marci - you were a busy bee, on EST;) . I miss calvin & hobbes, esp. the sled riding strips:thumbsup2 Pittsburgh can be heaven or hell, depending on the weather:lmao:

elmer - did you know your kids were sitting on a strangely dressed man's lap:rotfl: jk, very cute (wonder if they do background checks on dept. store santas these days?)

ahem...My oldest got married last year Dec. 23rd, it worked out well as all the family was home for Xmas already - no need for expense of extra trip. Everyone i spoke to thought it was a great idea. Of course, they sent out the "hold the date cards" 6 months in advance - the best idea in wedding planning! Only complaint was from my SIL who didn't give them a Xmas gift since she pointed out that she had gifted them the grand sum of $50 two days earlier:rolleyes1 ps they are very comfortable $ wise - only the best for herself; cheap/re-gifted presents to everyone else...selfish, spoiled brat

sharon - i'm a realtor (license in escrow - i.e. i'm a bum & only do referrals lol). Always felt bad for our office manager (licensed, yet company policy she didn't list or sell). she had to babysit the bunch of backstabbing, customer-stealing harpies...always managed to handle things in a calm, Solomon-like manner. :confused3

barb - whadja buy today?

mac "the noive" aka nerve as Curly would say...family can be such stooges:confused3

you get points - somewhere; for agreeing to do such a kind deed for your long-lost brother:thumbsup2 did anyone ask your ma & pa if they want to go to the wedding:lmao: ?

all you need to do is miss jumping thru one of those hoops for DS, they don't make it easy to obtain the services you need.:sad2:

i practically had to give the pharmacy my 1st born today to set up getting 3 lousy lipitors for my mom "early" on Saturday before we leave, not like it's a controlled substance. They close @ 9:00 pm; i negotiated anytime after 8:30 that evening:confused3 Rite aid took over from Eckerd, new staff; not exactly accommodating. They kept telling me i could pick up the full Rx a couple days early on 12/1...i kept telling them i'd be airborne @ 7:00 am:rolleyes1check/stalemate/blame it on medicare.popcorn::

cat (sitting behind me on couch) decided to get a better foothold in his grooming by digging his claws in the back of my head - owww

bad kitty...........tell her to be good as santa will give her coal in her stocking if she doesn't.

told brother yes. called parents they said they wanted to go and don't want to go. but they will go if i pick them up.
momski says "i only want to go to the wedding and then come home"
"we can stop and get kfc for dinner then."

life is too short to hold grudges.
i have missed my brother.
as long as he is alive, then there is a chance of friendship for us.

I’m finally getting around to posting some photos of my weekend trip to my favorite place, Lago Mar. But first, the rental car saga.

We left the house at 4:30 am on Friday. Arrived in Fort Lauderdale around 12:00. :goodvibes Smooth sailing, until we got to the rental car. I had reserved a cheap rental (Ford Focus) used Gold Canopy from Hertz, found the parking spot, but there was a Toyota Prius sitting there. Didn’t think to much about it till DH told me it was a hybrid. I shrug my shoulders, so, what’s the problem. :confused3 The d@mn car should have come with instructions on how to start it. I swear to God, it took us 15 minutes to figure out how to get the car into reverse. :rotfl2: Finally had to get out the manual. In case any of you ever rent one of these, here are the instructions.

First you have to insert this key that looks like a credit card.

Than you have to put your foot on the brake.

Next you have to buckle up both seat belts. Yep, car won’t start if both seat belts are not done up.

Next, you have to push a button on the dash marked power. Make sure you keep your foot on the brake. It will still start, but you can’t put it into reverse if your foot is not on the brake! The car is so quiet that you can only tell that it is running when the reverse camera starts operating. You need the camera because you can’t see out the rear windows. Who ever designed this car obviously never drove it. It kinda looks like an egg on wheels.

Now locate a knob on the dash that you pull down for reverse or pull up for drive. Never did figure out what the letter B was for! Didn’t have the nerve to try it.
Ok, finally ready to drive off!

The car switches from battery to elec to gas, when and why I am not sure, but when it switches to elec or battery from gas, it feels just like the car has stalled. We gave each other the oh-no what now look a few times until we got used to it! :lmao:

Mac - That is quite a little request from your brother. Takes some brass cojones to pick up the phone after a dozen years and ask you to cart yourself and parents a few hundred miles in the winter in your neck of the woods.

Janet - If that worked for you and yours, great. From where I'm sitting, I'm getting hit in the pocketbook when Santa does his shopping. If I must choose between my kids and somebody else's wedding, my kids win. Of course, I would never complain to the couple... or their immediate family... or anyone else remotely connected to the wedding where word of my complaint might get back to them. That would be crass. It sounds like your SIL is the poster child for crass. :rolleyes1

I had a moment earlier that I thought suited the CB: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1647589

sharon - TR:goodvibes thanks for the hybrid primer - it's not easy being green:lmao:

elmer - no unibrow:rotfl: jk, u r a riot (i swear i've got one on the side of my chin that retracts when i go to pluck it),:confused3

poster child for crass:idea: has a certain ring to it:rotfl2: ; funny thing is she takes every opportunity to brag as to her "southern gentility" & fact that they can trace their lineage back to the civil war. IMO, she wouldn't know class if it bit her on her ****.

/
Sharon - I can picture that perfectly. I mean, it's bad enough trying to find all the buttons and such in an unfamiliar rental car... but I've never had to dig out a manual in order to start a vehicle!

Makes me want to get out there and shop for a hybrid... NOT! :lmao:

Good morning all, my youngest has the day off skool (1st day of deer hunting season - yee-haw!)
5 more sleeps for me - peeps:banana:

Janet - does he have the day off because its the first day of hunting season? It just got over for us, now I can safely walk in the back yard!

How long are you going to be gone for? Can I tag along in your suitcase!

hey homies, i did the exchange drawing and in the process of sending each of you a pm with the 411 for it.

please do not share anyone's private 411 of name and address with anyone.

December 12 is the deadline for mailing out the items.
December 20 is the date we can start posting what we received and from whom.

post on the thread when you receive the package.
that way i can be sure everyone has theirs.

janet is leaving on vacay in 4 more sleeps.
a few others are doing vacay also.

wanted to let everyone know who they have so they work around that.

if anyone comes on board for the exchange after today, i have an elf that will take over for those people.

I got my PM Mac! I'm terrible at keeping secrets, should I have mentioned that before? :rolleyes1

Not the personal info stuff, that's a given... but the who I have and what I buy and what I get and from who? Keeping THAT to myself is going to KILL me!

Yoo-woo.....

Bubba didn't kill me :thumbsup2 We had a nice day! Our first stop was actually to 'surprise' Dad at work and have lunch with him..... (and IF a 'certain somebody' hadn't said "expect a surprise tomorrow" before he went to sleep last night, it might have actually been a surprise!)

Anyhow...the guys my DH eats lunch with asked Bubba what he was up to today. He said shopping with Mom. The guys said "why". Bubba said, "Cuz she wants to torture me!" :lmao: (yeah, having lunch at McDonalds with a Sprite AND cookies.....yep...torture!) After a chuckle over that little comment, lunch was soon over for DH and we headed to the mall. Being a bit after 12 (DH eats lunch at 11:30), we stopped and had lunch at McD's...something we rarely do...so, a special treat.....

Shopped around, bought some stuff...even managed to sneak a "Santa" purchase in there when Bubba was browsing Game Stop. He got a little something for his teacher, I got some "girls" in the family some earrings, DH bought me a lovely snowman tealight lamp that I just couldn't leave the store without :lmao: (oh c'mon...ya HAD to know he'd buy me something :confused3 )

Not as productive as I wanted to be, but we enjoyed the day shopping together....something we did a lot of together when he was little....not so much anymore....they tell me to go by myself....

Altho...I DID think of you Todd....while in those "game" stores that open at the holidays in the mall...I saw DVD game of Press Your Luck  :thumbsup2 Didn't even know it existed :rotfl: Anyhow....a thought of you from me.....

Mac...I couldn't buy you anything....friendship is free..... (or whatever your isp charges you ....)

Janet...I'm excited for you for your trip! Your excursions sound awesome and just think of me for a second while doing them....i'll "feel" your vibe and it will just be like being there with you! I do hope you have a wonderful time .....(& I don't sleep prior to my trip either....).....I think it's a rule?

Marcie....in reference to your Black Friday shopping marathon....uh.... :scared: Sounds fun for you, but during all that....I was catchin' up on beauty sleeps.... :cloud9: Taking advantage of my "sleeping in" time....(which is rare...cuz if Bubba has skool, I'm up)

Who said it?? BRING ON THE CHRISTMAS MUSIC FULL STEAM!!! Go ahead, hate me, I don't care...but it's ONLY 4 weeks out of the entire year!!!! It'll be gone before you know it! (I know we have a Philly station [101.1 Tracie] that gives you the option of listening to holiday on the radio, OR holiday OR regular online.... :thumbsup2 ) I love it...have a burnt CD of my favs...have been known to play it in my car at any given time of the year...... :rolleyes1

Sharon...thanks for the 'lesson' on starting Hybrid....will remember to ask or refer to manual on the off chance we get one! Now...about that trippie and pix......

elmer - we just throw junk out the front door for Xmas, where-ever it lands is fine (halloween takes it out of us lol). IMO a coating of snow will make anything look better!

:lmao:

can you believe the price of home heating oil???:scared:
this is awfull and it is only november.

We "save" all year and prepay in the late summer/early fall.....a few years ago, the price jumped to $2/gal...we prepaid at 72cents/gal :cool1: Yeah, it's a big bill at the time....but new windows a few years ago and new heater a couple before that have helped! What can ya do?? Ya can't freeze..... but I would like to buy some stock in the oil companies....gas is highest it's ever been, and they are making record profits...hhhmmmm :scratchin .....I smells a rat in the bushes.....

life is too short to hold grudges.
i have missed my brother.
as long as he is alive, then there is a chance of friendship for us.

Kudos to you....You are a bigger person than I. There is absolutely NO WAY EVER I will ever speak to my sister or her boys again. Period.... I know life is too short...that's why I won't/can't be bothered. I hope it all works out, you have great driving weather and have a good time "reconnecting" with your family.

I had a moment earlier that I thought suited the CB: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1647589

What else can I say about this besides :confused3

I got my PM Mac! I'm terrible at keeping secrets, should I have mentioned that before? :rolleyes1

I am the same way!!! Who I have and what I got.... :hyper: It's gonna kill me...... (hey  since we're in the same boat....... :rolleyes1 ........ wanna share a paddle....sssshhhh...don't tell mac...... )

Oh, and we had another game tonite. We won 5-2...the boys did real well with a week off...altho, with no "out of bounds" they were huffing and puffin' outta breath....poor guys! Bubba started goal, but just till the 1st stringer came back from the potty :rotfl2: (He didn't let any in...he dun gud!)

I didn't get mine yet either Katie....we will....mac is good about stuff like this....she'll get to it.....

So, off to check mail, make DH's lunch and prepare for workout ....have some mails to send too.....

Man you guys sure yaked a lot today!!!! I have read all but just don't have time to respond. Spent the day moving oldest ds back home. He is starting a new job working for some friends of mine tomorrow.

Here is my soap box:

Why in the world would anyone have not one but two kids at Christmas time???? Those poor kids don't even really get to celebrate their birthdays. No one wants to or can afford to buy them much because of all the money they are already out buying Christmas gifts. The nerve of such people!

Oh wait, that was me! ;) Ally's birthday is December 23rd & Christopher's is January 1st. :lmao:

Can't wait to find out who I get for the ornament exchange!

Later guys!
