Nope. That was my oldest sister, Susan. The birthday cake was for her daughter, my niece, Melanie.

SIL is Donna, Brad's sister... the mom of Idiot Nephew (Noah) who just got married a couple of times.

oh, okay...gotcha now :thumbsup2

Lori,
I've been meaning to ask...during my ketchuping, did i read your Dad is back with the ex? :scratchin ...or am I reading wrong? :confused3

Oh, fyi everyone....(case I go MIA on Monday nites)..... new schedule is out...Mondays at 6pm (with exeception of 2nd game at 5:10) is new soccer schedule. Paired up with harder teams....not expecting to go undefeated this time....should be good experiences tho

I've talked with Mom a couple of times today and Carol once. She had an okay night. Got sick once, but that isn't unusual for her (or my mom) after anesthesia. She is feeling, in her words, "like she was attacked by a shark", but Mom says she looks much better than she thought she would this morning. She hasn't eaten anything yet, but she has been up twice and used the bathroom (I know TMI, but after surgery the bodily functions are a big deal). They are going to walk her around the floor a few times today. Her doctor said she has to stay for a full 24 hours post surgery for "pain management", but after that they will decide if/when to send her home.

That is great news about Carol. Hopefully she will get to go home soon and be on the road to recovery.

And bathrooms. Don't forget bathrooms. I have a good toilet shot from our trip to Nashville. Since I don't seem to be getting around to a Trippie with everything else that is going on, here goes.

My ONLY complaint about our hotel room in Nashville (well, Franklin, Nashville 'burbs) is that the door *barely* cleared the toilet. You had to swing open the bathroom door, step in and around the toilet, then swing the bathroom door shut before you could step in front of the toilet. Here's what I mean:

Hotel8.jpg

:headache:

That bathroom is rediculous.

oh, okay...gotcha now :thumbsup2

Well, in a way. Dad is getting back together with the first ex, my mother. I have told hime so many times that he is jumping from the frying oan in to the fire but he just wouldn't listen. It is going to be a very sad day when she decides again that it isn't what she wants and leaves him because she will loose her entire family over it. And it will do my dad in. She will be a very lonely woman.

Playing teams better than you is how you improve. And it sounds like Bubba handles sports well and doesn't let it upset him. Good luck.

This is the next town/school district over from us.... (appx. 7min. down the road)..... sad........

http://readingeagle.com/article.aspx?id=75504

...a little too close to home for me.... :sad2:

I know. . .this stuff is getting crazy. . .what are we going to do?? I can't afford to quit my job and home school:confused3

There was a young high school student caught with a gun in his locker last year. . he was arrested and prosecuted, but what if. . . .

We live in a small community with high property taxes, high cost of living, high everything, and we live here BECAUSE of the school system and we want to raise our kids in a small community. It just doesn't matter where you live at all. . . . crazy knows no boundaries.:sad2:

Yep...you move to an area to give you child the best, and there always seems to be 1 kid 'lost' out there... Maybe this kid should have counseling? He probably needs it if he lost his Dad just 4 yrs. ago. Maybe he and Mom don't have a good/close relationship...which, I believe is SO important for kids to have with their parent(s) these days...maybe stuff like that wouldn't happen? :confused3

On another note....here's a story about a good Mom..stickin' to her guns ;) It's about a woman who is selling her son's car. The only rule she had was no drinking and no drugs (or something like that). Well, she found a bottle under the front seat, and now she had put a 'for sale' ad in the paper and her son wasn't too happy!!! Good for her: http://abclocal.go.com/wpvi/story?section=news/bizarre&id=5879561

:scared1: :scared1: :scared1: Not the health pictures!

Is that anything like the "Blood on the Highway" film they showed us in Drivers Ed?

So, we've got a lot of people on this thread who are dieting or quitting smoking? Are we going to be the Official Cranky Thread? :confused3

Is that the "poop a lot" diet?

Hey, I haven't mentioned poop in awhile. Didn't want to lose my Poop Lady title. Or did I? :confused3

all this talk about dieting and smoking is making me want to go out and buy a dozen candy bars and a carton of smokes..........

tricia, you will always be our poop lady.
you wear that title well.

Oh, Mac. Did I mention that SIL and her hubby are moving to Chicago? From Orlando to Chicago with SIL dragging her heels the whole way. She is SO against the move that they are keeping the house in Orlando "just in case" it doesn't work out and they can move back. His company wants him based in Chicago near their headquarters, but he travels 75% of the time so SIL says why does it matter where his home is.

The weather reports should make things VERY interesting. They are supposed to move in a couple of weeks. :rolleyes1

what part are they moving to?
within the city or the burbs?
moving to chgo in the winter time is not good at all.
rental times in the city are generally may 1st and oct 1st. that is when leases are up.

carol will get better sooner than expected.
she's a fighter.

 don't blame her...the ONLY reason I would move to Chicago area (again) would be cuz mac lives there  Been there, done that, please extend my sympathies to your SIL...btw, is this same SIL who had the 'teenage' birthday cake at your house?

move here and you will never be bored.
i put the fun in dysfunctional

:headache: :headache: uh...yeah...that sux!!!!

Kinda like my complaint about the bathroom at HRH.... door was similar to your pic and you couldn't leave the bathMAT (which is thinner than a towel) on the floor cuz the door didn't clear! :confused3

i have never had a room at hrh with a bathroom that size.
i would have requested a move if i encountered that when i checked in.

Nope. That was my oldest sister, Susan. The birthday cake was for her daughter, my niece, Melanie.

i was wondering the same thing.

wendy, i have home schooled and it's not a lot of fun.

i prefer my kids to be in the school system than learn at home.
but, sometimes it just has to go that way.

Hi all-

Sorry I havne't been here much. Still feeling under the weather a little. Went out today to Target. Guess who I bumped into there, my mom!
We get along, just she is very controlling at times. Anyways, she was shopping during her lunch hour from work.

I can't seem to catch-up here.

Tricia- So glad Carol's surgery was a sucess! :dance3:  :cool1: :woohoo: Hope she will be able ot go home soon!
Someone in your family is moving to Chicago? Where in Chicago? I live in the northwest suburbs of Chicago(in Schaumburg,Il.) I live about an hour or so south of Mac (depending on traffic)

Barb- I didn't get to readup about something happened in a school dist. near you. Hope all is ok. Hope Bubba is ok, he got hurt lately with soccer? I'msory I haven't read up on that.

Hi to all! I really have to run.

Take care everyone.

Almost forgot, happy 700 pages!!:cheer2:  :dance3: :cool1:

i couldn't resist jumping in on the old "bottle under the car seat, not mine" excuse:rolleyes1. Gotta love the "i just carry an open bottle in my car; don't intend to drink it; since i'm underage in my home state:upsidedow " Perhaps i'm being too harsh & it's just a security blanket.

since when is your relationship with your child/i.e. afraid they won't "like you" more important than their morals, safety, your insurance rates sky-rocketing;) ? heck, most teens switch who they like akin to t-shirts anyway.:confused3 i'll take respect (or fear) any day as opposed to being buddies with my DSs

tricia - glad carol got up today, big step indeed! I cannot believe how pretty that beef wellington came out. I've never sprung for that cut of meat; it'll be hard to top for a weekday meal.

lori - hope the other shoe doesn't drop for your dad, sounds like it's hard to sort it all out, can't be easy for you "the child" either.

barb - that's what i thought too about the Xray; assume it gets better all the time.

my potty standards are lower...while i expect a deluxe resort to have a decent bathroom, hopefully with a magnifying makeup mirror; in all the other hotels...as long as it's clean & the grout is too; i'm content

mac - if u throw in a dozen of Krispy Kremes, i'm there:3dglasses they closed all the ones around Pittsburgh - victims of over expansion or atkins diet; not sure which

Goodness gracious, 700 pages! Wow.

Barb, that is a great story about the mom selling her teenage son's car. :thumbsup2

Tricia, glad to hear that Carol is doing OK right now. :goodvibes

I was so bummed today ... a few years ago, I was in a boating accident. One of the consequences was that I broke a tooth in half. Today of all days, the cap decided to come off. So, I call my dentist who I really don't even like very much. The receptionist was all "I can get you in on 1/31."

I'm all "Thanks anyway, I'll just have to find someone else. This is one of my front teeth, and I'm not waiting 3 weeks."

She's all, "Oh, OK then, how is 3:15 tomorrow?" :rolleyes1

Cripes. If I had any guts, I'd smile and post the pic here. I already have a snaggle tooth. This is on just the opposite side of my snaggle tooth. I spent the whole 2nd half of the day at work talking with my hand over my mouth. Mike says I just evened things out. I am mortified. Thankfully, I have my friends in a box to chat with!

Barb -

Evening homies! I thought I would share a clip of one of my favorite actresses in one of my favorite movies.

Sadly...she's no longer with us but I will always remember her like this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=92IkddsjtAA&feature=related
I love Madeline Kahn!
I don't know this movie, but I do remember her in Young Frankenstein, History of the World Part 1(even tho parts of it were raunchy), and Blazing Saddles. "I'm tired, tired of playing the game ...." -from Blazing Saddles. :rotfl2:

i'm tempted myself, been mulling it over all day (dh would kill me)

imo, if they don't have a "use-by" or activation date; how can u go wrong (unless you'll be going more than 3 X year - or twice/year w/a bogo ap - if they offer it again & I recall my cyphering lol)

think all the guys of a certain age luved Madeline Kahn & Terri Garr:) ; i thought Ms Kahn was a better comedian & her singing - so funny. Young Frankenstein is a classic

jodie have u tried the glue they sell in the pharmacy (not super glue; the dental stuff - works well for a quick fix. ps ur dentist is a butthead:headache:
