this is it, almost the weekend.
except for marcie, she gets to party hardy with her cheese and wine one day before us ;)

uh...and me...still have to work Saturday :guilty:

barb, that is fantastic news!!
you should do something special for bubba for all that hard work. you know, he was the MVP of the team.

Thank you.... I'm sorry...forgot to mention, Bubba did not play in goal last night. Half way thru the game, coach switches shifts, and he comes off the field. (I sit right behind their bench, so I can hear/see all that's going on).... Coach asked him if he wanted to play in goal, and he said 'no'. :confused3 Well, that prompted me to interrupt the conversation with his buddie's Mom (who was telling me about her wdw trip they just got back from) and ask what was going on. Apparently the ball he took in the side of his head just a few minutes before coming off the field, really hurt...as he had tears welling up in his eyes. I told him "There's no crying in soccer." I told him it was his decision, and let him and the coach work it out..... So, my stomach wasn't in knots...and the goalie that DID go in did fabulous!

So, sorry to say, mai boy wasn't the mvp, but he did contribute a lot since he's a starter on the defense.

our skool break starts dec 24 this year.
i should do a countdown for that.

Ours starts on Friday Dec. 21st with an early dismissal....then off till the 2nd. You can tell by my Christmas ticker how many days till Christmas Day.... is that close enuf?

Hi guys. I'm not going to be able to respond to all I have missed, computer keeps locking up on me so I am giving up. I will try to catch up tomorrow on a different computer.

Hey Lori! Get it figured out or get on a different computer. I missed you today. I missed me today too... but that's another story...

For me - IT'S THE WEEKEND! I don't work Fridays so I have 3 days without my meanie boss! So let's see, what's on the agenda? For tomorrow morning I get to sit home and wait for the plumber to come! Don't think I told you guys, but the toilet in our bathroom decided to start leaking from all around the base this morning. Since DH and I are both completely non-plumbing-inclined, I turned off the water and they're coming in the morning. Which means that if I need to go during the night, I have to use my kids' "super stinky" bathroom! :scared: Let me tell you, three boys in one bathroom is not a good thing!

Oh, plumbing. The stories I could tell. My husband can pull a toilet and have me holding the gear while he snakes a drain in under an hour.

My boys share a bathroom. Once every week or two I don my hazmat gear and hose it down. I don't want to think about the years ahead of me.

Ah yes....wimpy friend smart ;) Her scarf didn't freeze to her face and make an 'impression' :rolleyes1

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Wise words Grasshopper!

okay- it does not mater if this is not your usual team.

it has been all over the news how the stealers are going to beat new england sunday. total confidence and what not.....

so, who do you think will win?

please vote here-
i will keep a tally
but you gotta vote before saturday at 4 pm, so i can write them down. the game is sunday. :surfweb:

I say it will be a total smash mouth ,trash talking, and lots of contact, testoterone screaming ,honest to goodness brawl

the patriots....:thumbsup2

Oh...and HOW could I forget..... :headache:

Bubba's team won their game tonight....we are undefeated!!! :cheer2: Now, let me explain WHY this is a big, no, HUGE deal.....

Wow! This IS huge news! Way to go Exeter Eagles! :cheer2:  :cool1:

There's nothing wrong with being stuck in the 80s. :cool2:

What was that song... something about "she's still preoccupied with 1985"? I LOVED the line about "she was gonna shake her a$$ on the hood of Whitesnakes car". My now 19 y/o niece, who thought the song was great, asked me why I laughed at that line. Oh, you had to be there honey... :lmao:

nope just been under the weather and Dw has been driving me nuts to go the dr and I still won't go:rotfl2:

Oh, that is SUCH a guy thing!

I was born in NE Iowa. I was almost 22 before I found out you could leave.
There has always been this feud going on between Minn. and Ia. in that area. I have a friend that played hockey for Mankato State. I haven't been to Minnesota since another friend of mine pitched for the Twins in the World Series.

FIL has relative scattered all over Minnesota and Iowa (Davenport, maybe?). I've only been to Minnesota once, for Brad's 25th high school reunion. We flew into MSP, drove to Mankato, did the reunion, drove back to the airport. That's my only exposure to MN.

i think guys are just tougher than the females.

Tougher... or more ego driven... as in, I won't be defeated by some stupid virus... :rolleyes1

our skool break starts dec 24 this year.
i should do a countdown for that.

Joshua gets early release days on the 18th & 19th, then he is off from the 20th thru Jan 7th.

There's nothing wrong with being stuck in the 80's and talking like the 80's....but when you start dressing 80's.... :scared1: ...yeah, ya don't want to look stuck.... :sad2:

And.....I believe "jerk" or "butthead" is to mild a term for this guy....how about Jodie's ole fav..... "bunghole"? :thumbsup2 :rotfl:

(I miss Jodie..... :sad1: ....hope she comes back someday soon......)

Did you ever see the episode of What Not to Wear with that woman who WAS completely stuck in the 80s? She dressed in the same fashions and even had the same hairstyle and everything. Her daughters nominated her for the makeover. It was great. One of those funny and sweet episodes.

Bunghole is Jodie's name of affection for her sister... and I think her sister calls her Buttmunch in return.

I miss Jodie too. When was she supposed to be back from Florida? I hope she'll want to chat with us again soon. You guys help me over the rough spots. I'd like to think I can return the favor.

Hi everybody

What a crazy busy day yesterday was. Worked all day, went grocery shopping, stopped at the post office, did a few other errands. By the time I got home and put away the groceries, it was time for dinner and than off to a hockey game. When we got home I watched the Barbara Walters special and fell asleep before it was over!

Jim and I are going out to dinner tonight. Got any suggestions on restaurants for me? :) Hey Penny, whats your favorite restaurant? I think mine is Margaritas. The one on Brown St. I miss Cap Newicks. I also like the salad bar at Ruby Tues.

ding dong the witch is dead! which old witch? the wicked old witch! ding dong the wicked witch is dead......................

Penny!! Shame on you...j/k

Hi all-
I'm alive and well, just been very, very busy!!

Hi Rose! Good to hear from you.

shraon, on south main in south portland next to /attached to the howard johnson is a great mexican place!
we go there!

take exit 45 follow the signs for south main street, south portland on that connector rd go straight to the top, bear to the left and it is on the left. really good food.
the folks who own it own places in like metheun mass as well.

i haven't started christmas here yet.
no shopping, no card sending, heck, don't even have cards yet, no baking, no decorating, no tree up..........

Sounds like gift cards could be your friends. :thumbsup2

Man you guys are chatty this morning! Thought I was the only one off! :confused3

Well, believe it or not, the plumber actually came a few minutes early (before my 9-11 window) and was done in a half hour. Of course it still cost a bit over $200, but doesn't everything these days? I think that's the standard price for anything - problems with the heater, washer, MINOR car problem, etc. Nothing ever costs like $50 or $100 anymore. Otherwise it wouldn't be worth their time to come out!

Penny - I have to say the Pats too. Especially after last week's game. Anyone else watch that? :headache: If the Ravens had tried any harder to throw the game away I was on the verge of throwing something through the screen. Possibly my husband's head who was snoring away in bed after insisting we had to stay up and watch the end of the game. ;) Then when the game was over and I turned it off in disgust and wanted to go to sleep, he of course woke up and had to know what happened and turned the TV back on and had to watch the whole post-game analysis of everything he slept through!

105 days until Spring? I won't hold my breath! Maybe for Tricia and you southern folks, but I'll be happy if in 105 days we don't still have these walls of snow along our driveway!

Everyone sprinkle some pixie and/or mummy dust for DS14 who's been doing auditions for West Side Story for the last two weeks at the high school. He's had 4 callbacks, and knows he's not getting any kind of lead, but just wants to be in it in a minor role or even the ensemble. Cast should be posted tomorrow!

Wow Tricia - your kids get a LONG Christmas break. Ours is also after school gets out on the 21st (regular day on Friday) and back on Jan 2.

I don't know if not wanting to go to the doctor is as much a "guy" thing as a "not wanting to waste money" thing. It was one thing when the kids were little and always had ear infections, strep, etc. But these days no matter what, if the kids or DH or I go, you never get anything. You get told "take it easy and rest and drink fluids and use Tylenol". I can diagnose that myself. Back injury - same thing. Foot pain - same thing. It's just not worth dragging yourself over there, sitting in a room picking up various other diseases only to be told what you could figure out yourself!

Okay, that's as far back as I can go here so I'll have to stop and read back!

Okay guys, hey, I have the time, so it's my first attempt at multi-quoting! Hope it works! Bear with me!

I'll ask DH about the video....he's, um, busy, right now.....

Just finished getting my ornament ready to travels....had to give it a scarf since it's so cold here..... :rotfl:

Okay, am I the only one who wants to know what he's "busy" doing? :confused3

And be sure not to wrap the scarf over your ornament's mouth or it will freeze when it gets up to those northern climates! Although it's a balmy 28 today. I should get my rear outside and shovel the rest of the driveway (DH shoveled a path this morning, but there's still about half left). Ah, my kids are off early today - that's what teens are for, right? And my arm is STILL sore - don't want to mess that up any!

Oh...and HOW could I forget..... :headache:

Bubba's team won their game tonight....we are undefeated!!! :cheer2: Now, let me explain WHY this is a big, no, HUGE deal.....

Congrats to Bubba and his team! Bet that put those little munchkins in their place! :rotfl: But I know your feeling. We have those teams here "playing up". The "we're too cool to play in our age group" thing. Of course we have kids like that too. Always nice to beat them. So do you get anything for it? For years, our indoor soccer place gave out these dorky little trophies. Then they switched to t-shirts which I think are so much more practical and fun!

My boys share a bathroom. Once every week or two I don my hazmat gear and hose it down. I don't want to think about the years ahead of me!

My kids are old enough that I make them clean it, but that involves handing in some rags and Kaboom! and them spraying around randomly. At least they get out all the clothes and towels off the floor then and all the, um (how can I say this nicely?) urine-encrusted comic books off the floor!

I was thinking of these 80 words. Am I also the only one who still uses dorky or doofus? We actually use doofus a lot in our house, or the plural (not sure if this is a real word), "Doofi". However, it's usually in reference to my kids. As in "Stop being doofi and get in here". Doesn't that sound more genteel than "rotten, irritating brats"?

Back to writing Christmas cards! I'm up to the letter "P"!

Thought I would stop by and say hi to all you homies:grouphug:

Hi
wave.gif
Have a great weekend!

Hi guys - I had a :sad1: day at work today.
Jeez Louise...he's sounds like a real loser.

Hi guys. I'm not going to be able to respond to all I have missed, computer keeps locking up on me so I am giving up. I will try to catch up tomorrow on a different computer.

Hi Lori - hope you can post soon!

Bubba's team won their game tonight....we are undefeated!!! :cheer2: Now, let me explain WHY this is a big, no, HUGE deal....

Go Ryan! Go Eagles! :cheer2:
shraon, on south main in south portland next to /attached to the howard johnson is a great mexican place!
we go there!
Whats the name of it? I'll google it and see if they have a menu on-line.

I love West Side Story! The spring musical at DS's school is going to be Guys and Dolls. DS is the stage manager this time! Tell him I said good-luck!
Wow Tricia - your kids get a LONG Christmas break. Ours is also after school gets out on the 21st (regular day on Friday) and back on Jan 2.
Same here, heading back on the 2nd.

Oh wait, and speaking of the 80's:

We were playing a game last weekend that involved writing answers to questions and trying to match who said what. One of the questions asked what person or thing you thought most personified the 1980's.

Two of the answers (obviously not DH's or mine) from my children:

1. Black and white TV's
2. Hippies

Yeah, they're trying to make us feel older than we already are! :rotfl:

Here is where the school schedules confuse me. Our school starts back in early August so our kids get to take longer breaks during the year. They all go the same number of days, it's just broken up different. Wouldn't it benefit you guys more up there to have a shorter summer break and longer winter breaks? Wouldn't it benefit us more to have a longer summer break and shorter winter breaks? Our kids are sweating it out the first couple of weeks of school and your kids are slogging through the snow now. Doesn't make any sense to me. :confused3

Hey I'm here! I'm gonna attempt to catch up now.

can anyone go for a few days in oct?

I should be able to.

Why this wound up on the Fox station in Colorado, I'll never know. The report and hotels in the piece are all from the Atlanta area. Anyway, I am in no way a germ-phobe or anything, but... ewwwww...

 OH MY GOSH! .

Mac - why do you stay up so late? I can understand Lori because I think she's in a different time zone (I could be wrong!). But I know you're in my zone!

My uncle (and godfather) is in the process of moving to Celebration believe it or not! They're remodeling the house this year, but have told us we're welcome to stay (they have a guest apartment) once it's all done! Maybe that would reduce the cost enough to get it to fly with DH?

I stay up late because that is the only way I get any alone, peaceful time. I've been to tired this week to stay up late though. I do think Mac is in our time zone though, isn't she?

Woo Hoo! Now at least you and Stephen can go back. Leave the rest of them behind if they don't want to go.

Evening all...what a crappy Wednesday!

First....I got up late and was rushing around the bathroom. Damn near slipped but to break my fall, I grabbed the toothbrush holder and pulled the damn thing off the wall. :rolleyes1

Then....driving into work, my window in the car got stuck and wouldn't go up and then something popped in the door....maybe a belt? :confused3

From there...the day got a little better but now I'm afraid the repair for the window is going to cost several hundred dollars....it's never cheap.

Anyway....the weather was nice so I can't complain about that.

Going to eat dinner....might be back later.

Sorry you had such a sucky day and even more sorry that I didn't even give you some support until today! I am a little slow.

And I'm home finally - yay! DS12 is going to go to the "Nifty Knitters" meeting at the library for the first time tonight. Don't know if it will be 3 little old ladies who know what they're doing or a bunch of clueless kids! Either way it will get him out of Religious Ed for the night so he's willing to try!

Mikey & Ally both like to knit, but htye pretty much just do a straight line and it never goes any farther then that. :rotfl:

I just learned how to knit last Christmas when my mom was going thru her breast cancer stuff. Her sister from Florida who is a retired nurse came to stay with my mom for a few weeks. She is an awesome knitter. We had a lot of time on our hands as mom's surgery was rescheduled twice. My aunt ended up staying 3 weeks. So she taught me, my daughter, my mom and my sister how to knit. It was an awesome experience spending so much time together. We got together almost every night for a few hours. Had a bit of wine and some cheese and great conversation. I wish she and her husband lived closer. :sad2
I've since knitted 2 scarves, 2 felted handbags, and know I am working on a cabled sweater for myself. I'm in over my head on this one. I emailed the directions to my Aunt so she can help me when I get stuck!
:

What wonderful memories you made!

After I picked up Joshua from school, the boys and I spent about an hour with Carol today. She tires quickly these days, so I don't let the boys stay there for longer than that. She played a game of Monopoly with Joshua. Daniel ran around like crazy. It was a good afternoon.

I'm sitting here eating milk chocolate frosting straight from the tub. I'm feeling that blah-onset-of-depression thing, so I'm trying the quickest cure-all I know. Sugar.

They were able to play a game of Monopoly in an hour? It always takes us much longer than that. Glad she felt good enough to at least do that.

:grouphug: Wish I was closer so I could just run over and give you a big hug.

Yeah...bubble bath isn't quite my thing unless you consider eating Mexican food and farting in the tub...I had to replace a window motor in my old car...about $455.00! :sad2:

:lmao: :lmao:

me either, but at the outlets yesterday, I did see the CROCS STORE! (and...I saw the LIME green ones...stuck out on the wall like a sore thumb! Let's just say they were on the wall at the back of the store, and I saw them from outside the store! ) The first thought that popped into my head: Janet heaven  Second thought? I don't own any Crocs and have no idea of the cost, so I didn't bother going in!

:confused3

$30, at least that's what they are everywhere I have seen them.

My son is a whiz with ramen noodles. He also eats spaghettios straight out of a can. Where did I go wrong!:confused3

You didn't go wrong. At least he can feed himself something. My oldest DS loves Ramen noodles. Ally loves Spaghettio's although I don't think I could get her to eat them out of a can. But Mikey can cook! He gets to cook all of our meats that we grill outside or smoke. Yum!
