "very pleased" with the outcome.

Tricia - I'm so happy for you and Carol and your whole family. See - all our prayers are doing something! Best of luck as she continues through this hard time, but for now, :dance3:

My daughter works part time at the local convenience store here in Maine while she is going to college. She said a pack of Marlboros goes for around $5.50 and a pack of Merits is $6.50.

When I was in the Army over in Saudi Arabia during the first Persian Gulf war, I operated a mobile PX (kind of a traveling 7-11)! We sold cigarettes to the soldiers, and without all the taxes, they cost 85 cents a pack or $8.50 a carton! Hard to believe here, these days!

winter is returning to us in the midwest.

i watched the weather channel.

3-5 inches tonight. Sigh!

My ONLY complaint about our hotel room in Nashville (well, Franklin, Nashville 'burbs) is that the door *barely* cleared the toilet. You had to swing open the bathroom door, step in and around the toilet, then swing the bathroom door shut before you could step in front of the toilet.

We've stayed in a couple hotels with bathrooms like that. And as Barb said, ones where you couldn't open/close the door with the bath mat down and had to freeze your toes going in at night! Or ones (especially in cheap hotels) that had no separate heat, and if you wanted to keep the door closed at night (we usually don't bring a nightlight, and leave the bathroom light on with the door just open a tiny bit for light), then it would be like 10 degrees in there in the morning!

Barb - How bout that air fare story?????

Okay, help me out here folks! You were all waiting for the Southwest fares. I already booked my Midwest stuff, but wanted to see if by chance this would have been a much better deal, so I checked carefully right at 10 and 11 (not sure if it was 11 Eastern or Central time). There didn't seem to be any difference in the fares between then, earlier in the morning, and a few days earlier? :confused3 Is this because I was looking at March, and those dates were already out? Or was there some sale code I needed to have or download? Thanks for future reference! And I want to hear your story Barb!

Well.......
I finally got GREAT NEWS!!!!!
DH's job is going PERMANENT!!!!!!!
So it is finally official!!
Gee, it took 5 months to go permanent, couldn't go any quicker,ya think?
Now I can officially start planning a UO/WDW vacation!!:

So glad for you Rose! I also feel like FINALLY, so I can believe you do! Let us know how your trip planning goes!

So anyway, it's tons of fun and such a wonderful, wholesome family getaway. . . . we pray together. . . play together. . . stay together. Any other dirt biking, 4 wheeling, NASCAR fans out there??

Well, we don't qualify as the dirt biking, etc. type, but we are campers! Surprising that you have queen beds and air and not a bathroom! Even in our tiny popup we have a bathroom. Yeah, it's the kind you have to empty yourself, but it does have a shower that you can run out to septic if they have it at the campground. We pretty much always don't bother and just shower there, but I couldn't live without being able to go to the bathroom without going somewhere else at night! And I already made all my camping reservations for next year - everything here is 11 months out and if you want electricity, you'd better book at exactly 11 months. Didn't get it for one of our trips because I was a week too late!

I know. . .this stuff is getting crazy. . .what are we going to do?? I can't afford to quit my job and home school:confused3

There was a young high school student caught with a gun in his locker last year. . he was arrested and prosecuted, but what if. . . .

We live in a small community with high property taxes, high cost of living, high everything, and we live here BECAUSE of the school system and we want to raise our kids in a small community. It just doesn't matter where you live at all. . . . crazy knows no boundaries.:sad2:

My kids would love to home school. They are both so bored but there is no way I could home school. They would drive me nuts. But you're right, no where is safe any more. There have been times I was tempted to pull them out and keep them safe at home with me.

Yep...you move to an area to give you child the best, and there always seems to be 1 kid 'lost' out there... Maybe this kid should have counseling? He probably needs it if he lost his Dad just 4 yrs. ago. Maybe he and Mom don't have a good/close relationship...which, I believe is SO important for kids to have with their parent(s) these days...maybe stuff like that wouldn't happen? :confused3

On another note....here's a story about a good Mom..stickin' to her guns ;) It's about a woman who is selling her son's car. The only rule she had was no drinking and no drugs (or something like that). Well, she found a bottle under the front seat, and now she had put a 'for sale' ad in the paper and her son wasn't too happy!!! Good for her: http://abclocal.go.com/wpvi/story?section=news/bizarre&id=5879561

It is so sad that there are no safe communities any more.

