well, maybe there was some good music in the 80's.......
so i take back the first statement

So what you're saying is that black and white TV's aren't the first thing you think of either? ;)

Tricia - loved the pics! I am SO jealous of picking out a Christmas tree in a light jacket! That was the main thing that jumped out at me from the pics! And :rotfl: on the bathroom story. That's one thing DH won't even think of messing with!

Mac - do the 3 Macs in your house count you personally? :lmao: We got the Macbook right before our Disney trip, but now they want a Mac desktop. Sorry - that's about my extent of knowledge on the subject!

i have the imac. the big screen one.
one son has ibook and another son has power book.

mine is kewl.
no tower, nothing like that.

it's all in the monitor.

beavis and butthead

the only thing i can remember from the 80's was bad music and mad ball.

My memories from the 80's are big hair and shoulder pads. I'm hoping the big hair comes back! :lmao:

There wasn't much to remember with the disco music, maybe John Travolta in the awful "Staying Alive" or Patrick Swazey in "Dirty Dancing".

Marcie
You have sons about the same age as my son. Have you seen the "Think Geek catalog or been to the on-line site. They have lots of gifts for $10 or less. I found James a few stocking stuffers and a t-shirt. They have lots of techie type stuff.

When I think 80s, I think:

Nintendo
Super Mario Bros
Spaceballs
Styx
Thundercats
Voltron
TMNT
Alf
Michael Jackson (when he was still cool)
Oregon Trail
BTTF
He-Man
She-Ra
GI Joe

I'll stop there.

Mac - I'm so out of it that I don't know the difference between the ibook and the power book, or what a tower is! Can you tell I leave the computer buying up to my husband?

Sharon - not sure if it's the same, but we get a similar catalog. They had a lot of funny t-shirts I considered getting them, like "Varsity Physics" and "I'll try to be nicer if you try to be smarter!" I don't actually do stockings for them (and never have). That's always been grandma's job - she sends a bag of stuff for each kid. It's always little fun stuff - never anything of any value. That stuff would be wrapped. But my parents go to a lot of garage sales and she has fun all year picking stuff for them (and even us too actually). Now that the boys are older she sends one big bag and I sort it out!

Okay, I'm going to add in my thoughts to yours in red:

When I think 80s, I think:

Nintendo &
Super Mario Bros: Guess I missed this being in college and the military - I don't think of Nintendo until my kids started playing it in the late 90's
Spaceballs
Styx: Absolutely!
Thundercats: Not familiar with this?
Voltron
TMNT: Again, maybe I was just a bit too old to have paid attention to this.
Alf: Was that that long ago? I think more of Mork!
Michael Jackson (when he was still cool): My answer from the game!
Oregon Trail: Sorry, but I remember playing this back in the mid 70's!
BTTF: Again - absolutely!
He-Man
She-Ra: Another I don't know!
GI Joe: DH is a big GI Joe collector, so I think of him as being from the 60's because he originated in 1964 (like my husband!)

I'll stop there.

no Raven.....tryin' to ketchup is all....sometimes it seems that many posts to ketchup on.... :rotfl2:

What a crazy busy day yesterday was. Worked all day, went grocery shopping, stopped at the post office, did a few other errands. By the time I got home and put away the groceries, it was time for dinner and than off to a hockey game. When we got home I watched the Barbara Walters special and fell asleep before it was over!

Jim and I are going out to dinner tonight. Got any suggestions on restaurants for me?

I hate when that happens...you have a busy day and just want to relax & watch tv...then you miss what you wanted to watch :headache:

.......and, how did dinner go?? :confused3 Whatcha end up doin?

i'm thinking of going to the mall in the morning if it isn't too cold here.

i really need to buy cards to send out to the family.

last year i mailed my cards on christmas eve........

my brother mailed his new years eve to me.
it runs in the family

i am so looking forward to saturday.
if i don't go shopping, i'm gonna sleep until at least 6 in the morning.
woo hoo.......

it has been a long week for me.
work and home. both are full time jobs for me. :cool2:
