Now, uh, excuse me...isn't it DECEMBER???? :confused3 Why didn't we do this play last month when I COULD HAVE FOUND PLENTY OF ACORNS!?!!!! So, anyhow...we managed.....

Well...off to bed....if your tree is decorated, wanna share?? ;) The tree, the lights....any other decorations?? :confused3

Nite homes...catch you later this morning.....

Hello to all you Universal homies out there!! Just found time to stop in and see what's new - but no way can I keep up with all of you chatters!!

Hope you're all having a great Christmas season - enjoyed the tree pics!

Here is where the school schedules confuse me. Our school starts back in early August so our kids get to take longer breaks during the year. They all go the same number of days, it's just broken up different. Wouldn't it benefit you guys more up there to have a shorter summer break and longer winter breaks? Wouldn't it benefit us more to have a longer summer break and shorter winter breaks? Our kids are sweating it out the first couple of weeks of school and your kids are slogging through the snow now. Doesn't make any sense to me. :confused3

I may can shed a little light on our school schedules here in GA - the reason the school systems went to starting the year in early August was so that they could finish a full semester by the Christmas break. It makes sense, but I don't like it because it is so miserably hot here in August. And when they get out in May it's still not hot enough to swim - the pool water is still freezing!

I think they are slowly moving to year round school anyway!

last year i mailed my cards on christmas eve........

my brother mailed his new years eve to me.
it runs in the family

:rotfl: Well, at least you both have something to look forward to after Christmas!

Oh wait, and speaking of the 80's:

We were playing a game last weekend that involved writing answers to questions and trying to match who said what. One of the questions asked what person or thing you thought most personified the 1980's.

Two of the answers (obviously not DH's or mine) from my children:

1. Black and white TV's
2. Hippies

Yeah, they're trying to make us feel older than we already are! :rotfl:

:rotfl2: That's funny but sad that they think b & W tv's were in the 80's!! How 'bout covered wagons?

why?? :confused3 I used to love to watch the Love Boat....couldn't wait to take a trip on it...... on Saturday nights before Fantasy Island....

I'll admit it. I watched Love Boat AND Fantasy Island and LOVED them both. I had a crush on Gopher. Eh, I was young and stupid.

Okay, that one baffles me. A Pilgrim play AFTER Thanksgiving? Sending you for a feather pen and acorns in DECEMBER? :sad2: Somebody fell behind in their job. A feather pen, I guess you could get one of those "sign the guest book" types for weddings... but acorns are pretty much fall-specific items. :headache:

Here's a couple more shots of decorations in my house:

I've heard the rumor for several years that they are moving us toward a year round schedule. They put year round school up for a vote several years ago and it didn't pass, but since then our summer break has been shrinking a bit each year. So, it's the old "you won't vote to let us do it our way... we'll just phase it in slowly and won't give you a choice..." thing. Of course, the powers that be ALWAYS know what is best. I don't know why they bother to ask us what they should do.

What is up with the DIS? For the past two days, I've been getting S...L...O...W loading pages and posts. Plus, I'm getting emails about "New reply" to threads that I'm subscribed to... but the emails are about, oh, TWELVE HOURS after the reply was made! Is it just me? :headache:

It's not you, I gave up yesterday cause it was taking so long.

I'm off the visit my great aunt at her nursing home. See you all later today.
Have a great one!

Nope...not just you....me too....and it's not just this thread...it's the whole DIS! :( I don't get the "instant" notification either...i just minimize the page and refresh it :rolleyes1

I went to year round skool around 5th grade....it was good and bad... as a parent, I can see the "cons" of the whole daycare thing....As a kid I liked it, but not so sure as a parent :scratchin

Wellll....since you are admitting you agree with me.....I thought the same thing of Gopher :rolleyes1 :lmao: .....young an' stoopid......

Uh...yeah....that would be BUBBA dropping that ball!!! (hence the 'working it out'...) We had a nice discussion about "communitcating" between what's going on at skool and with us here at home.... So, this WILL NOT happen again....or heads will roll.... :rotfl:

Oh yeah.... I love to see Christmas decorations and share ideas.... just "the season"....only once a year.....

I love how your platter on the top of your hutch keeps 'rotating' with the season :thumbsup2

Looks like the manager scene is very old....and up very high...out of little fingers reach :rolleyes1

Okay, I'm glad it's not just me. Both about the DIS and about Gopher. :lmao: :rolleyes1

I have my User CP set to where I don't automatically subscribe to every thread I post on. Ugh. Who needs that? BUT I do have a couple that I subcribe to... like this one. I got emails THIS MORNING about posts that Barb made LAST NIGHT. Ummm... hello? DIS? Got it already, but thanks for the update!

If I could find a platter for every holiday/season, I would be in heaven.

The nativity set was my first Christmas decoration purchase after I moved out on my own in 1987. The set of figures still has a price tag on it from Zayre. Those stores haven't even existed for a long time. I might have even gotten the set as a "going out of business" type bargain.

And, yes, the only breakable stuff I have is on my mantle and the nativity is on top of our dvd storage cabinet. WAY out of little hands reach. :thumbsup2

:rotfl: get the pm too?

Yes, I got the extremely useful notice of the PM this morning too.