What a great story about that mom. I bet that kid was mortified!

Goodness gracious, 700 pages! Wow.

I was so bummed today ... a few years ago, I was in a boating accident. One of the consequences was that I broke a tooth in half. Today of all days, the cap decided to come off. So, I call my dentist who I really don't even like very much. The receptionist was all "I can get you in on 1/31."

I'm all "Thanks anyway, I'll just have to find someone else. This is one of my front teeth, and I'm not waiting 3 weeks."

She's all, "Oh, OK then, how is 3:15 tomorrow?" :rolleyes1

Cripes. If I had any guts, I'd smile and post the pic here. I already have a snaggle tooth. This is on just the opposite side of my snaggle tooth. I spent the whole 2nd half of the day at work talking with my hand over my mouth. Mike says I just evened things out. I am mortified. Thankfully, I have my friends in a box to chat with!

Man can we yak or what????

Sorry bout your tooth. Stinkin dentist. Amazing how that opening showed up all of a sudden!

OH!!!!

The 7 day 2 park tickets are down to $79.95 now

Just put 5 in the cart for $431.50 TOTAL!!!!!

:woohoo: :woohoo:

Wow! So when are you going again?

i know exactly how you feel jodie.
i had to go to the dentist on tuesday as 2 of my crowns came off........

in august 02, i was rear ended when i was at a stop light and damaged 11 teeth. all capped and it was long and painful.....

so from one former snaggle puss to another, i feel your pain.......

i need to get 2 sets of those.
thanks for the heads up!

OUCH!

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

nothing sez it better than crabs:rolleyes1 :lmao:

the gift that keeps on giving
While we're on the subject....

Sounds like lots of fun!

Tricia & I are both Nascar fans. Who is your favorite driver?

And speaking of having to book right on time, I was cleaning off the kitchen counter today and found DS' Road Test information. It said you can book your road test online, up to 11 weeks in advance. Since he wants to go in 8 weeks, I figured I'd check and see what worked with our schedule. Well, he's eligible as of March 2, and when I input the entire month of March, it basically just laughed at me! You want to take a road test somewhere within an hour of Green Bay? Should have booked 3 weeks ago moron!

I spent 2 hours looking up all the possible little cities - evidently if you live in the boonies of WI, there's no problem booking, but NOTHING near here. I could find nothing on Fridays (well, that wasn't 4 hours away), which is the only day I'm off. So I finally booked him on a Thursday (will have to make up hours and he'll have to miss school) morning, down just north of Milwaukee! :confused3 And they had exactly 2 time slots left for the whole month - one at 9 and one at 9:20. That's it! Mac - want to drive up and meet me for breakfast while I wait?! ;)

I'm just amazed! I'd heard from people you had to book early, but I didn't know it all booked up each day, 11 weeks out, within minutes. I guess now I do for the next kids. Why not add more testers? I just don't get it! Now he'd BETTER not fail the test, because it'll be another 2 months before I can get him in to test again!

Sorry your mil is acting that way. Maybe she is just having a hard time dealing so shes' not behaving very well. I hope your dw is doing better.

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

that sure does go with the joke i emailed you.

i would email the joke to others here as it is not a dis approved joke...:rolleyes1

I want!

Mac...which game did you try? I warned you the games were addictive.

The fact you can't smoke anywhere and society looks down on you are a few good reasons that I'm finally going to try to quit.

Umm, and don't you think you should quit because those stupid things are destroying your health? Have you ever see anyone die of lung cancer? Please quit for you too.

:scared1: Now where is the TAG FAIRY???? They were a gift :lmao: !!!

And they look so good on you! :rotfl2:
